Lizzie being a mother figure to Bea at the end was such a beautifully written scene and how Lizzie never tells a soul, it shows Bea needs true friends like her to stay on top
I dont know what it is but I can be so depressed and in a foul mood and I watch some episodes of this and I feel better. Just one of my pleasant memories from my college years. Like old friends!
Fantastic acting from Val and Sheila in that scene where Bea confessed to selling out the others for a private visit. We rarely get to see the vulnerable side of Bea and this was a beautiful scene.
@@michelleevans4948 agreed. But that makes a character so great. When they're not perfect. All humans are flawed. We do and say things others don't agree with or like. What I love about this scene is how brutally honest Bea was. She wasn't doing this for the others. She was doing it for herself because she wanted to be touched and desired.
John Oddy I think Meg said she hated what she done, not hate Chrissie, plus she understood her more, when Meg found out Chrissie Father sexually abused Chrissie when she was a child, Meg also saw the change in Chrissie, after she became pregnant with Elizabeth, Chrissie also helps Meg, in,later episodes, when Meg is attacked in Wentworth by Margo, Bev and Lil
Because it isnt the USA. Its Australia. Life sentence was usually 10 years. And lets remember this was in the 70s and 80s. Very much different to now. In the USA back then, a man could rape and kill, serve 5 years and be out, doing it again. Nowadays, if the complexion for the protection doesnt work, people are sentenced for decades in prison for non violent crimes. Guilty of murder, Life means Life. In Australia, I watch true crime shows from there, murderers life sentence means something like 20 years. And if its like a massacre or child abduction rape and murder, then a real Life term is given.
Everytime I watch a scene with Meg and Bob, I walk around the house afterwards saying "meg darling, bob darling" While I make coffee "meg darling, bob darling" Doing my dishes "meg darling, bob darling" Putting a load of my washing on "meg darling, bob darling" Omgggggaawwdd!!!!
Amazing how Bea takes credit for Ken talking to the press, as if she and him had it planned, just so she can get her mates talking to her again and being reinstated as top dog--"leadership" through deception.
Tristina143 I got 'ticked off' by another commenter on here recently for saying a similar comment; the commenter said, 'it's called forgiveness!' etc. I just said in response that I think it's mad- and I certainly wouldn't forgive my husband's murderer!
Lamp Shade It's crazy that they even put Chrissy in the same cell block as Meg. I really like Chrissy now but at first I did not. Meg sure is a sweet hearted lady but that's just ridiculous. She killed her husband and took away her sons father. If anybody's going to kill my husband its going to be me damn it! Lol just kidding but yeah it's really ridiculous.
I suppose being top dog has to have a few perks - it's not like Bea runs scams for personal profit like other would-be top dogs. I think she is just showing that she is fallible.
I hate the thought of bea being so lonely she craves someone to love her and just be there for her it's really sad 😔 that visit with Ken only lasted five minutes hardly worth the trouble it's causing between everyone... 🤔 🤣
+Heather Snodgrass too right - and what about gorgeous george the big time gangster she was "entertaining " - Vinegar tits only takes the moral high ground when it suits!
Heather Snodgrass Just like you ever so conveniently forgot that Vera had intentions to see Damian long term but she found out it was only a one night stand on Damian's part and she was appalled how people could have such morals.
I thought her whole cancelling the conjugal visits was shocking. She only did it because she wasn't allowed one with Ken. Felt really sorry for Chrissie. Bea was only put for herself on this one. The other women should've stood up to her this time.
Chrissy is more horriable than Doreen. Chrissy just looks prettier. Doreen's in prison for forgery and her escape. Chrissy is in for stabbing and murdering a Wentworth employee. Yea! Chrissy for top dog. Chrissy has done nothing but suck up to the screws and Davo. She didn't even show any remorse for murdering Meg's husband.
When Ken came out of the building and kissed Bea you can hear Bea's mind thinking " I'm gonna get me some now!" Until Debbie steps out and the sound of screeching brakes sound in Bea's thoughts then. 🥰🤩😔😖
Real people aren't black & white cardboard characters. Her character is well-written and played. As most characters are in this. Complex enough that the dull-witted members of this comment section change their opinion on someone like a weathercock in a hurricane.
Most people are selfish and out for themselves. Why would Bea, in prison, for murder be any different? Chrissie is the most selfish character in the show. Continues to expect favors from Meg.;after she killed Meg's husband. So un-realistic.
Well, Bea got totally owned in this episode. I knew she was bullcrapping about the article - she just jumped on it to get some heat off her with the women, and they're not the smartest bunch, so they fell for it. While Bea's story is a bit sad, it was nice to see her being brought down to size for a change, she can be quite the bully!
I love Chrissie Latham! She takes on Bea Smith because she can't stand her. She doesn't do it because she wants position - its just that she and Smith do not get on. She can't take Smith on physically but can cause trouble behind the scenes
Chrissie is a cold blooded killer! She killed Bill Jackson and it’s funny that she’s not serving any time for it! Hmmm 🤔 This was Meg Morris first husband and Marty’s Dad
Doreen had the exact same views as Bea she deserves the cold shoulder too. And what happened to big tough Doreen no top dog to hide behind so now she suddenly doesn't want to fight lol.
Everyone giving Bea a hard time in the comments. I think its great writing for the character. No one is perfect and even the top suck should have weaknesses and flaws. Again great piece of drama writing. It makes Bea more likable in my opinion, especially when she fronts up to future villians.

