No one held any sympathy for him and his tragic backstory after what he had done and a Guilty verdict came along very quickly. The circus was shut down soon after and Franziska was pissed because this wasn't really a victory given how open and shut it was. Trilo made Ben take the both of them on a one way trip to the woodchipper, and Moe became a very sad clown at children's birthday parties who constantly brought down the mood.* *Max came out pretty good from that whole mess, even got a movie deal out of it. Though everybody else in the movie got flanderized to the point those still alive tried getting Phoenix to sue Max. Wright politely told them all, he wasn't that kind of lawyer.*
Acro's backstory honestly carried this trial. Moe wasn't that bad when he wasn't in the witness stand either. But the love triangle between two adult men and a 16 yo girl is awful. And the case would've worked fine without that too. Just make Ben/Trilo hate Max for another reason.

Apparently Takumi wrote the case (and maybe the rest of JFA?) while he was drunk. And that really explains why turnabout big top turned out to be whatever the fuck it is. god
If that's the case, "Farewell My Turnabout" must have been either the part he made sober or SUPER drunk to the point that it wrapped back around to being brilliant.
It's stated that he intended to use any heavy object on the pile. The illusion that the bust created was pure coincidence. He could easily use the tuba and get the same results
@@PacoReerI’m gonna stick with my personal logic of how Acro was considering it for awhile but didn’t because it was too risky to use a regular object, but finally decided to follow through when Money had swiped the bust and he had his scapegoat.
I'm just thinking, imagine being 31 and seeing a kid talking about some dumb shit like "When people die they become stars" and being like "Yeah lol that's my wife right there"
If Acro succeeded in killing Regina, he would've gotten in even more trouble by pitting everyone against him as he's murdering the child of his father figure (who's still a minor) and her beauty catches the public's adoration. He'd have no one to pin the crime on as it'd be impossible to forge the scene and not to mention, everyone else would have an alibi. He could've just confront her like a normal person as she genuinely didn't mean any harm. He could enrich her about the stuff she missed out while she was sheltered without having to be abusive.
If he had the guts to accept imprisonment for the Ringmaster's death (If he didn't confess before was because Franziska was pulling some strings as well to win the case). I believe he would've just confessed straight for killing Regina.
He lost both his legs and his brother and co-worker as an Acrobat to her. All to then be reminded of how she doesn't give a damn about it every day, as she takes out the trash in the morning. I think being mentally unwell isn't a farfetched idea
The one thing I'll say in Acro's defense is that Regina is a lot shorter than the victim. It's possible he just intended it to sail over her head and scare her, and it only killed the ringmaster due to the height difference. I feel like this gets mentioned at some point in the chapter, but I forget when. Still a stupid plan overall, though.
@@alexanderkosten7611 But he couldn't see out the window well due to being wheelchair-bound. That alone's why he couldn't see that it was actually the ringmaster trying to pick up the box to begin with and even if his only goal was to scare Regina, he would've either missed or just killed her anyway.

Seriously. They made an interesting and not creepy towards a child character (Besides Moe and Regina's dad) but then made him extremely stupid. I mean the plan since it's so full of holes. Let's say that he did end up kiIIing Regina. He would be the only person with a motive.
This case made me feel disgusting and I hate replaying it, even though it’s got some good Franziska moments. (She’s one of my favorite characters btw, so it pains me that one of her few episodes is this one) When I first played the episode, I thought maybe, just *maybe*, Regina would be the killer all along. I mean…think about it. That’d make it a much more compelling story. She’d be fighting back against her father who effectively sheltered her for the entirety of her life seemingly against her will. Perhaps it’d be revealed her childish persona was nothing more than an act, either out of malicious intent like Dahlia, or more tragically, as a defense mechanism. Maybe she knew it would keep everyone happy if she kept it up, and she was terrified of finding out what would happen if she dropped it. Maybe she found out about Max’s plans to marry her and snapped, opting to rid of the person in charge and free herself from the situation she’d been trapped into. Then, she’d use the persona she’d already perfected and nobody would suspect her. When Leon the Lion’s story was revealed, I at first believed it lended further evidence to Regina being the culprit, but alas, it wasn’t to be. There’s more to this idea that I could expand upon, but I’ve rambled long enough as is. I’d be happy to talk about it some more with other people if anyone would like!
Oh I really want to hear the full story/interpretation! This definitely sounds better than the original plot of this case! The only part I liked of turnabout big top is when Franziska spoke to Phoenix about the situation with Miles
I just finished this case for the first time, and I was 100% convinced that Regina was the murderer. It would have been much more satisfying, and I legitimately thought the Acro stuff was all a complex red herring.
I would prefer her to be innocent but I like the idea that her innocence caused her to directly kill someone, or that the nice and quiet one snapped due to the pressure of her coworkers
I thought at the start that the ringmaster was just not that good of a guy as everyone seemed to think, and Regina casually talking about him killing Leon was a hint to his privately cruel and abusive nature.
@@user-ez9ng2rw9c exactly! This guy kiIIed a lion due to a mistake. He sheltered his teenage daughter so she didn't even know about death, and did not have an issue with Max trying to marry her

