  • Make sure you put the bolts underneath the platen to make sure the glass doesn't go into the belt if it breaks. Also the trizact belts are backwards in grits so a 300 is = to 80 grit. Just make sure you look up what you need.

    You do not have to cut part of the drive wheel guard. All you have to do is run an old 36-40 belt on the machine for a while until it no longer rubs. Problem, solved. The part of the guard you need to cut off is on the top wheel so you can use that wheel for contouring your knives and scales.

    The JB weld is holding up great. You can also make your own platen if your crafty out of hardened 5160 or 0-1.

      I used gorilla brand 2 sided tape, over a year ago and its still holding ;)

    Great mods!!! I want to cut the guard away from the bottom wheel. Can you tell me how you did that.

      Flatter surface,less heat build up,crisper plunge lines when making knives.

      I never had to replace the spring on mine. Seemed pretty robust!

      If you dont know where to get belts from then you just need to leave belt grinders alone and possibly all tools. ;)
