This is my favorite of the 3 console Evil Dead games (so much so that I got my PS2 copy signed by both Bruce Campbell & Ted Raimi) and it's imo one of the more underrated games out there so I'm happy that it's getting some love.
I'd like to see him continue with this, I liked his commentary during the Gameplay. I personally loved the TV series and wish they wrapped it up instead of being canceled, it was supposed to go into Mad Max style apocalypse in season 4
Sally, Ash's lawyer, is voiced by Nika Futterman (Who you oftenly confuse with Cree Summer, actually, most do), Dr. Vladimir and Raymond Knowby is voiced by Jim Ward (Captain Qwark), and of course, Sam is Ted Raimi, cause it's a Raimi law. Oh yeah, Debi Mae West (Meryl Silverburg) is a necromancer in this too. Bruce has done around 13 game (14 if you count MK11, if that happens ) Most are Ash roles, like in Evil Dead stuff and Dead By Daylight, but he did Jack Burton in Broken Helix, Pitfall Harry Jr. In Pitfall 3D, was the protagonist in Tachyon: The Fringe, Lennox in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC , and of course, 5 Spider-Man games (3 as a tutorial narrator, 1 redone for PC, and a reporter in that TASM1 game of all things.) (The fact that was already on the job before you said it shows you my character, and I did eve more than required lol Also RIP Cranky Pants/Sandblast games, you guys were a local Kirkland game studio here in Washington.)
Lol, naw. I get why you might think that boss but no. The Evil Dead Xbox game didn't invent the idea of someone experiencing some crazy horror scenario, not being believed, the getting committed to an asylum for it. Even the twist where evil shows up in person to the asylum isn't a new idea. But you're in the ball park. Both this and Dead Space 2 were riffing on the same genre tropes for inspiration. It's all Lovecraft in the end.
I loved this game. It was really good. I had it for the ps2. Note: evil dead 2 had to be a remake because of the previous people the distribute part 1 held the rights to the story, so sam had to rewrite the script for part 2 being part 1.
Matt please play more of this game! I loved playing this as a kid and I love seeing other people give this game some attention Fun fact: Sam is voiced by Raimi's brother Ted
DAMMIT MATHEW EVIL DEAD 2: DEAD BY DAWN IS NOT A REMAKE OF THE EVIL DEAD. The first like 20 minutes are a recap of the first movie, after that it's entirely a sequel. It's okay, it's okay, now you know, and I'm happy to help.
Also the game isn't ripping off RE4's cabin scene, it's RE4 either ripping off or paying tribute to the Evil Dead movies. The Evil Dead movies did it first.
Will you please play more of this? Usually on my system watching so i had to hop on the phone to leave this comment. But this is a game from the depths of my childhood and one of my favorites, so having you play this actually makes me happy.
THIS! This is the game I played as a kid at my friend's house! I've been trying to remember what game it was for years. I LOVED this game! Never got far though. I remembered the cabin scene with the evil objects, the half-zombie dwarf, the insane asylum, and especially the first boss the electric zombie. Fun times!
I remember getting this when I was younger thinking it was A Fist Full of Boomstick, which I had played a demo of sometime prior. Was disappointed that it was a different game, but that was remedied pretty quickly. Loved this game and it's probably one of my most played PS2 games
Oh man, I had so much fun with this game! I had a really hard time during the sniping segment, but the whole game is really strong and funny! It was so entertaining and true to the spirit of Evil Dead. In my heart, I consider it cannon. I think you should do a full Let's Play on this one, it's right up your alley. Just wait till you get the harpoon gun! That's where the real fun begins!
Thank you for shining some light on this masterpiece. Forgetting this game is one crime I could never forgive people for. And it isn't on Steam, which is tragic! Okay, that's me being a drama queen, but still.
Matt, you were thinking about Fist Full of Boomstick... I vividly remember that being in the center of town and having more of a Silent Hill vibes in places... this one did really well with keeping to the Evil Dead quirkiness
This game runs at 720p on OG Xbox. Also the sidekick is voiced by Ted Raimi, Sam Raimi's brother. The prequels to this game, Hail to the King (PSone, PC, and Dreamcast: decent game) and Fistful of Boomstick (PS2 and Xbox: bad game) are in their own canon. Regeneration for some reason takes place in a canon that doesn't include the events of Army of Darkness (nor the prior two games).
Awesome licence based VG for it's time! And I almost forgot about Ash-going-through-ass scene - Starz TV show morgue scene wasn't original after all... but still gruesome
The voice actress for Sally really sounded familiar, so I did some digging and she voiced Pandora in Kid Icarus Uprising and Juanita in Ratchet: Deadlocked.
As a big big fan of the Evil Dead franchise, this game was mah jam! I even liked the previous one, Fistful of Boomstick (definitely not as good though).