Nothing like 2 (formerly 3) adult men trying to hit on a teenager while someone else tries to kill said girl as the only somewhat normal person is a depressed clown
Ah yes, this case. I won't lie, I hate Regina, Max, and Ben/Trilo. C'mon now, we , we did not need a love triangle involving a totally clueless 16 year old girl who thinks everything is a game, especially with the other two in the triangle being ADULTS. Sure, Ben is schizophrenic, and Trilo is a doll, but let's face it, Regina would eventually wise up and realize that the guy holding Trilo is 15 years older than she is... or at least, we HOPE she would wise up. And then there's Max. I honestly preferred him as the cocky circus star over the southern hick in disguise. There really was no need for him to suddenly "be Southern": he could have stayed a cocky star who thought he was untouchable until he realized that hey, he's actually in a LOT of trouble, and it could humble him realistically. And he does get humbled... but they made it feel so... phony. I don't mind folks from the south at all, but I personally think this Turnabout did them dirty. And honestly, the entire Turnabout would have been more tolerable without either Max or Ben/Trilo falling in love with Regina. They could have totally hated each other for different reasons... perhaps because Max is the big star of the circus, for example? And Max could dislike Ben/Trilo because he thinks they're running the circus into the ground, or maybe he could just not care enough about them to even acknowledge them. Believable reasons for their dislike- or mutual dislike, depending on how it's played out- without getting a 16 year old, clueless girl involved in a creepy love triangle. Speaking of whom, Regina is the absolute WORST of the lot of them, and it's not really even her fault why she's this way... or so the game would have you think. It wants you to think that this is all the ringmaster's fault... you know, the guy who got murdered. As if the poor guy wasn't already being screwed over enough... because he's fuckin' DEAD. But let's be honest, it's not just his fault, nor is it the fault of the circus and the people that also spoil and shelter her: she's fucking 16 years old and should have the intelligence and imagination of a 16 year old to ask questions about things she doesn't totally understand. Yet I'd wager that she hasn't asked an important question in her life, and just skips about on her merry way to screw people over because she's cute and is a popular star at a circus. The only saving graces to this Turnabout are Acro and Moe. Moe because he does finally get himself together enough to lead Regina- and eventually the rest of the circus- down the right path, and Acro because his side of the entire debacle is actually pretty well-written and tugs at the heartstrings. Oh, and also Gumshoe, because Gumshoe is the best and deserves more love. And a raise. And some extra ramen noodles. Anyways, thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
The whole reason Max is Billy Bob Johns is because in the original Japanese, he's a similar guy from some nowhere village out in the Japanese countryside, and he's ashamed of his origins.
Ah, gotcha. That does make a bit more sense to me. And I will agree that Max Galactic is a much better name for a magician than Billy Bob Johns, though I still think the localization could have done without making him so... southern. But that's just me.

