I miss MTV 2, although there's still outlets for alternative music it was nice having a mainstream tv channel that would give air time to unknown bands. Admittedly this was usually later in the night when they weren't just blasting 7 Nation Army and No-one Knows on repeat.
Only heard them this year thanks to spotify thinking they were a fairly new band, surprised to see how old they are. And this tune, wow, great melody and the guitar work is lifting
One of my fave Idlwild tracks and yes that is Gertrude Stein in the images ......... "Gertrude Stein said that's enough now". Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose ...... GS, Sacred Emily 1913
I saw Idlewild in 2003, I only came here to see what light the video sheds on Gertrude Stein as I've never heard her name mentioned outside of this song
omfg i love this and i love you posting this. i just found this song today and i'm in love with it. i'm so glad the band doesn't look like a emo scene wannabe band so original! :D
Too bad if you slept on this band. They made more great albums the last 15 years than anyone else. If you're just now hearing them for the first time, do yourself a favor and go dig deeper into their music.
They went from a raging indie destroying instruments on-stage to mild-mannered middle-of-the-road respectful boring who cares anymore band. 'Roseability' was somewhere between early and and established indie alternative selling artists of that briliant yet lost era in music.
And then I collected an official message on the comms… Citizen *8356, Arturo Burns… you have received a pedestrian violation and traffic endangerment notice. You are hereby charged… based upon the automated evidence, ref 948732… have been found guilty in this instance… The fine will be deducted from your credit account with immediate effect… Traffic Control Department…“Sake…?”
I saw Idlewild back in the day, and Roddy Woomble solo too. Great band, great songwriter but if this is a paean to Getrude Stein then I'll sit this one out, thanks. Nazi apologists / collaborators not my "scene".

One of the best. reminds me of a sick day I had decades ago. I fell asleep in front of MTV 2 with the flu and woke up to this. what a band.
I miss MTV 2, although there's still outlets for alternative music it was nice having a mainstream tv channel that would give air time to unknown bands. Admittedly this was usually later in the night when they weren't just blasting 7 Nation Army and No-one Knows on repeat.
Pretty much everything great about the 90s condensed into a few minutes. Love it all!
Seen them 2 months ago, best live band I’ve seen for ages
I'm jealous. The end.
I saw them in mid 2000’s in Perth with my late uncle. Low key gig but a great night. Yes mega underrated

Only heard them this year thanks to spotify thinking they were a fairly new band, surprised to see how old they are. And this tune, wow, great melody and the guitar work is lifting

@@GreenDayDookieDemos Awwwww... :)
Their best song. Love this one.
SWOTBWOT wtf
I was head of percussion in our high school and the drummer in this band asked me to teach him some stuff. Looks like it stuck a bit. Good on him.
When we were all younger and more beautiful but just didn't know it.
Female narcissism in action.
One of my fave Idlwild tracks and yes that is Gertrude Stein in the images ......... "Gertrude Stein said that's enough now".

Awesome tune, awesome band!
"I know that, that's enough now"
G. Stein 1874-1946
It's often I want to bother my neighbors, and when I do, I blast this and Courtney Collins' cover, which is excellent

By the way, What is Roseability?
What should I translate into Korean?
야간근무자 rose is a flower, ability is being capable of doing something. Roseability... no idea.

3 people agreed with Gertrude Stein.

Great tune, but really contrived live performance element...

Great tune, great band but the drummer always annoyed me cos he could never set his kit up properly.
