    Very nice realization but i can give you a tip for the build on Solidworks. You should always add fillet and chamfer done last to avoid construction problems. Best regards

    Hi Conner, just printed the hinge and it came out great. Thank you for showing me the way to get this done.

    Thank you so much for the video. I used Freecad to make the part. It took some time but I finally figured it out. Well done and thank you for sharing.

    In the video you stated that you didn't think one could make a hinge with a rod through all of the lugs on the hinge. For the heck of it I tried it and it worked. It was a little stiff at first but quickly loosened up. It didn't work as smoothly as the way you designed your hinge but it was much easier to draw. Thank you again for the video.

    How did you have gaps at 22.07 in the section view. How did you make sure there was gaps after the combine function?

      I made two versions of the part with the lugs, one was larger than the actual part, the larger one was used to do the subtraction

      @@conorwalsh_net yeah it is pretty frustrating. I wasnt able to figure out how to substract parts because no one was showing how to add parts from other files. Every little detail matters.

    Spacing in linear pattern in hinge 2 should be 20mm not 19.80

    Have you done any strength testing on this hinge? I'm giving about buying a 3D printer to be able to create hinges and locks for some storage lockers, but I have no knowledge about how long it will last.

    • @conorwalsh_net
      @conorwalsh_net  5 років тому +1

      The hinges should be strong enough but I did this more as a proof of concept rather than for actual use. I'm not sure how long they will last under daily use. You might be better just buying metal hinges!
