@@jonjay2909 We have actually done that with my niece (My best friends daughter.) when she was going on one of her dates. I answered the door first and acted liked I was pissed the fuck off and slammed the door when I pulled it open and said "Who in the actual fuck is you" He had this scared shitless look on his face! ha ha ha...
This is the best of the lot. The story - two aging cops. One, who wants to settle down and look after his family, whilst the other, still wants to act like a man in his 20's, go after criminals and live the single life. The villains - both mother & son were definitely not your usual run-of-the-mill villains. The mother was definitely a woman scorned! The action was more coherent and the storyline took a dark turn towards the end by killing off a favourite character. The new directors did things Michael Bay would never do with these characters. They also brought in new, younger characters that imbued new life into the franchise. The fact they actually let the characters know that they are no longer the young bucks they once were, was something most actors would shy away from. But they didn't. That's what makes Bad Boys for life a better film than the two previous films.
Love how you pointed out the contrast between Beverly Hills Cop and Beverly Hills Cop 2. The first one was definitely comedy centric with a pinch of good action. The second one was an action movie with a little comedy thrown in because of the dynamic between now familiar characters. You can definitely tell they were directed by two different directors. Martin Brest for the first one and Tony Scott (who just came off the success of Top Gun) in the second. Even the tone and look of both films are super different. I like them both but they definitely feel different. I don’t even mention the third one... waste of time.
The thing I liked most about the movie was then they played that "Do do do do do doooo" song. That was the main thing that I didn't like about the second movie (because they didn't play it, only once but like a echoey, spooky, atmospheric type of way. So I'm glad that they played that song. And they played it a lot too
It's greatest feeling to be a "huge fan of the movies" *IF* and when, they understand that the *fanbase" has also, matured/grown older along with the main "heroes?!" - So, seems like this franchise is working in this respect!
I have a January birthday also and was cracking up at your intro! Sooooo shocked how enjoyable this movie was, was not sure they still had it in em and throughly looking forward to seeing whats next!
This movie is rated PG-13 (or 14A in other places). Because of this, I thought it wasn't gonna be that violent and it would feel different in tone (because the other movies are rated R, or in other places, 18+). But it surprised me of how violent and how much swearing there was. As I was watching the movie, I kept thinking that the rating for this movie was wrong or that I thought it was PG-13. Sometimes the MPAA is whack. But all in all, I thought the movie was average (5/10). To me, it was over rated. This happened because I had no expectations of this movie at first. When I saw the trailer I thought it was going to be okay or mediocre. Especially since I learned that movies that come out in January usually sucks (especially horror movies). But when I started hearing people saying that it was good, I was going to see it (especially since me and my friends were planning to go to see a movie). So in preparation, me and my friends watched all the Bad Boys movies. We had a pretty good time watching them. I thought the first one was okay (6/10) but the second one was awesome (8/10). Since I really liked the second one, I had higher hopes for the third one. I didn't put my hopes too high though. I just expected a funny good action movie. But I was disappointed. But I can see why people like it though. Can you review the rest of them. Good review though 👍
I'm thinking about seeing this movie but havent seen the others. Can someone who's seen this tell me whether i should watch the other 2 first or can i go into this completely fresh?
I never like BB 2 olny action sequence on highway but i LOVE Bad Boys first movie. One of my favorite action movies of all time. BB2 was disapointed movie. I hope this one is better.
Great review Cody, I enjoyed this movie, great chemistry between Smith & Lawrence it's still there & surprisingly couple shock twists. My only gripe was the ending which I thought jumped the shark with that reveal about who the villain is, I just didn't buy it & it left me feeling a bit disappointed after all the previous good work.
I’m so glad (in hindsight) that they let this installment marinate for as long as they did. Thanks Will lol. Being a huge fan of Martin & Will before “Bad Boys”, I’ll obviously be drunk on nostalgia, but the movie really delivers. More than anything else, this movie brought a lot of heart. I enjoyed all of the other characters as well. I can’t lie, there were some touching moments that really worked. But, the way they blended the light moments with the more somber ones with effective action sequences in between was brilliant. The OG will always be my fav, but I genuinely love this movie!
This might be one of your better reviews Cody.I havent watched a TON of your videos but this one feels better.AND you being a SUPERFAN might be the reason. The way you fleshed out the characters and the over all feel of the movie felt real and indepth and there was passion in the way you delivered it. Im not a big "bad boys" fan,but after seeing this review i might watch when it streams. I can only hope to be as good at reviewing as you and Lee from Dumdrums and as in depth and intelligent sounding as Dave McRea...Thanks man!
..... Hey Cody, let me tell you something-- a very good, in depth review. I didn't really want to see this film, but it was better than I thought it would be. I like how it emulated Lethal weapon 2 a little, with it's use of some incredibly dangerous and well-financed foreign bad guys who wipe out a whole bunch of specific people (no spoilers please Stefan!). Again, good work Cody.
