Exploring Easter Island after 18 days at sea | Ep.71

- With ancient statues, pink sand and beautiful coral, Anakena is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. We are very lucky to be staying here for a couple of days, as it's only accessible in the right conditions and those can change quickly around here.
We take full advantage of the favorable weather and sail, dive, fly the drone, and explore the only beach on Easter Island. Hope you love it.
There is a constant "calm-before-the-storm-feeling" here on Rapa Nui, which puts a constant stress on boaters, but also makes you appreciate the "good days" more.
Big shout out to Rick for bringing us the autopilot. You are the man, my brother, thank you very much. We had a great time with you on this Island. What an adventure! 💙

Hi guys! We hope this finds you all healthy and happy in this coronavirus lockdown. Stay safe, much love! -K/J
ps - Please give Kim a round of applause for this amazing video! Do you guys agree that it's her best yet? Way to go Kimmi!
Slick, slick edit. Awesome balance and flow.
Thanks so much for sharing this. Its great to see Rapa Nui from the sea! I really enjoy your content.
Exciting stuff Kimmi and James! Shout out to Rick for the help getting your new autopilot aboard! Stay safe everyone!
Man when you were dragging behind the boat all I could think of was a barracuda taking the bait, If you know what I mean.
Hahaha. Maybe that was a bad idea...
Thanks for a great video guys, I was there in Rapa Nui for exactly 40 years ago when I sailed around the Pacific Ocean and was young and crazy like you. Thanks by bring back a lot of nice memories. Now I'm sailing "in dry" from my living room in Stockholm, Swede. Take care and be safe.
Awesome, hope to explore it someday
We think the two weeks of editing work were worth the result. It remains to be seen whether the chefs' aluminum construction does what it promises. In any case, the female cook did not spoil the porridge with this episode, did a great job, gave us an atmospheric overall impression and made us laugh. 😊
Zu viele Köche verderben den Brei ... too many cooks spoil the broth
Das sind schlechte leute fur diese sehr gutte Madchen :)
broth is like a Brühe, I'd say porridge instead
Its funny how she pronounced "Köche". She really looses her german.
Gdzie kucharek 6 tam nie ma co jeść - to po polsku
Mehrere Köche versalzen die Suppe. That is soooo sweet. I think you were blending two idioms. 1. Zu viele Köche verderben den Brei. 2. Jemandem die Suppe versalzen. That just happens it is the way the brain works. :D Love your show, you two are great! xoxoxo
I have to compliment the editing work on this video, it's the little things that mostly go unnoticed that make all the difference. I was especially impressed with the sound quality and sound levels too, very nicely mixed but also impressively high levels with no noticeable distortion, that's something that no other channels seem to get right, what's the secret ?
Please share your secrets with all the other channels on YT !
Cant wait to see the New Cat!!!!
What!. A New Cat.
Yeah, a long time ago there were too many chefs in the kitchen, and before the soup was made too salty, the excess cooks were turned into stone statues. This is not an Aesop fable - it is a KImmi Fable, and it explains how the statues got there in the first place. There is no written documentation describing how the soup came out. Easter Island - a very special place. :¬) Webhead USA
Almost the same as in Sweden... Ju fler kockar, desto sämre soppa.
Too many cooks spoil the soup. Love your videos 😊
Easter island is awesome! Thanks for bringing that to us knowing it was a great cost to you guys. 👍👍👊, Kimmi is ♨️ as usual 😍
Easter Island Airport
Mataveri International Airport or Isla de Pascua Airport is at Hanga Roa on Rapa Nui. The most remote airport in the world, it is 2,336 miles from Santiago, Chile which has scheduled flights to it on the Chilean carrier LATAM Chile. Wikipedia
Awesome job on the video! Start my day off "at work" with two thumbs up. And simple version..."Too many cooks spoil the broth". Probably a billion variations as well :-)
Yep!! 😂
I AM HAPPY, while watching your videos!!
