  • In this video we will discuss which solution is better, using a Long HDMI cable or send HDMI over ethernet.
    www.orei.com
It is recommended that HDMI source and destination devices be no farther than 15 feet apart for the best result. However, HDMI cables can extend this reliably to about 30 feet. Also, if well constructed (and that doesn't necessarily mean ultra-expensive), some HDMI cables can extend signal integrity up to 50 feet.
One way to extend HDMI is with Ethernet cables. The same cable of Ethernet Cat5, 5e, 6, and Cat7 cables used to connect devices to an internet router or home/office network can also transfer the audio and video signals used in a home theater setup.

I purchased a REI HDMI Ethernet and hooked up the receiver end to my Receiver on my home system everything is hooked up to my home system. I was able to get the dvd and sound to the tv. However, when I tried to watch the news or UA-cam, streaming, etc… I get no sound coming back. Additional information, I hooked up the HDMi 2.1 cable from the tv hdmi arc port to the receiver output to the HDMI Ethernet box. Am I missing something for me not to get sound back to my home system? Thanks for any suggestions.

Can I get the kit with Tx (transmit) and Rx (Receive) but do not use the TX (transmit) end just plug in the ethernet to back of my ""device"" which would be a graph" that has a ethernet port out. then use the other adapter labeled ( RX receiving ) plug that into the ethernet end and that gives you HDMI then plug that in to the TV will that work to mirror the image from the graph to the TV or do both and have to be hooked up to the cat

I bought EX-170C to extend my Xbox one (1080p) from one room to another over the internal Ethernet wiring in my house. The distance between the 2 points is less than 20 metres but the video signal I am getting has a weird green tint, more like an overlay. I have tried different Ethernet cables and HDMI cables to make it work but it doesn’t. Anyway, I have asked Amazon for a refund as the product is advertised to work up to a distance of 164feet (~50 metres) but it doesn’t.

Is there delay introduced when pushing HDMI through ethernet compared to having a direct HDMI to HDMI device such as a gaming console to tv?
Also curious if there is also delay through wireless hdmi.

The Ethernet extenders don't introduce delay, but wireless HDMI does.

what is the latency the converters have? converting from hdmi to ethernet and from ethernet to hdmi? the total latency in millisecond...?

I don't know what world you live in, but most houses still don't have ethernet cables pre-wired, and even if they do, most likely it's going to be cat 5E.
