    If anyone has concerns about the switches in comparison to other leverless options, the board is hot swap and the requirement is low profile optical switches like the ones razer has as default. Youre limited but you wont have razer as your only option. Keychron has low profile optical switches that people have used in razer's other hotswap optical keyboards.

    Seeing the difference of buttons was very interesting. I've been skeptical towards the mechanical keyboard switches in most leverless controllers. I really appreciate the feeling of hammering on a Sanwa button and Kitsune seems to be an option that is close to this.
    Gonna rant about my leverless buying journey.
    I was sure the Kitsune was going to be my first leverless controller. But once it became available the price was a hard pill to swallow ($400 in Sweden!) and the non PS4 support just made it a non-starter for me. Most of our locals are still on PS4 with a select PS5 machines. Though it really sucks with my current ps4 only stick to go to locals and have to fiddle with converters.
    The big selling point of the Kitsune for me is the fact that I could walk into a regular store buy it. if I have any technical issues I can then make that a problem for the store to solve. I can expect it to just work. With the other controllers I am importing them from a different country and you can bet your ass I will need to manually patch that board firmware at some point or go trough the hassle of shipping the product if I get any issues.
    I feel Razer messed up on the price . They had an opportunity to become the default choice for all first time leverless controller buyers if they pushed the prices further. They are competing with like 2 guys in an apartment buying generic keyboard switches and drop shipping small batches of cases on a monthly basis. Razer has supply lines and can invest in setting up production processes. With an initial investment they can create a product that is superior both in price and quality. Instead they settled at making a product comparable to what we currently we have.
    I just want a hassle-free choice I can actually use at home, in tournaments and at locals for a reasonable price :/
    I've bit the bullet now and bought a Squidbox so I can easily play Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 in locals and bring while travelling. I really hope I will not hate how the buttons feels compared to Sanwa buttons. If I don't then I hope I can at least tolerate it because it portable. Otherwise I might look at a Kitsune or a Victrix.

      I agree entirely in regards to Razer pricing this too high. I think it is absolutely the fact that they know their competition and are trying to price them out. That said, slow production for Snackbox and M-press (the two controllers I was considering alternately to the Kitsune) really hurts them. I would gladly support the smaller companies for the cheaper controllers, but I've been watching both for months and they just aren't available to buy unless I want to get them through e-bay or etsy, which isn't even directly supporting them anyway.

    For anyone in the market for a leverless right now and coming a bit late to this video, there are newer options out there that blow stuff like the Kitsune, MPress, SnackBox, etc. out of the water value-wise, stuff like the Haute42 controllers or the keybox. You can get a Haute42 for like _40-60 bucks,_ and it has damn near every feature that these "premium" controllers have (and even some that they don't such as _multiple_ SOCD options). Only thing is PS4/PS5 functionality, but with such a low price you can easily afford a brooks dongle. Hell, even Mayflash is coming out with a leverless this spring, maybe wait on that.
    Let's be real here, leverless controllers, specifically the small/slim ones, are essentially a modified keyboard with way fewer keys. 250+ for that is insanity. I hope that these smaller, newer brands can regulate the market, because there's no way an MPress should be costing 250+ euros, I'm sorry. There are custom builders making full-size, wooden hitboxes with brooks and sanwa parts for 200-250€, a Kitsune for 300 is a giant middle finger.

I think the snackbox is better. Also theres no way to change the sodc cleaning on the razer. Its stuck to the tournament standard settings for sf6, so if you switch to another fighting game you will be stuck with that as well on there even though its not a capcom game. But yeah, this thing has good palm rest/wrist space, plays PS5, some subtle edge lighting, bigger buttons (than equivalent Micro stuff), and optical switches. Issues are one-note SOCD cleaning, weak wraps, $300, and no PS4 compatibility. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the optical switches after a couple weeks of practice. It doesn't always pay off but as he shows you the thinless is insane. Same goes for their laptops. They have crazy powerful GPU laptops with their Razer Blade line and they are without a doubt the most THIN for a gaming laptop too. I have only seen one or two brands of optical buttons in the past and havent used those myself. My oldest retail stick with an optical lever is one for the Dreamcast. I am not sure if it is cost that makes optical parts less common, but I dont often hear of them being very sought by the average FG player either. It's true that it would be nice if it were more customizable but this one really feels like it's thought through the implications of being a different device instead of just being a half-assed conversion of an arcade stick. @buttersthecat7857 thanks! Am considering ordering the purple one and replacing with other sanwa buttons for nicer colors - I don't mind the price, more looking for the most durable between the 2 since the kitsune looks rather thin and I'm used to Razer Panthera (non Evo).

