I love the Miracle Balm. I’m mature, but combo skin. What the balm does is minimize the crepey dry leather look at the top of my cheeks. Even though I still have oil, the top layer of my mature skin is crinkly, so anything powder really makes that look worse. The people who don’t understand the product really are probably too young yet and don’t have that snakeskin-looking layer yet.

While Jones Road pitches to a broad audience, for obvious reasons, I think this line really suits those of us with drier, mature skins. On me the WTF does set down; the stickiness is gone after a short time. Same for Miracle Balm. And the skin care benefits of both these products have been game changing for me. My skin looks better every morning when I’ve used them the day before. I am also a fan of the powder bronzer in dusty rose, for the same reason Sofia is. That toasty pink is the shade my very fair skin turns when I get some sun. I love the Face pencils but find they drag a bit on my skin… they’re best used over WTF or the balm or a very emollient moisturizer. I don’t love the mascara as it is goopy and clumpy. Overall this line has transformed my approach to makeup and I ❤❤. But I can see where it is not a good choice for many - especially younger - women.

Apparently my face is too hairy for the pencils! I was so excited when they first came out, I think I got like 3 shades to color correct and cover. Well, I looked like an actual peach. My skin was like suede, haha!

My biggest beef is that they never have a sale, like even ysl and Armani will do 20% off. I do have the mascara and like it, but I want to try more however gosh how about a little discount!? ❤

I thought that the WTF works okay with regular pressed powder such as Kosas but that the new Jones Road loose powder has been a game-changer in making the WTF much, much, much more wearable. The pink version of the powder was especially nice for me.

I've seen 1000 reviews on this balm, yours is the best, you compare texture, shade and glow, I like it. Though tackiness and so on, I keep telling myself that I need a balm for the winter coming 😂 have you tried au naturel and bronze? These are the shades I am longing for 😊 ... thank you, your explanation was great.

I love using the bronze miracle balm in the colder seasons. I use it all over my face and It evens out my skin and moisturizes. My face soaks it up because of the dryer air. I will also use the face pencil to spot cover areas. I’ve had to fight to not add powder after because it does cause my powder to hard pan! It’s such a battle to stop myself lol. The bronze also helps cancel out redness in my cheeks.

I’ve been watching reviews of the Jones Road products lately, and I really appreciate yours! The WTFoundation really intrigues me because I’m 62 and have noticed that my skin seems to be getting drier, particularly during the winter months. Not sure about the Miracle Balm, as I don’t think I could stand having a sticky face, particularly with my hair sticking to it. I can’t imagine having cat hair stuck to my face for sure! Lol

For me the WTF does dry down, not sure why. The miracle balm is interesting, I use a thin layer of the au naturel on my face when it is irritated and it really works and dries down. I was able to get the set of tiny ones in every color on memorial day to add to what I had and they are very sheer but make excellent lip balms. I would buy the au naturel naturel again since I really have used most of the big size in about 6 months. I am considering the powder bronzer and loose powder.

I was using it all over my (super pale) skin earlier in 2023. I'll probably shift back to using that way later this year... Not cat hair!

I’m 47, with oily combo skin and I have tried 4 of the Miracle Balm shades. While they are pretty shades, my issue is that they cause my skin to feel too greasy, and I break out after two days of use. I can wear the miracle balm one day and then skip a few days. I like to wear Happy Hour on my eyelids. The Dusty Rose is probably my favorite for a blush. Flushed is nice on my fair skin, too. It takes at least 10 minutes to wash it off my fingers though even if I use a makeup removing wipe. Messy! I am interested in trying the face pencil. I don’t have dark circles or bags under my eyes though and wonder if it will accentuate or create an unappealing effect under my eyes. I also worry about too much product under the eyes causing little tiny raised bumps or skin tags. (Don’t have any but I don’t want any; and I have been warned by eye doctors that a lot of makeup under eyes can cause that problem.)

Good to hear the comparison to the Chantecaille Future Skin, that is helpful. I think I will just stick with that. It is kind of weird how big those miracle balms are. Unless you're using them on your body, I don't know how they could ever be used up and repurchased, it doesn't make sense to me as a business decision, and they are too huge to take anywhere. They definitely look like they need to be downsized. She had a super flash promo recently where you could get 3 mini ones, and I was too late to try them but would have gone for that if it was a good price (like the price of one full sized one)...
I wonder if you would have liked her blush stick a lot more. That one looks nice.

