@PorchligtLegal Family law attorney here, and I absolutely love this. I’m saving it in my back pocket for all of my clients who could use this peptalk, even those with contested divorces because it contains a lot of great non-legal tips about how to think about moving on.
Thanks! Keeping conflict down, even in contested cases, makes the whole process much less stressful.
Thank you! This showed up just as I was going to hit the submit button! Very appreciated notes to keep in mind and stay on the “high road.”
We're glad you found it helpful!
You are such a great communicator. Thank you 😊
Glad the video was helpful!
Hi atty, i would like to ask is the FL180 form is the final form of document for the divorce? thankyou!
Our practice is limited to Georgia. We can't provide information on the divorce process in other states. Best of luck with your case.
Thank you for information!!!!
Glad you like it!
The no dating part also includes couples who are married but haven’t seen each other for over 10 years and made their lives on separate states, different friend circles, etc? Basically they are strangers to each other. No kids from that couple but kids outside perhaps. Nothing shared financially. No house, no car, no savings.
It's generally best for people to complete the divorce process before they start dating. It's also generally best to finalize the divorce before spouses have been separated for many years and become total strangers--marriage still ties people together legally. That being said, there may be reasons that neither of these things make sense for your case. You should consult with an attorney if you have any concerns
If a spouse is a victim of domestic violence are there special documents that should be filed or should it be mentioned in the complaint for divorce?
@Elezabirth Cotter This woman put a gun to my face and threatened to kill me after I caught her cheating AGAIN..lol…The only way Dr. Williams can help me is if he can finalize divorces🤨🤨
@Elezabirth Cotter I wonder if a man is given the same benefit of the doubt when he is abusive towards a woman. “She must of done something to cause him to be abusive.” I just wanted to see if it’s likely a man would receive damages for defamation and trauma. But I guess the answer is not likely. There is no way I would ever give anyone a 2nd opportunity to kill me.
It's not contested but I have to get him served.
The court requires legally sufficient service in all cases. In uncontested cases, the Respondent signs an Acknowledgment of Service rather than being served by the sheriff or a process server.
If there’s no child and property in uncontested divorce, does a financial statement form is required.
Most counties require a Domestic Relations Financial Affidavit (DRFA) to be filed as part of an uncontested divorce, even if there are no kids or property. The requirement is not always enforced, particularly if at least one of the parties has an attorney.
@@porchlightlegal5253if my county doesn’t have one posted, that would mean that I won’t need one. Correct?
Nice dimples.
She will not like it but it's not going to go well she signed off on the house back in 2013 and is now trying to get it. She has stole from me for 43 years and I am not backing down. She closed my daughters saving account that I open for her. She cheated and was even pimped out by her true love that couldn't stand her but couldn't give up the money. I have it all on Video and she's the one that told me to get the camera because she had more to tell me. The only reason I didn't kick her out was because I think she is as crazy as the rest of her family and I couldn't do it because I have a soft heart but she once again blind sided me and I told her it's all coming out I am not holding back anything. Am I wrong? I am disabled and have nothing thanks to her. She walked out and I am now living on 130 a month for food and paying all the bills here.
Remember the only winners in a divorce are the lawyers and ex wives. How’s the divorce going?
I'm in a process of thinking a quick uncontested divorce, very similar to yours but I'm just going to give all but after watching this video and read yours, I'm thinking is best for now is to just leave and cannot be contacted. I'm not planning on a remarry in the future. I FEEL YOU AND HOPE YOU HAVE RESOLVED YOUR ISSUES WITHOUT FOLLOWED DRAMAS. IF YOU CAN'T WIN, RUN BRO. ALMOST EQUAL HURT BUT WITHOUT BURNING YOUR $$$$ AND NO JACKS B... CAN DO SHITS, GONE WITH THE WIND..........................................................................................
Can you have an uncontested divorce when having a child?
In Georgia, an uncontested divorce means you agree on all terms of the divorce. This includes custody and child support if there are children
How to prove a husband abused you emotionally and psychologically as well?
Each party has the opportunity to testify and present evidence at trial. But going to trial is expensive and takes a long time. You might be better off negotiating a settlement with your spouse. Given the power dynamics that can occur in abusive situations, you should talk to your attorney about the best strategy for your case.
Psychological verbal abuse is hard to prove.
@@valnpaulvanordenI keep a diary on my phone at the more horrific events.