Bea allowed her feelings for Ken to cloud her judgment, and therefore she really did ask for that detrimental article to be written and can have no complaints. Chrissie should marry Mick, after all, he is Elizabeth's father and it would give her a realistic chance of gaining full custody much quicker than going it alone. Having looked after her inside for a whole year, though, I think its pretty obvious that Chrissie could and would take good care of Elizabeth if given the opportunity. Assuming she gets her parole, they are not being very fair about it by making her wait for full custody like that, after all, she has had enough of waiting since the child turned one and was cruelly taken away from her.

Bea should just leave them to their own resources from now on and bow out of everything-let them tear up their own! Then see how she benefited. She only does things to benefit the women and see that they are all treated fairly!
I used to think that til I watched PCBH over and over for the last 6 years. It's just been in recent times that I've really noticed that Bea for the most part is a very selfish bully. At times she cares for the women yes but most of what she does is for number one and what would be beneficial to herself. People need to re watch the episodes and take notice. Bea Smith is the worst Top Dog alongside Franky Doyle and this is coming from someone that likes the Bea Smith character.

Prison reform was just coming into Vogue . ironically, at the same time, victims rights was also a big issue. Perhaps motivated by the prison reform movement. Great job by Val at the end. Interesting dichotomy: all men are bastards, but then Bea saying about how she wants to be held by a man again and not dry up
4 years old, are you for real? Your comment was written 7 years ago. It is now 2024 so that would mean you wrote this in 2017. Subtract 4/years from that and we have 2013. As the other one who posted their comment and can also be seen in the credits, this episode is from 1981 which would have made it 36 years old. Where did you get 4 from?
Oh, fuck me, so Davidson is just going to let them braw without repercussions? Let the women sort it out among themselves, sure. How long until someone ends up with their skull caved in? How does this woman keep her job, seriously?
**Spoiler Alert** Chrissie has got to be one of the most selfish inmates in the entire series, always out for herself at every every step. As for Hazel, it's funny how she criticises Bea for being top tog one minute but runs to her for protection from Nola in the future... It's a shame it wasn't her head in the sink in the shower block instead of Paddy .
Vera is portrayed as narrow minded and wrong in her attitudes to everything, but in essence she's usually 100% right! The women DO abuse every privilege they're given and these schemes ALWAYS lead to trouble! Not one of these harebrained do-good schemes of Davo's, Meg's or whatever social worker or teacher is working there ever work out. Not a single one. Whether it's lessons, conjugal visits, putting on pantos, outside work schemes or running a newspaper, it always leads to trouble and abuse and turns out Vera was 100% correct in her objections and predictions.
A lot of them are losers, true. But remember Mum, Lynette, and Karen? They got out and turned their lives around. They aren't all "animals", like Vera says.
I always thought Diana (Dina) and Tracy were sisters- but that’s from a long time ago. They looked a little alike. Colette doesn’t appear to be related to either of them.
Lizzie being a mother figure to Bea at the end was such a beautifully written scene and how Lizzie never tells a soul, it shows Bea needs true friends like her to stay on top

TY. They look alot alike :)
Latham is too thick to keep on the straight on narrow for 2 minutes. Easily tipped by Vera's stirring.
i love that song, it's so awesome, but not as awesome as David Andrews ;)
Meg is such a do gooder. From all the episodes I have watched. Everything happens to her. She is just irritatingly a do gooder.
Not a very nice comment to make about someone. Besides, Skeletor is from He-man, not Thundercats.
Bea is bluffmaster general?
I think Ken's daughter plays in a later ep
TY WHAT THE ACTRESS PLAYS GEORGIE BAXTER TRACEY MANN IS SHE COLETTE MANN SISTER TOO
Colette and Dina were born in 1950. Not sisters. I can't find any evidence Tracy is either of their sisters. Mann is a common surname.
I always thought Diana (Dina) and Tracy were sisters- but that’s from a long time ago. They looked a little alike. Colette doesn’t appear to be related to either of them.
