Important....I noticed that your handline only had a lure on it. Take a look at the water behind your cat as you sail. You will see a bubble field in the water trailing you. Fish follow that because they think it's a bait ball. When you set up you handline, you need to firstly, have a lure lead, ie. an object that moves erratically in the water, in front of your leader for your lure. This gets the fish's interest right away. You want this lead to rest in farthest out area of your bubble field. Following the lead on your handline comes a fairly long leader that attaches to your lure. What happens is that the fish come up to investigate the bubble field, take a look at the lead on your line and when they lose interest, they move further back to where your lure is. Then they hit your lure....it's kinda like a fish seduction...wine them, then dine them. If you don't have a lure lead, people have adapted all kinds of things, just so it moves around in the water. A line with a lure is boring....with movement, you excite the fish and they hit your lure more often. Seriously, people have adapted empty beer cans and flip flops for a lead and it still works. Good luck and catch a big one.

Gees, I had to laugh so hard about the story about the fishermen. I felt exactly the same way when sailing in that area, I just could not figure out what they were trying to say and was stuck in the same dilemma of “is this where I am supposed to go or NOT” 😂. I did get caught in one of them, so I guess that was the wrong 50% of the two choices.
Hey, what month did u do the crossing from Ecuador to Rapa Nui? Maybe u mentioned it...I might have missed it then.
    Hope all is going well!

Here is the fact that archeologists have been ignoring it all along. Ever since the ancient people started to built a home from mud or bricks then little by little we learned construction and architect, and then skyscrapers. When we found out how to make a piece of glass then we learned how to make glass window, magnifying glass, telescope, binocular, camera, and Hubble Space Telescope. Or when we received the knowledge of Binary numbers little by little we came up with computer and many different computer software. Or when the first person draw an address with a stick on some sands then we came up with Art of drawing, painting, and different types of way to paint and so on.
I am trying to say that whatever humans learned at the beginning then it was continued and developed in the future, except when we saw those ancient constructions all around the world about 3000 years ago. How come our knowledge did not develop to rebuilt those Pyramids, Sphinx, those walls in Machu Picchu, or those humongous walls in Cusco and Sacsayhuaman in Peru and Olanta Tambo walls and other mysterious walls which was built anti Earthquake. Or Moaie in Eastern Island, Nazca lines, those huge Jars in Laos, Costa Rica's Round Stones, then Colossi of Memnon, Stonehenge, and other mysterious construction????
This shows that those mysterious buildings and constructions WAS NOT BUILT BY HUMANS otherwise we would have seen them today because, those kinds of Architects were developed by humans and we would have learned how to built them today. Now we have the scientific facts based on mathematics, the exact science to prove these facts in the court of law. You may watch (#13) videos of this channel.

2 things i learned 50 yrs ago....... 1, if at all possible , never buy a wooden const. boat, an 2 , pay the 500-1000 for a 'marine survey, they would have detected the amount of moisture in your boat, and any at all and an insurance comp. will not insure until repaired.... i know, thats what i did for yrs. ...... chow for now, steve

Infinitesimal was the word you were searching for. It is defined in mathematics as... Infinitesimals... "Things that are so small that there is no way to properly measure them." Anyway... It's good to see this installment of Sailing Zingaro even though we already know what happens later. In retrospect... I noticed that this was probably the most food I have ever seen aboard Zingaro at any one time. Literally the antithesis of Infinitesimal. It's kind of hard to see how good you were both feeling about this passage and the shape of the boat overall. All the while knowing that she was actually on one of her final passages.
It's sad to think she's shipwrecked. I have been watching these video's from almost the very beginning and as a result I have felt so close to Zingaro for so long now. It's still kinda hard to accept that she is no longer sea worthy... But the captain and crew of Zingaro are still sea worthy and that is the most important thing as far as I'm concerned. I can handle the loss of Zingaro but I would never be able to accept the loss of my two internet friends James and Kimmy. From a far you two mean quite a lot to me and I am very thankful that both of you made it to safe harbor. You will both resume sailing around the world and that fact means the world to me.
I have the honor to remain your internet friend... Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I

Hey Kimmi, in exchange for learning English from James (actually I think your English is fine) you can teach him Metric so he doesn't have to use cave man measurements any more, start with 1L of water = 1Kg which is a lot easier than 1 gal = 8.34 lb.

So stoked for you both and happy to help on Kickstarter. What an incredible fast response. Let us all know if it IS a record!
I discovered my boat sails far far better and closer to the wind with 1 reef in the main (loose footed). My sailmaker was surprised and disagreed when I discussed it with him but I know how my boat sails best and also you-yours.
Have to say.. slightly unnerving watching this knowing what is about to happen but at least we know its a happy ending. Keep the content coming were living this journey with you and OH so envious! 2 more years before my bigger adventures can begin.
Oh and I think you meant ' infinitesimal'! means things so small that there is no way to measure them. Good luck

I see that your Kickstarter will be over subscribed. Do not use the overage above the downpayment to simply pay down the loan.
Put the excess funds in a dedicated interest bearing account to pay the boat mortgage payment and insurance. This will give you about a year of flexibility on your monthly loan payment -- you do not want to subject yourself to foreclosure if you have a short term cash flow problem. This is very important.

The Kickstarter is successful!!!!!! Looking good for Season 2 on a catamaran. Just make sure it's got shark teeth upfront as well please.

Try trolling drone spoons on a number 2 planer. I think you will have better success with fishing. The number 2 planer is small enough to hand line. Use a long leader to attach the drone spoon to the planer. It very affective at catching all types of fish. I catch more fish on drone spoons then trolling Lures.

This video has been out for some time now. Hope to see a video at least once a week from this point forward because your adventure is SO RAD! I can't wait to see which Schionning catamaran you purchased! That design is the coolest cat afloat no matter which design you get!

Watching this, I realise just how "lucky" you were that the boat didn't let you down until you were within a bull's roar of safety! Love you two, can't wait to see what happens next!

infinitesimal is a word and means extremely small. You just forgot the 'in' so all is forgiven.