Bad Boys For Life & 1917 are Definitely The 2 Best January film of 2019 really enjoyed them and can't wait to get them on Blu-Ray they are Great & Emotional film's love em.
Thank you for this Cody! I was hoping this film was going to be good. I will be seeing this in the theatres next Monday (I work on the weekends. Ugh!)! Did I ever mention how much I LOVE your theme song in your videos? I bang out to it everytime! Great video and I appreciate your honesty as always - you judge these movies pretty accurately I think. Peace! ✌🏽
Just saw Bad Boys 3 and I LOVED it! I agree with you it has the best story of the three. It goes ways you don't expect it to go and I was pleased with that. Definitely worth the wait!
I loved it! Seen it Saturday. Jokes on point. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence were great. I thought the characters aged well. Cool story. Loved every minute.
This was sooooooo good! Way better than 2 but not quite better than 1. I particularly love how they brought back the main theme music from the first one!
Saw it just this morning, and I loved it. And yeah, I agree that it might just be the best one so far, because it ups the comedy, ups the action (results of releasing in this year), and it ups the stakes.
I didn't mind the epilogue scene because without that, I was wondering what the hell happened to a certain character, like did they just forget to wrap that up.
Hey cody your birthday is on January 12th mines is on January 17th the day this movie came out I watched it This was my birthday movie too! I loved it best experience I had In the theater before everything was locked down in March 2020 In a while.
Poor Martin Lawrence, all he wanted to do is not f**ked up his wife's car. It broke some box office records in the month of January, a month that is full of nothing movies until we get to the spring and summer box office season. That's impressive.
They dropped the ball with not naming the 4th movie “Bad Boys 4 Life” Hear me out tho… Still name it “Bad Boys 4 : Life” Where an old rival frames Marcus and Mike And they are facing life. So Gabrielle Union and the new young team are on the outside getting into a bunch of crazy shit, tryna dig up evidence to prove their innocence and set them free. Meanwhile Mike & Marcus are in county awaiting trial while locked up with a bunch of people they put away and want em dead.
I thought it was great! What i didn’t like was the fast and furious vibe I was getting. The main villain was almost a super human assassin and like you said, the post credit scene was something I could have done without
I usually hate critics since they dont speak for how I see a movie. Ill give this movie a chance in theaters and see if we have the same taste in movies :)
First of all Happy Birthday Cody 🎈🍰🎂. I was pleased to see the movie was great. Had alot of worries for the lenght of time between films. I literally almost died laughing when that body fell on the mini van. Only small issues where a few dialog moments where a to little Fast n Furious. Agreed the post credit scene wasn't needed, given some of the things a certain character did in the movie it didn't make sense
Remember Bad Boys for Life for being the film that brought life to January. Expect Hollywood to release good films on this month for years to come, because it can fucking work.
Fan of Bad Boys. Watched them as a kid. Third one was excellent. I didn’t like the CGI though. Lawrence and Will still got it. Must watch the fourth one now.
I honestly loved this movie I personally grew up with Bad Boys 2 being born in 99 then I watched Bad Boys 1 as time went on I think it's the best out of the three. I think Bay not direct helped the movie really stand out. The villain being tied to Mike was good. Martin Lawrence hasn't missed a step and Will is great as well. I love how they play with the theme of getting older and facing that was handled well.
For me at 47 years old the original 48 hours is the best buddy cop film done, then I love both the Lethal Weapon Franchise and the Rush Hour series. I never liked Bad Boys as Michael Bay is a hack and Will Smith who is one of the most talented actors of his generation phones it on too often like he does in Bad Boys, Men in Black, Wild Wild West and so on.... However I am pleased this was done well for those whom love it and for those whom were worried about this going thru so many different versions.
I enjoyed this one just as much as you did Cody. The villains were great, decent action scenes, love the AMMO guys, and, of course, loved Will Smith and Martin Lawrence back together again. Plus, I had no problem with the mid-credit post scene.
Bad boys for life is my favorite in the franchise imo the funniest one in the franchise Martin Lawrence coming back into the game (hope he does more) at his best in this one will smith still trying to live in his 20’s was some funny stuff the assassin in this the best throughout the franchise
i have seen it twice now, and the second time was just as enjoyable. Also with a projected international take of 100 million opening weekend on a 90 million dollar budget its a hit, they have announced they are already going ahead with part 4
That Captain Howard scene caught everyone in the theater off guard
Exactly. Didn’t see that coming.
That was the part I said OH SHIT
DeMarcus Murphy on God!!!
My mouth was open when the captain was killed off it surprised me!!!

There will never be a real Bad Boys without Bayhem. The genius of this guy only becomes apparent when he is missing.