Stopped everything I was doing to watch your adventure! Stay safe, and have fun! Till next time.....
Tons of people don't understand boating/sailing..... shit truly breaks every single time you take your boat out! Thats a fact! Thats why you two are by far the best on UA-cam at telling your story or a story! You keep it all the way 💯! So inspired & ready for Zingaro II
Loved it! Not many people get to do that. What an experience you had there! Can’t wait to see the next episode.
I watch sailing videos to see yachts sailing. Thank you for showing some sailing. I would be delighted if you could include the trip between anchorages and ports. Cheers Gray Australia
My Mum was german and when Dad brought her back from Germany after the WW2 to the UK she also slowly lost her German, but occasionally swore at Dad in German when they had a rare argument, cheers guys so sad what happened to you how about an update on whats happening right now.
Watching again, no wonder I loved these guys. Kimmie is super chill. And a powerful spirit. Love .
Kimmi in English we have a saying "too many cooks spoil the broth" which is probably originally derived from German since English is a Germanic language.
"We couodn't have attached the new autopilot without making the boat look super ghetto." No, you wouldn't want a ghetto-looking boat. 😂😂😂
Bon courages Amigo capétien en Madame 😍😘💫⛵🎉🌴💐👍🙏
watching your movies for a couple of years now, and I must say you are the best sailing team on the youtube. Keep it up! Hope I will meet you some day :)
What in heck do you troll for using a naked dude as bait?
Mermaids?
Awesome vid Kimmi!
Im a little lost here ..Didn't you guys lose the boat last year due to damage ?? Maybe these are old videos and you just now posting still fantastic just curious because Im kinda lost with this channel on whats going on
What would break a linear arm? Too many cooks spoil the soup! With quadrant won’t you change the ratio of the wheel?
OMFG this channel is absolutely hypnotic
Wicked good stuff

How is Corona things in Eastern Island now? No lock down there? Stay safe, greeting from Iceland
I really enjoy your videos because they are so real....cause in point are the issues you are having with the auto pilot
More.... We need more videos.
We miss you guys. Shout out from Chicago.
Bless you both.
Two many cooks spoil the broth
James what do you think the statues are?
What time of the year were you there?
Respect for your ingenuity and tenacity. Glad you were able to sort out the quadrant issue. Love the line in reference to the pasta . . action on the other side of Zingaro! hahaha. thanks for another great episode
too many cooks spoil the broth
Dude if you were constant with you videos you would have 200,000 subscribers by now! Love your vids best sailing vids on utube!
Yeah, but then we'd just be putting out trash. It'll ramp up with the next boat... Stay tuned!
@@thelastpirate looking forward to it
OH MY GOD MY BROTHAS❤🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🤑🤑
You guys Rock!!! Love the way you live!!!!
It's a good feeling when you make a solution to a tricky problem. Excellent work.
Hey bro AWESOME video! Hope all is well with you in Hawaii... Blessings and HAPPY THOUGHTS! Carl :-)
Umm Rick is hot!!!
@Sailing Zingaro , this episode made me recall Three Fish's self titled 1996 album with Jeff Ament, Robbi Robb, and Richard Stuverud. Namely the songs The Intelligent Fish, Zagreb, The Half Intelligent Fish, and Stupid Fish. You'd enjoy the album James.
James. Just caught your article in Sail Magazine. A good read and much more depicting of the event. So as we used to say back in the 60's, "go head on brother". Good luck to you and the first mate. I'll be watching your adventure. Ps.....no more wood. Capt Kaz
Zuviele Koeche verderben den Brei. 😌
Pretty courageous sailing this far. I am concerned about the condition of the catamaran. Best wishes.
Cool video!
Great vlog Miss Kimmi. Very, very good work on the videos. You and James have come a long way since starting to cruise. I admire you two and the adventures you have accomplished. I hope you are keeping a vlog diary so when you stop or slow down cruising, you can use the vlogs to write books, talkie books, travel brochures, just anything to keep your minds busy and hopefully to make some money to live on.
