This is a fantastic video!!! Thanks so much for this.
Looking at IPP here soon. Have St. Croix/Black Head Dorper cross sheep. Wanting to add pigs to our farm but do not want a large breed of pig.
Was looking at KUNE KUNE but seeing that it was going to take 14-18mos for maturity for market weight was a turn off.
I am limited on acreage on our small farm (3 acres) these IPPs seem like the perfect breed for us to use. Also they fact that they graze would help as well. As we have a barter with neighboring farms, lamb meat for grazing allowances. Meaning that I could turn the IPPs out to pasture with my sheep on my neighbors land...
I subbed, and looking forward to morning vids in the future with your IPPs.
Awesome dude! Thanks for sharing. Thinking strongly of starting with IPP in the fall. New sub! ill be following along!
What a bunch of nonsense. No pig has been bred to have a turned up nose for the purpose of grazing.
All pigs will graze if given the opportunity to do so. I have raised Yorkshire, Chester White, Duroc, Berkshire, Hampshire, Tamworth and Poland China. They all grazed on the green pasture I planted for them.
These small greasy pigs that are being introduced to people as the best tasting pork are not on the same playing field as Duroc and certainly not Berkshire.
This "greasy" pig gives more lard. That's a great thing.
2ndly, some breeds eat more grass in proportion to grain and this is one of them.
Don't take it personal and especially don't make it personal .