      The fs-12 is nice but it is much bigger so just depends what your use case is. I have a snackbox micro and fs-12 and the latter tends to stay home for me since I bring a levered arcade controller with me as well. I also did not like the way the 24mm sanwas felt for the directional buttons on the fs-12, so I swapped those out but that incurred extra cost. I used the kitsune at EVO and liked it enough to preordee an SF6 model. It will likely replace my snackbox for a travel leverless, and I like the kitsune stock buttons wayyyyy more than the stock sanwas on the fs-12.

    Honestly, as a casual I am baffled that none of these arcade sticks and leverless controllers have Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz wireless, and that Razer opted to not include one. I know it's a product intended for a more "hardcore" audience, even though the vast majority of people who buy these controllers statistically will never even enter a tournament or go to a local, otherwise all of these stick makers are competing for like, what, only 3000 people in the entire world in the market for buying a stick/leverless AND go to tournaments, and once they buy one they keep it for like 5 years...??
    I get that people don't want input delay or interference with the signal, but giving us the choice won't hurt anyone. There is literally no video game controller released in the last like 10 years over $50 that doesn't have Bluetooth or wireless functionality. Even "hardcore" custom controllers for fps games like Battle Beaver or Scuf that cost hundreds of dollars still leave in the Bluetooth module. You have so much space inside such a wide controller, it's unimaginable to me that no one thought of putting one in.

    The other big caveat for this is the proprietary parts. When one of the buttons inevitably fails, its gonna be really expensive to replace it.
    I hope this gets pointed out when people purchase this. My main complaint with every single hitbox controller remains the same, I know it's the superior controller in terms of speed, but I cannot stand how damn close the buttons are to each other, and I mean the my hands are literally touching each other while I play with a hitbox, I know it a niche complaint, but it drives me insane that the buttons aren't properly space from each other, like for example, I think the sweetspot for space would be the type of space you have inherently in a keyboard when you're typing, you always have space for each hand and each hand has its own space to work with, I want that for a hitbox controller, if it wasn't for that, I would defenetly buy one just to learn and play stuff, but every single one I see is exactly the same, and I had not see one with enough space in between, I would build one, but it would be more effort and I don't really have execution problems.

    • @JELIFISH19
      @JELIFISH19 Рік тому

      The reason the directions and attacks are so close is so you can use your right thumb to jump. That makes certain techniques much easier.

    • @ZeroillusionX
      @ZeroillusionX Рік тому

      @@JELIFISH19 Nah bro, the point of the hitbox is speed, now if you told me that there where certain up up inputs I would totally agree with you on that since you could up with your left and right hand for a piano input without letting go of your main directions, and so far that has never being an input in a game to my knowledge, even as a movement option y doesn't really require that level of necessity.

    • @JELIFISH19
      @JELIFISH19 Рік тому +1

      @@ZeroillusionX it's not just speed but also precision. There are plenty of motions that are way more difficult to do with one hand. Jumping with your right hand makes a lot of instant air moves much easier. It's really hard to press the up for just 1-2 frames with your left hand because you also have to release the up button up to do the motion. So going from up to down is much easier and faster if you use your right hand for up. The same is true for going down to up for super jumps especially if you're already holding a direction. Using your right hand to jump is also much more precise for jump cancelled moves. You can press up and the button at the same time very consistently.

    • @ZeroillusionX
      @ZeroillusionX Рік тому

      @@JELIFISH19 that's actually scientifically not true, while I understand what you mean in terms of theory in practice is completely untrue, because it has to do with how the brain works, your brain is wired in a way that you are naturally faster on inputs with one hand, instant air moves or tiger knee inputs are not easier by doing that, it's actually much harder because what you're doing is put stress in your brain to follow a set timing, that timing is not taken into account when using a hand, you're confusing this with stick theory, if we where talking about using 2 sticks to input up and down, then yes, because that is something that has being tested throughly.
      The issue here is button presses, you have 4 buttons for directions and usually 8 for attacks, the thumb is usually the slowest moving finger in terms of reactions relative to the others, if you add this other layer of downtime you're making it harder for yourself not the other way around, you can press buttons faster and far more precise with 1 hand because one hand is already wired to have a rithm build into it because of how our brains works.
      Now, im saying that what you state is factually wrong, but, just because it's wrong it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, if you like doing your inputs like that, nothing is stoping you and if you like playing like that, you should absolutely play how you like and nobody should stop you, my whole argument is that to me the buttons being too close is insanely bothersome and I had not find a hitbox on a reasonable price that have enough space for me, and again, I sadly cannot afford a custom made one since it would means spending money that I can spend in something else.

    • @JELIFISH19
      @JELIFISH19 Рік тому

      @@ZeroillusionX your thumb may be the slowest finger but you have your whole hand. And you have 2 two hands. You don't just rely on your fingers when playing on stick or hitbox. It's not like a keyboard. Separating the work between two hands is way faster when you only have a few frames to hit 4 buttons.