Excellent episode for sure and very well edited Kimmi!! BTW, don't go loosing your German, that's something you want to keep with you for life!! I wish you guys would have shown the how the autopilot worked out, maybe next episode, until then stay safe and live each day like it's gonna be your last!!!!
great job guys
Thanks James & Kimi for a wonderful adventurous sailing video. From wikipedia: It was believed that the living had a symbiotic relationship with the dead in which the dead provided everything that the living needed (health, fertility of land and animals, fortune etc.) and the living, through offerings, provided the dead with a better place in the spirit world. Most settlements were located on the coast, and most moai were erected along the coastline, watching over their descendants in the settlements before them, with their backs toward the spirit world in the sea.
best video yet, stunning island, hope all is going well on your cat hunting ( 2 hulls)
Gorgeous Cinematography well done! What an interesting island your so lucky to visit. Looks like you guys earned this beautiful destination keeping the Cat together. Can’t wait for your new adventures, stay safe and aware.
It's pretty crazy how they moved those stones to get them where they are. They supposedly carved them, and then "walked" them my heaving them back and forth just right to make the stones walk themselves.
LOL, KISS principle strikes again - Keep It Simple Stupid - good on ya bud.
Nice
Miss yall, hope you are doing well. Only real sailors truly understand that Zingaro intro. Willing the boat forward is part of every adventure.
Miss the video you guys can't wait for the new vessel and exciting videos much love from trinidad and Tobago
Very Beautiful ☺👍
Its to bad the boat got wrecked. The water is so clear there. I talk to the Easter Island on Ham Radio.
I hope you didn't go anywhere near them, they get super nasty if you do. How's the new boat coming along?
FIRST!!!! I know I’m not but everyone seems to enjoy typing “First” so I decided I would try it.......it is fun.
Love the opening shot with the kitty first, and only notice the Moai after a few seconds. I though that was a cool way to do the opening.
Still...the best intro theme ever. Thank you for sharing this beautiful island
Great video editing colors crisp sharp over and underwater ...bests , abrazos.
Epic location - wow!
Love the scene of you two swimming in front of your boat. What is the music with that?
I enjoy your videos and I am enjoying watching your saga play out.
Fabulous video the boat and drone footage was breathtaking
Thank you for this break from our lockdowns!
Take good care!
NEVER ANY PROBLEMS ONLY OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREATIVITY
Is Kimmy back on the boat? Did she make it back from Germany?
So MANY " That's what she said moments" LOL
The definition of crusing is fixing your boat in exotic locations🤣
Looks like an amazing place!
It was magical.
I seriously felt like I was there you made me cry thank you
What's the latest on a new boat? I haven't heard.
When are you coming back Brother.
Beautiful beach shot👌
Good on you Rick for helping out in a big way
"TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE POT"
what is the opening song titel?
Good video. How's it looking for salvaging the boat? Or are you gonna have to start over? 😎
Yes, I missed it somewhere too. I thought their boat came apart???
What is the music at 8:30?
You guys are awesome!!!
Was Easter Island spiritual in your experience?
Looks spoilt with hotels and people swimming. IMHO should be left wild.
Wow beautiful
Did anyone else snicker when James stated that a particular alteration to the autopilot would make it appear ghetto...? hmmm...
Lame!
don’t lose your German, kimmy
I think this could be an old edit and she might be in Germany right now recharging her German for sure.
👍
You have an awesome voice and what a great intro. Hey, If I become a patron, do I pay for my own travel expense if I'm chosen to come aboard? I'm asking because I'm living la broka in a sense but not as la broka as you too, I think. By the way, I might be able to teach you some knots. I used to race Tornado and Nacra catamarans as well as other boats of all types and lived aboard TeVega for a year which is now called Deva. Check out the gaff rigged schooner Deva to see what she looks like. You will be amazed.