@@dhans9662 I'd hate to meet him, but he's one cool final boss for the first game. Ben could be replaced by anything else and the case would be the same thing
the whole trilo and regina thing confused me so much. i know that ben doesn't actually like regina that way and that it's trilo who wanted to be with regina but like????? trilo is a doll. he's not real, so is it just ben's way of saying he wants to be with regina (which is CREEPY) or did ben make trilo be in love with regina as like "an act"?
Fun fact: In one of Ben's sprites, you can see him moving his mouth when Trio's the one talking. Which concludes that BEN is the one who's in love with Regina. Ben's a 31 yr old Pupeteer and then there's Regina who's fucking 18. Isn't that messed up?
This would be even better if the stupid "Guess where the murder weapon is or your client is guilty" part were in it. I didn't even know Acro had a blanket over his legs, so I assumed saying that the bust was in his chair implied that he was SITTING on the bust without anybody noticing.
…Oh yeah, Moe is an old friend of the Ringmaster. …and he literally brings Regina on the second trial day to make her take things seriously… …What the fuck even, Moe?
The average human learns the concept of death at age six. She is WELL past that age yet doesn't understand. She NEEDED to know the weight death had. She needed to know that death is a very final thing
@@HTFFanOfFlaky Moe apparently took over as ringmaster beyond that case, I hope he fired Woodman and maybe Max too. There were like 3 guys too old for her in that case alone, one of them being Acro's brother at 22 years old.
I don't think Acro's backstory was even well written. I think people only think that because it's the only decent thing about this case. but even with what happened to his brother he has no real justification to kill Regina. It's pretty stupid in my opinion. Also I have no idea why people feel bad for him, he literally murdered someone on purpose. Thankfully they did something actually good with a similar concept years later in Turnabout Reclaimed, which is just Big Top but better in pretty much every way.
Acro's not justified. But to have this person everyone loves be the cause of what is essentially your brother's death and keep acting in their happy-go-lucky attitude like nothing happened at all... I can see it.
I disagree with the lack of motive. *From Acro's POV*, Regina had been manipulating and bossing around his little brother for a while with full knowledge how strong his feelings for her are for a while. Then she recklessly endangered his life for her own amusement, perhaps even maliciously, expecting him to be hurt or dead. I mean, what are you supposed to assume when a person seemingly makes a lethal trap for somebody - that it's a prank or an attempted murder? Then, knowing Bat's on the brink of death due to her actions, Regina goes on with her life life nothing happened and shows no remorse. She doesn't even admit to what happened. Imo, looking from Acro's perspective, his hatred is justified and even expected. Can't say the same about the murder, but I can see why he would think Regina is secretly a monster
Can I be the one to say that I fucking hate Acro? He had an interesting background but everything else just sucked. He tried to kill a fucking child just because she indirectly caused his brother's (kinda) death. His plan failed and he ended up killing the man that everyone loved because the victim wanted to protect his daughter. I mean, sure, people can hold a grudge, but people don't usually try to kill a 16 (12, mentally) year old girl. And to top it all off, the game tries to make you feel BAD for him. What the fuck? He tried to kill an innocent little girl and the writers are saying shit like "Maybe EVERYONE was a victim." Yeah alright, Acro will be a "victim" in my eyes when Phoenix gets announced for Smash.
You're not alone. I sincerely love characters like him and Larry because I happen to be like them personality wise. I'm neither a clown nor a circus, but the entire entertainment industry. So I guess it's just natural.
moe's fantastic, he is genuinely my favorite non-recurring witness in the series and he's the character that really embodies the good of the case that i appreciate about it _(once you either forget or remove the really unfortunate love triangle thing)_
Phoenix Wright: You are embarrassing max she's only 16 name is Regina! Max: WHAT NO WAY SHE'S ONLY 16 GIRL OH MY GOD!! Franziska Von Karma: only 16 year old some one child. THE END!
honestly if i didnt have a walkthrough with me while playing AA2 it would've taken me so long to get through moe's testimony, esp since his testimony IS KIND OF VAGUE the first time i got a game over was bc of his cross examination...
That's what I was thinking. As an asian myself it's very common in the east so I didn't really notice the age difference being a problem tbh. For localization they really should have aged her up like 2 years it would've avoided criticism from the west
Oh yeah, this case... The reason why it took me a year to finish Justice for All as I just didn't felt like picking the game back up once I stopped playing when I got to this part
So Game Grumps started playing this case i got impatient and literally bought the game to continue ahead of them. I tried to play fair i really did. But once i started "losing" because of Moe's presses and evidence that should work being penalized by the judge i said fuck it and went to a guide How the fuck does an item we never find during the investigation become the murder weapon When Moe is talking about a black cloak and saying he saw the witness i tried to present Max and his PURPLE cloak and its incorrect. Acro says he saw a silhouettes yet during the investigation if you examine the light it says it was "off" during the murder. So if IT WAS FUCKING OFF HOW DID A SHADOW GET CAST !? FUCK 😊
What could release Max from his legal guilt of liking Regina is the Ringmaster being willing to marry Regina off to Max, able to sign to have it done. So maybe Acro did some good in this case.
Yeah the trick in this case was pretty bad, like what will happen if the cape not perfectly attached to the trophy? What will they say? And this conclusion happen after we got a clown that can't be pressed.
You know what I'm shocked wasn't in the actual case? You know how Acro is always by birds, right? I was thinking maybe he was going to use the birds to lift the cape up, but I guess the bust works well too... Though that raises the question: why IS Acro so relatable with birds? Is that ever actually explained?
i think it's kind of to show how he's a very kind and gentle person to a point where animals tend to really like him, sort of like a disney princess thing ! 80

That monkey must have been so buff XD
It's stated that he intended to use any heavy object on the pile. The illusion that the bust created was pure coincidence. He could easily use the tuba and get the same results

@@PacoReerI’m gonna stick with my personal logic of how Acro was considering it for awhile but didn’t because it was too risky to use a regular object, but finally decided to follow through when Money had swiped the bust and he had his scapegoat.
I hate this case but I love the part of Farewell my Turnabout where Phoenix has memories of Vietnam about Moe's jokes
ok but wheres the part about trilo trying to marry regina when it’s a literal puppet
& Regina doesn't seem to realise

@@microwave8931 Oh, I read it as "he wanted to kill a teenage girl because he doesn't know how comas work."

I don’t understand why the localization team didn’t just age up Regina by two years. It would’ve made this case way less creepy.
Judge: "She's 16? *ZAMN* 😍"
This case made me feel disgusting and I hate replaying it, even though it’s got some good Franziska moments. (She’s one of my favorite characters btw, so it pains me that one of her few episodes is this one)
When I first played the episode, I thought maybe, just *maybe*, Regina would be the killer all along.

Thankfully they did something actually good with a similar concept years later in Turnabout Reclaimed, which is just Big Top but better in pretty much every way.
i dont have a problem with his motive, im just confused as to how he ended up wheelchair-bound when bat is the one the lion bit
@@glassphoenix9095 it happened when he tried to save bat, the lion attacked him
Acro's not justified. But to have this person everyone loves be the cause of what is essentially your brother's death and keep acting in their happy-go-lucky attitude like nothing happened at all... I can see it.
well, without Turnabout Big Top, we wouldn't have the AAI2 that we know.
I've gotta be the only person who actually likes Moe, but everything else was on point
