This is outstanding. I have the Norse model and the belt speed is the biggest draw back. I have most of the stuff to do this with. Thanks a lot for helping save temper on steel!!
I love how he says "I built this for only $10", then adds that he already had the expensive parts 🤪 Great idea though, and when I get the parts, I'll definitely build it l.
I have the exact same grinder so I'm enjoying your mods. After I cut away a bunch of safety mess on mine I found that it works much better for my use. A thought on what you've done there. If you took the belt sander system off of the base unit, welded up a small stand, and built a shaft with two simple bearings, you'd have the exact same setup you have now, but you'd still have your original grinder, with disc, and you could put something where the belt used to be like a buffing wheel.
thank you for sharing brother! So genius and will help a lot of people. I'm going to build one of these to use until my Wilmont TAG 101 is ready. I'll still use this setup for handles and rough profiling. thanks again for sharing!
Great mod, thanks for sharing. This was my first grinder and it's speed was it's biggest drawback for grinding blades. Looks like you haven't posted anything new in five years so for all I know you may be done with knife making but for what it's worth...nice solve.
I'm just about to buy a new belt sander I just made my first knife about a week ago! Lol it turned out good but filling it took forever by hand. Anyway I came across your ch here because I was looking to see if there was a review on the belt sander you have lol Did it do ok before all the mods u did? Or should I look into something else? Anyway i added your channel. Thanks
A dimmer switch will only work on a universal motor, small motors with brushes like routers, or ceiling fans. . If a dimmer switch would work, no one would bother to do anything else. You would smoke the motor used in the video if you tried, go ahead see if you don't smoke your motor.
*Worked great for my first project.>>>**9m.no/톛쁮** Easy to change belts and never felt under powered. This is a small machine so don't think you're going to hog off a lot of material quickly. Only for small projects and you'll be happy. I did back off the back plate for the belt to press against while grinding so it had some give and contour ability and if you don't you'll get the bounce where the belt is connected, but that's normal in my experience.*

JonesHvac you have to do the platen mod or you cant make a plunge line
yeah you are generating power with your original motor
Stay crafty my friend!
AC stands for alternating current
Why couldn't you just detach the belt grinder from the stock motor and attach it to the larger motor?? Thank you for your time ...

yes absolutely.. you'll need to tone it down actually.
is this machine good for grinding bevels on knives?
Is this still working for you?
So you used a motor to drive another motor? Or did you do for the other RPM's
Is the craftsman grinder powerful enough to make knives without the mod ?
2:00 i thought you are going to grind your lens off
I can't post a picture of what I'm talking about. I'll see if I can send it to you.
hi can you make a set for me please thx
