  • Captured here is one of the newest types of Volvo patrol cars used by the Swedish police in Stockholm! It is a Volvo V90 Cross Country with all-wheel-drive. This awesome car comes with an updated blue-light package and the classic Swedish two-tone and yelp siren. In this video the police appeared to be responding to Kronoberg remand prison in Kungsholmen (central Stockholm) to pick up a prisoner who had to be taken to hospital. The same police unit is seen escorting an emergency ambulance minutes later.
    What do you think of this new police car? Let me know in the comments! :)

      @Joel Davidsson Now. I got kinda mad, what if you had live in Stockholm? Gothenburg is maybe a big city also. But, Stockholm is our capital city and we don't have space to build factories. But, Gothenburg has space. Stockholm is very big, and we don't have space for a BIG, BIG, Volvo factory. And, when you said "VOLVO IS OUR CAR" No, not really. They're maybe built there. But a lot of people in Sweden have a Volvo, mostly V90. Don't come with dumb comments to Stockholm or other states in Sweden. Gothenburg just has space for a Volvo factory. Just take a look at Stockholm.. very big, right? Gothenburg has space tho. So, don't come with comments to Stockholm or other states in Sweden OR OTHER COUNTRIES!

    Out of curiosity, is there a reason blue is the most common color for police cars around the world? Is it more visible?

    • @carpetclimber4027
      @carpetclimber4027 4 роки тому

      @SmileyHobo Yes, I think they've done research on it and it has shown that blue lights are optimal in both dark and bright conditions.

    • @kakburk6253
      @kakburk6253 4 роки тому +1

      @@carpetclimber4027 It seems to be incorrect. The red is more visible at long distances. During ww2, blue was picked as it was less visible from a high altitude for more protection against bombers. It's weird blue is still favoured for emergency vehicles.

    • @thaelon5514
      @thaelon5514 4 роки тому

      @@kakburk6253 What a strange comparison. I'm certain there has never been a situation where someone couldn't see the blue lights flashing and that they would if they were red. I've seen those blue lights from reaaaally far away. Remember they didn't have LED lights during ww2 so don't think it matters at that point.

    • @maartineriksson
      @maartineriksson 2 роки тому +2

      @@kakburk6253 Red light has about 50% longer wave length which might explain the better long range visibility. Blue creates a good contrast during the day though, as well as sharp light during the night, and won't ever be confused with red lights at intersections.

    Sweden is one of the few European countries that outfits their emergency vehicles like Americans do - way too many lights XD
    Like... I appreciate that the lightbar is half-half but it's a confusing pattern, and there are more perimeter lights than necessary.
    The general rule: An average joe should be able to understand a car's light setup.

    • @finnk1289
      @finnk1289 4 роки тому

      @Alexander Damberg A light pattern where the lights flash in sync provides a better sense of direction, creates greater contrast, and makes the flashing of other lights (such as turn signals) more clear.
      2-4 lights on the bumpers helps with 45-90 deg visibility in a tight intersection, but beyond that the lightbar is almost always visible.
      More lights makes turn signals harder to see, and at night too many lights is a blinding nuisance.
