  • November was such a successful month for us! I don't expect us to make so much progress EVERY month, but it certainly was an encouraging start to our journey tackling our debt in earnest.
    I really owe it all to YOU, so I owe a HUGE THANK YOU to anyone who has purchased from my shop, liked/watched/commented on my videos, or followed/engaged with me on instagram, because it all contributes to the growth of my side hustle and I want you all to know how much I appreciate every little thing that you do for me! 💖
    PS - I am planning a giveaway for the end of the year, so keep an eye out for that!!

    Dave Ramsey says, “Adults devise a plan & stick to it, children do what they want to do”.
    Just curious; why are you still using a credit card? You spent over $900 on the card & gained less than $11 back. You can’t get out of a hole by digging out the bottom. Also you really should have sinking funds because you are going to spend the money anyway. A small amount set aside each paycheck allows you keep your snowball intact. Please review what Dave says about sinking funds - that you should have them especially around car & home maintenance. If you aren’t a follower of Dave Ramsey ignore all of above.

      Hi Robbie, Thanks for watching! First, I'd like to just reassure that we in no way use the card with the intention of getting rewards. Secondly, this is our first month transitioning off of the card. I'd like to stop using it altogether, (I personally don't use the card at all, only our debit card). Also, I basically pay off any recent transactions at least weekly just to account for things that DO end up on the card. And finally, In terms of sinking funds, I'll be establishing them soon, however right now I'd rather put as much money towards the debt as possible. I'd feel better with $200 less on the card gaining interest than I would with $200 in a bank account. (hope that makes sense) With our current income, I feel pretty good about being able to cash flow things that come up. All that to say: Yes, I try to apply as much of Dave's principles as I can, however, I'm not a Dave Ramsey "purist" either ;) Thank you so much for watching and for your suggestions!!

      I will probably be filming it on Monday! I’m planning it out today but it’s nearly impossible to film unless my daughter is in school lol! It will be a mid-month check-in and a brief overview on how I use YNAB throughout the month to keep an eye on how things are going... hoping it turns out how I envision it 😊

    I enjoyed seeing that big payoff on your credit card? Do you have a sinking fund for taxes in case of owing for having your own business or do you think you may have enough write offs?

    • @CaffeinatedCait
      @CaffeinatedCait  5 років тому +1

      Thank you Nicole! It felt REALLY good to pay so much off :) Yes, I track all of my expenses/income in Quickbooks so I have an idea of how much I would owe, and I keep a little more than that tucked away in a business account...the taxes get set aside before I pay myself, so you'll probably never see it in one of these videos (unless I start getting into business stuff) Thanks for watching!

    Ms Cait, I was wondering the point of canceling the 401k, when your only using your income for bills and not your husbands. It's important for your retirement. Take this from someone that had a late start in contributing to my 401. As a single mom I couldn't .

    • @CaffeinatedCait
      @CaffeinatedCait  5 років тому +2

      Thank you for your concern Tracy! We aren't neglecting retirement entirely, We are using Dave Ramsey's "baby steps" method, which recommends stopping retirement contributions while you are getting out of debt. The purpose is to throw everything you can at your debt to get out as quickly as possible. Once you're out of debt and have a 3-6 month emergency fund in place, the next step is to put 15% of your income into retirement, which would be super easy to manage because you won't have any debt payments at that point (besides a mortgage)

    • @CaffeinatedCait

      Hi Stephanie! No we don't use it for rewards. November was our first month transitioning off of the card, so a few of the expenses were just auto-pays that didn't get switched off yet. Besides that, my husband is a little more resistant to using the debit card ;)