Hi Sofia - interesting review thank you :)
I bought a whole load of JR makeup when it first came out and didn't really get along with it - the eye liners were very dry and draggy; the eye shadows fairly patchy, and I wasn't too sure how to use the Miracle Balm, BUT! Let me share this... the face creams and oil stick and eye cream are FABULOUS! Super good! I've used them up and replaced them too, they are so good :) And I agree those little everything sticks? They are super handy for handbag touch ups right? Couldn't agree more. So as a brand I find a few of the products are really good and have a place in my makeup bag, but as a general makeup lover, the eye and lip and cheek products and WTF stuff doesn't come close to Lancome, VBB, Lisa Eldridge, Natasha D, etc etc... But as you say a good many of the JR products are being loved or hated! But you've gotta give all makes a good chance for sure. Thanks for sharing your views and I have to agree with you 100% 💋💋💋

I love her powder bronzer , i got it in tan. I did pickup dusty rose too but for blush. I tried light tan as well but preferred the golden undertone of tan. Her matte eyeshadow are also great and i just got her untinted powder which surprisingly i liked and works well for light makeup days. Her bronzer brush is so soft and applied nicely with the bronzer. Il probably go back for the powder brush next time i order.
I won’t even go near the other dewy products but i did try her gel bronzer and it just did not work for me. Very patchy and didn’t want to play nice with others lol. It worked better as a no makeup look but girl needs some concealer 😂

Tempted by the Dusty Rose but it's just a mauve shift from the special edition MAC Sur blush. Big Sur [to me] is like a cross between Jones Road Dusty Rose and the RMS Maiden's Blush and Crystal Slipper. Ideal shift color wise but so close and how many blushes does one need? This isn't about the formula. Just the color. But finding that ideal everyday blush color can be a real coup non?

Older skin doesn't equate to dry. Huge misconception! I've well over 50 and my skin is solidly combo. This would turn me into a greaseball. I like water based products or something with light moisture at most. Plus I have long hair. Anything that sticks is a no. For natural I'll take Chantecaille Rose Tint, for a glowy finish, or the Chanel Rosy Beige for more matte. And Chanel Water Fresh Tint and Complexion Touch for the win. Thanks for this honest video. I don't know what Bobbi Brown is thinking.💚

    • @DeborahCarlston
      @DeborahCarlston 2 місяці тому +1

@@1976mcfarlane My skin is thinner now and I really hate that. It makes it prone to scarring if I get a serious zit. I have to be diligent about keeping my skin as free of clogged pores as I can. So exfoliation and deep cleansing are really important. Plus I can get flaky if I don't exfoliate regularly. My main products for those issues are the Erno Laszlo Detox Double Cleanse (both the oil which has charcoal and the sea mud soap) and Exfolikate by Kate Somerville. Those are two of my highest performing products. And for moisture and anti aging I really love Perricone MD. Both the Cold Plasma line and the Acyl Glutathione line make a major difference in wrinkles, and can actually eliminate fine lines on the cheeks and forehead. Most of the above products are available in generous travel sizes, so you can try them before you make a big commitment.

@@DeborahCarlston I'll have to check out that exfoliating product you're talking about. My face is pretty normal/ balanced but I need to exfoliate daily because I get dry skin on my cheeks and eyelids. Drives me nuts. That's why I cannot wear other makeup and all the blushes on the market I seem to be too sensitive to wear. I probably won't be able to use the wtf foundation either or I'd feel too greasy. I'm waiting on my miracle balm to give it a try.. hoping on looking a little bit more lively with color again 😂 witch hazel might work nice for you too. Very gentle

    • @DeborahCarlston
      @DeborahCarlston 2 місяці тому

@@1976mcfarlane Oh yes. Witch hazel is a great product. The exfoliator is enzyme vs. a scrub, so better for anyone's skin. However, if you are used to namby pamby exfoliators, watch out. Exfolikate means business! It is pretty strong. I like to use it in the shower and let the steam activate it. But don't leave it on too long. Since you're dry, another one you might like is Dewtopia by Ole Henricksen. I was surprised how effective it is. It's a nice one to use at night before bed. They have a Dewtopia cream too. Reviewers thought the cream was too heavy, but with your dry skin it might work. Also, Ole Henricksen Banana Bright Eye Cream is the best eye cream on the market. Better than La Mer, Augustinus Bader, Chanel, Dior, and more. Truly emollient, but not greasy. And it plays nice under makeup.