Matt play Total Overdose it's on the original xbox and ps2. It's gta + max payne in Mexico. It's cheesy and light hearted, quite funny at times! You can jump out of speeding cars while shooting in slow-mo and latino music playing in the background.
Remember playing this. I know there was another Evil Dead game that was a lot more serious and scared me as a child. Liked this one though, but remember it ended on a big cliffhanger
Your sidekick is voiced by Ted Raimi, Sam's brother.
@@guyshafor1320 Indeed, they are one and the same.
@@guyshafor1320 Joxer as in the guy from Xena: Warrior Princess?
@@josh-oo Yes.
@@Revan058 That's awesome.
Fun Fact: Bruce Campbell also voices 50 cent in 50 cent: blood in the sand.
Holy shit...
No. I dont believe it.
Lol
The models in this game are really well animated, especially Ash himself. It kind of reminds me of Timesplitters a bit.
I miss this period of time with games, the animations felt kind of fun and not so realistic.
Bruce was also in Pitfall 3D, CoD Advanced Warfare, Tome, The Amazing Spiderman, Cars 2, Hellboy Science of Evil, and The Ant Bully.

That could have been entertaining.

So, that first part of Dead Space 2 was a homage? To this? I'm actually very okay with that notion.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but what was the homage to? I’m familiar with Dead Space 2 and I don’t see the connection with this game.

Cheers Matt, I didn't know there was a good Evil Dead game
Right? The only game I knew that had Evil Dead in it was Poker Night at the Inventory 2
Fistful of Boomstick wasn't...not..good.

"Inner chin." I'm totally using this to tell people to suck it up
I will always stand by the fact that Marvel Zombies is just Ash Kills the Marvel Universe

Bruce Campbell just did voice over as Ash in the game Dead by Daylight!
Ash is in DbD?
Draconic Duelist yes! Also fun fact he’s the only character in the game with dialogue
@@LPPSGames Neat!
This was the best of the 3 evil dead game, imho.
This is shockingly competent looking. Good even.
It goes to show, there's always more good stuff out there that got overlooked.
Perfect time to play more of this game, dude! Loved this back in the day. I think about it quite often.
Also the game isn't ripping off RE4's cabin scene, it's RE4 either ripping off or paying tribute to the Evil Dead movies. The Evil Dead movies did it first.
I mean, the Necronomicon is just a Diablo art book before Diablo came out.
I actually loved Fistful of Boomstick on PS2. Finished it a rediculous amount of times when I was younger.
Same. It still is a personal favorite of mine, i really like some of the weapons and the gore
Can’t believe I missed this on the channel. Groovy! Thanks for the evil dead Mr. Skeleton. I can always use more.
Will you please play more of this? Usually on my system watching so i had to hop on the phone to leave this comment. But this is a game from the depths of my childhood and one of my favorites, so having you play this actually makes me happy.
That voice of his lawyer sounds like the cop from The Punisher game.
Bruce was also the lead character Jake Logan in an old PC space sim called Tachyon: The Fringe.

Bruce was also in the amazing spiderman game and also Dead by day light, he also confirmed a new evil dead game 😀
This actually looks tight as fuck, they really put a lot of work into this.
This game need a port for steam or GOG. I love it.
@Fake Account That's why said: Steam or GOG.

Yo Matt, in the tv show they show the evil is just a black smoke cloud chasing fuckers down lol but that elevator part was hilarious

I would watch you play this game till the end. Absolutely.
Oh man i used to play the shit out of this game!
Surprisingly good!
The TV show (Ash Vs Evil Dead) was like a caricature of Evil Dead... and it was f**kin awesome!
This game is up there in my top 5 best games, I sunk so many hours into it growing up
i think i remember seeing or hearing that Sam attached the cam to a 2x4 wit a rotating handle to achieve the most excellent shot,
Thank you for shining some light on this masterpiece. Forgetting this game is one crime I could never forgive people for. And it isn't on Steam, which is tragic! Okay, that's me being a drama queen, but still.
He played the lead in Tachyon:The Fringe, a rather good PC space shooter.
8:05 I am the stereotypical evil German scientist, Ya! XD
18:35 What's the Evil Queen's magic mirror doing here!
Bruce Campbell reprises his role as Ash in Dead By Daylight making him the first voiced survivor.
I still wish for a classic Ash skin, Army of Darkness was the shit.

