So so in my opinion, and the way it is is that filler is a master of the masters. That’s why it looks so casual and easy. But Earl seems to be unable to recognize greatness in other people
I love Earl but I'll be damned if Filler is just "lucky". The way he just fires balls in- he's a machine. He can afford to be careless because he can make any shot with ease. Similar to Jayson but even more talent imo.
If you notice, Earl criticizes all the best players except Shane, and he goes easy on the lesser players. I think it's his way of staying competitive with the best of the best in his mind- maybe if he acknowledges how good they are he will not feel as confident when playing them. Then again, Earl is a beast too, as long as he is able to find his high gear and keep his cool, he can still compete with anyone on Earth.
I don’t think he’s careless at all. I think he believes his best chance is to quickly see what he needs to do and then to do it without any time for fear or indecision to distract. It’s also more efficient to play that way which keeps more fuel in the tank for the following matches and for really difficult situations.
I like the open bridge but the snooker guys can't play pool very well. Earl's argument would be that the open bridge doesn't give enough power. And you need a lot more power in your stroke for pool.
These events are usually held in hotels and resorts during off season so not a lot of people there to watch. EPBF is focusing more on creating good conditions for players
Earl open bridge is preferred by snooker players see object ball better. Rule of choice is for t.v. Because the game goes faster. Hence no soft breaks in 9 ball too slow again for t.v. Or streaming. Keep up the good work try to focus on the positive a bit please sir.
Earl's point is that the snooker players are lousy at pool, in part, because they lack cueing power. And his belief is part of that issue is the open bridge. They can get away with it in snooker because it requires so much less cueing power and variety of shot. I tend to agree. Also, his opinion on the rules doesn't require your stamp of "positivity". The guy is one of the all time greats and should be expressing whatever he thinks. You, on the other hand, should shut your mouth and try to understand what he's saying more before you speak.
@@johntallanger4036 Try not being so rude, would ya. Truth is Filler can develop more stroke with an open bridge than Earl can with a closed. Not many of the shots in this match req. a power stroke. With a closed bridge Earl couldn't come close to Joshua, Corey, or Jayson's power. An open bridge allows more ball sight. After playing this game for 40+ years I switched from closed to open fom every shot except power draw, and I'll not go back!
@@duffyrobert19 You just agreed with virtually everything I said. Maybe try fixating less on what is or isn't rude to clean up communication. Yes, Lely has basically gone to the same style you have. I'm not sure it's correct. Tables play so fast that you can get away with it and in some ways it may even be preferred. My hunch is whatever Filler is doing is correct. However, none of that is in contradiction with my point or Earls. You even acknowledge you play closed for a power draw. You probably should for a power follow as well. And to break. Open bridge became trendy when everyone thought the snooker guys knew what they were doing and were going to take over pool. We're still living in the remnants of that. I don't have the full answer but open bridge on everything doesn't seem to be it. Especially when you consider 3 cushion players all play closed for how much power that requires. Lastly, where you are completely incorrect, I think, is that Earl's tecbnique can't generate as much stroke power as the players you mentioned's technique. Where are you getting that idea from?
I’ve watched a TON of online pool, matches, etc and this is quite easily the worst commentating I’ve experienced. Complained about every camera angle, didn’t explain much and only called out the obvious shots.
@@michaelhoffman4273 Oh my god, I'm so ignorant. I had no idea it was Earl and I'm even more shocked I couldn't tell just from his voice (or read the description).
i love hearing earl talk shit about filler. can't wait to see them play at the masconi cup!
That's just Earl's mental preparation for the cup 😆
Earl it's a pleasure hearing your insight
One match I always wanted to see is you, Earl, playing Filler. Maybe at Mosconi. Let’s hope
Good commentary from Earl, called it the way it is!

I enjoy Earl's raw perspective on the way the players shoot. LOL
Luv Earl commentating

@@stevehiggerson7328 Exactly, especially against a lesser opponent. Just easy cruisin in 3rd gear.
especially with how young he is. my god
Yep makes sense I'm just going by what Earl said
Earl...the guy who loves pool more than any person who ever played the game.....one of a kind.....
I hope Earl plays Filler one on one in the Mosconi Cup
open bridges are very accurate. look at snooker.. uk pool and chines 8 ball

Love your narrating Earl you are the GOAT
He is
Earl is there anyway you can get more say-so about the camera angle while you're commentating.
He’s not there
If your technique is on point you can do almost all shots with an open bridge. Most people 'lose' the cue at end of the stroke.
Spot on commentary
earl's saltiness about the camera angles brought me happiness today
Earl Strickland the GOAT. Careful with the snakes that surround you champ!
Prophetic
@@daaam2160 what happened?
Filler is natural!

Earl really doesn't like it when people shoot with open bridges, even if they're winning.

Because you arent a player.