The sensation of my hair sticking to my face when I wear the miracle balm and the tackiness is a non negotiable no from me. I bought all of the minis and trashed them after trying every way I could to make it work for me. I just couldn’t and I didn’t like them in other applications either. Too tacky feeling. It does not dry down and if anyone says it does I need to know what magic they used to do so.
I do however like the everything sticks and the hippy stick so very much. I use the hippy stick for everything, lotion, face moisture, lip balm, taming flyaways, etc. It smells like a spa and I love it so much I’m about to buy my second after finishing a whole stick. I liked the eye cream as well so I won’t stray away from Jones Road for skincare but probably not their dewy makeup. I’m 31 with dry skin so I thought I would be the ideal user for jones road.

I looked at the Mario blushes last week and wasn’t impressed with the shade selection. The Pat McGrath blushes seemed VERY cheap and patchy. I love the rare beauty blushes for the quality and the price. I wanted to pick up a Glossier blush but they were sold out at the location I was at.

The Mario blushes are nice but for sure he launched with more "mainstream" shades so they weren't as exciting for me as a makeup lover :)

I want to be interested by Jones road, I like Bobbi Brown as a artist and the brand (before Estee Lauder take over, it's lost it's spark now)and the aesthetic of Jones road so I should be the target audience... but none of the products appeal to me. The miracle balm would be my jam if it was more pigmented, cause I'm dark skinned and the darkest bronzer is lighter then my skin tone so thats a fail for me. Nice review!

I tried the WTF and you really have to rub it into the skin, so I worry about it disrupting my sunscreen layer. And I just didn’t like the tacky feeling.

I have oily skin so WTF and Miracle Balm aren’t made for me. I think the Miracle Balm looks absolutely beautiful on you on camera. But if you can’t go near your cat…that’s an absolute no! The Mario blush sounds like a much better glowy cheek alternative.
The pinky bronzer is gorgeous, but sadly, I can’t do cornstarch. It breaks me out. Oh well!
So far I’ve not tried anything from this brand, but I’m interested in the gel bronzer!

I really hoped to love WTF because I was looking for a natural foundation but I fucking hate it lol. So sticky and broke me out so badly. 0 coverage and never set. When I set it with powder, the healthy look of it disappears and the foundation can become cakey. Had to give it away to my mom but she threw it out because she hated how sticky It was too lol.

What’s the point? You are using it because it’s a cream product. It’s far too oily to really do that

Because of Bobbi’s non compete, she had to sit out of the market for over 20 years. Her lifestyle and her friends’s lifestyles influenced the launch of this brand. A hit for Bobbi.

This line is for women with dry, mostly blemish and acne free skin who have lighter complexions. I still have acne and don’t think this stuff has enough coverage and the miracle balm seems like it would clog pores. I’m going to pass!

When Bobbi Brown launched decades ago, she promoted a natural you-but-better look. She was the queen of the no-makeup makeup look long before it became a trend. But then she lost her way, sold out to Estée Lauder, and disappeared. I think many fans of natural looking makeup were excited when Bobbi returned to the scene with Jones Road. JR has been a complete fail, though, in my opinion. Looking like a grease ball is not my idea of healthy. I love a soft, light-diffusing, healthy skin glow, but the WTF foundation and these balms just look downright greasy. Looking hot and sweaty is not my beauty esthetic.

Bobbi Brown as a brand still sells perfectly nice products for the natural beauty look. I don't see the need for her brand. It' like another version of Glossier and Milk Makeup... Same esthetics really

I think her purpose for this line was for very dry skin. It's popular with people with older skin that need hydration that doesn't fade through the day. I am currently in Scotland and my skin is dry from the cold weather. I used these products. Even while hiking 5 miles, up a mountain, in freezing weather, my makeup held up. I came back to perfectly moisturized skin. When I go home, I am back in the dry air of southern California. I think this will work, if..., it doesn't melt off.

@@mareenalewis4241 I agree with you that Bobbi was undoubtedly targeting older women with dry skin. Although I easily fit that category (80 with über dry skin), the Miracle Balm and WTF still didn’t work for me. Those products just sat on the surface of my skin looking greasy even though I applied them with a light hand. My skin needs moisture, moisture, and more moisture; not just occlusives. I live in So Cal where it is dry at the best of times and when those Santa Ana winds blow in from the desert, the moisture gets sucked out of everything. I find a good quality facial oil as the last step is a better option for my skin. It just boils down to finding the right products to suit our particular skincare needs. Aren’t we lucky to have such a wide variety of products from which to choose? Oh, and BTW, I love Scotland. Beautiful country.