this game has some flaws, but i still had alot of fun with it.
I fucking love the cutscenes in this game. The game itself is a lot of fun too.
"Hail to the king, baby!" has the same vibe as "Let's rock, baby!"
"Some guy"? Matt that was Don Coscarelli who made Bubba Ho-Tep! The same director as all the Phantasm movies.
Bruce was also Pitfall Harry in Pitfall 3D for the PS1.
You get to see the Sam rami camera monster in that evil dead show, sadly it’s just evil green electrified smoke.
Oh my god I thought I was the only one who knew about Broken Helix.
06:25 The Lady's voice sounds familiar because she is a dead ringer for Holly Hunter. (Although that's not her)
I always wanted to play this one. I only had Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick, that game was awesome.
Bruce Campbell was also Pitfall Harry for the ps1 Pitfall game
Not even gonna lie I would love a part 2 of this
Ash is the original Doom guy
I thought Spiderman was going to be the one giving the tutorial lessons.
Ash, along with Sheeva and Fujin were leaked to be coming with Kombat pack 2 for MK11
Such a awesome game I found this in a shop in my local area for a good deal so hard to find!
Bruce Campbell played a character in CoD Advanced Warfare zombies. Just another video game Bruce was in that you didn’t list.
Ash's "getting hit" groans are the high point of this game.
Fuck yes loved this game when I was a teen. Same for Fistful of Boomstick but this one was waay better. Would love to play it again.
There was a pitfall reboot on the first playstation that Bruce voiced
Weird, was just thinking about this game and you posted a video of it.
Bruce also voiced a sci fi spaceship game.
There was a PS1 game called Evil Dead, Hail to the King as well
I forgot how much fun these were
Not bad for a budget game! MSRP of 19.99 when it originally released. In fact all the Evil Dead games where budget titles.
Awesome licence based VG for it's time! And I almost forgot about Ash-going-through-ass scene - Starz TV show morgue scene wasn't original after all... but still gruesome

I even liked the previous one, Fistful of Boomstick (definitely not as good though).
In the real world, it was Sam Raimi on a bike slamming into Bruce
Looks like Cranky Pants also made Red Faction 2, Summoner: A Goddess Reborn, and Destroy All Humans.
The ports, most likely.
Is that the lady who played Ruby from the tv series.
He did the voice of Pitfall Harry in the Pitfall game on PS1
Ah nice, I still own and play this very game. Play mine on ye old PS2 though. Maybe next you could play Fistful of Boomstick sometime soon.

He is also now in Dead by Daylight.
Weird. My ps2 version doesn't have framerate issues. I wonder why your version had a hiccup.
Like I said, this is the Xbox version on a 360.
Matt McMuscles yeah I’d honestly think the 360 version would play better with higher end hardware. That’s why I find it a bit odd
Man I remember preordering this.
The Suffering 3: The Comedy
Ohhhhhh hells yea!! Hail to the King 👑 baby
looks fun as hell.
13:22 dying lmao
Cranky Pants used the Evil Dead money to kill the Destroy All Humans franchise with Path of The Furon
Dude, you totally need to make a Return of the King video. I played the hell out of that game. Probably the best movie tie-in I've ever played.
Ash has some Telltale Games facial expressions. lol
WHERE'S MA PORTS CRANKY PANTS!?!!
YO you should play the suffering! I mean later.. if really love more Evil Dead more xD
the show was pretty interesting because it had some entities that weren't just deadites
I think Bruce voiced the main character in pitfall 3d for the ps1.
Ash's VA reminds me a LOT of Pitfall Harry from the Pitfall reboot.
i loved this game
Matt play Total Overdose it's on the original xbox and ps2. It's gta + max payne in Mexico. It's cheesy and light hearted, quite funny at times! You can jump out of speeding cars while shooting in slow-mo and latino music playing in the background.
Yea, Total Overdose is a hidden gem for sure.
Never noticed (since I haven;t seen this game in over a decade), but this game's cutscene art looks like a Tell-Tale game...
Yea yea yea! Evil dead time baby!
Remember playing this. I know there was another Evil Dead game that was a lot more serious and scared me as a child. Liked this one though, but remember it ended on a big cliffhanger
Apparently Ash Vs evil get is getting a New game, via Bruce Campbells Twitter,
