I learned how to do this last year and have loved it. I learned a couple new things from you like how to decrease the size of a pdf to get the full page. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks for this tip! Because students can be accident prone with text boxes, I made a video on how students can copy & paste an existing text box or recreate one from the toolbar. So if they say they couldn't do the worksheet because they accidentally deleted the boxes, they know how to fix it to get a grade for the work. Of course, the video instructions don't help if the students accidentally delete their copy of the entire worksheet! 😁
After getting home everything showed up as it did in you video. I was checking with other teachers at my school it might be due to an older version of Google Slides available through the school’s server. Thank you so much for the great video!! I hope you have a great year in-spite of this Pandemic!!👍🏻
This is very cool! But I am just wondering why go to all this trouble, when students could just open the PDF you posted with KAMI or another similar doc editor??
Yubis L. I’m going to continue my series on how to use google classroom throughout the school year. In the meantime, check out my tutorial on how to set up your google classroom!
Thanks. This is very helpful. The thought did cross my mind about students moving the text boxes around. They love to investigate...which can be good. Subscribed!
Thanks so much for your response. I think I wasn't clear enough...I want however much the students type to stay in the graphic organizer's box. As it is now, when I put a single table box into my form, they can write as much as they want, but if they write more than the edges allow of the graphic organizer's box, they will be writing into the box below. There are PDF fillable programs, but I can't find one that is free AND works with MACs AND doesn't force the students to download a program. I was hoping you knew of a way in google docs to allow the writing to scroll down within the box. Hurumph!!! I so appreciate your generosity!! In unity!
Glad to hear that! I find the master is only helpful if I want the same background on multiple slides. If i'm only going to use it once, then it's not worth the trouble.
Thank you so much for this!! I had good luck except when I got to the point where I had to choose “students can view file”, “students can edit file” but there was no “make a copy for each student”. Any chance you might know why? Does it need updating or something else?
@@EZEdTech I am teaching strictly online since last March. Almost all my activities so far have been pencil and paper. My students' parents print the worksheets when I email them or the students complete them on plain paper. At their age (grade 2) I feel the paper and pencil tasks keep their fine motor skills and ability to write developing so when they return next year, they will more easily transition to in class learning and will not be, in their ability to write, behind those who opted for in school learning. Also, it allows for frequent screen breaks. I love the video though. It explains things very clearly. Presenting worksheets this way is interesting and will probably be easier for me. It will allow my students to work more directly in Teams' Assignments. I will still do most of them so my students work off-screen but I will try some of these. Thanks.
AWESOME!!! You rock!!! Now do I need to make a copy when I upload this to Schoology? It takes me nearly 10 minutes to create one worksheet for student use but once it’s done, it’s DONE. THANK YOU FOR CREATING THIS TUTORIAL.
It is my pleasure! Unfortunately, we don’t use schoology at my school so I don’t have access to it. I can’t answer your question. I hope someone else can! Thanks so much!
Thanks a lot. I follow you from Puerto Rico. Here in the Department of Eeication we have to use Teams . I was worry because I'm a prekinder teacher and the most of my worksheet are in PDF.
This was very helpful!! I’ll be using it for my Firsties for sure!! Is there a way for teachers to make a student account to show students how to use Google Classroom?
This is so helpful. I had so many issues with students moving around the text boxes in the "worksheets" I created on Google Slides. I can't wait to try this! I do have one question. I notice that many tutorial videos have people duplicate something rather than copy and paste. I am wondering why do this? Is it because there is one less step or is there another benefit to "duplicating"?
Claudia Escobar Okay, here’s what I’ve done: make as many slides as number of students, assign say, slide 1 to student A (You can also make a box for them to write their name). Then, click on share (make sure it’s editable on options) copy the link and share through Zoom chat (or any chat, actually) or email it to them. Hope this helps. 😉
I tried to upload google slides just now and the option to submit disappears. From a student perspective the title of the assignment and the description are there, but the slides arent available to view. Would really love to know how that could be addressed
Hi dear, can I do this with Word instead? Will my student be able to drag the screenshot if they open the file from Word also? Because I notice that there is no insert background in Word. TIA.
How do you organize you Google Classroom? I saw “This Week” and “Past Due”. Do items automatically move to the different category once they are past due?
Unfortunately, no. I wish they did! I have the topics: "This Week's Work", "Past Due", "Teacher Material", and "Archived". I edit the assignment and change the topic when I want to move it.
Does adding these table boxes make an issue in terms of accessibility? I know with tables you have to have a header row designated. Or are you not making these fully ADA compliant?
i create my worksheets for the group of students that I have. If I had a student with a visual impairment that required a screen reader, I wouldn't use tables. As the mother of a child with a visual impairment, I understand how important accessibility is.
Thanks so much, Gin. I teach 2nd grade so while I don't use Google Classroom for my littles, I enjoy using your tips to create presentations. I have the Extensive Fonts extension and enjoy using the many options, but I have a few more fonts downloaded on my computer. Is there any way I can import my downloaded fonts into Google Slides?
@@EZEdTech Well, thank you for the reply. My middle school team is not having much luck with making PDFs digital worksheets in class notebook. I’ll keep trying!
Love this! I am wondering if you know of a way to make the text boxes expandable? I am having the students fill out a graphic organizer and I don't know much space they will need, so I want the text boxes to expand to accommodate how much room each student needs. Thank you so much for your cyber wizardry!! :)
I always have to convert my pdf into a jpeg before I can make it the background on a google slide. Is there something you did in order to insert pdfs onto a slide without having to convert it?
I still can't seem to find a way to use the snipping tool without it turning the text in my document blurry. I've tried googling how to change the resolution on snipping tool but I can't seem to find a definite answer.

I LOVE how you took us through the whole process, even showing what it looks like from the student's viewpoint! That is so helpful!😊💕
I'm so glad!
So very helpful and the content was demonstrated well. The instructions both visual and auditory were very clear and easy to follow.
Detailed and explicit demo! Just what I needed. Thanks!

There’s websites that can convert pdf to images. That process can get you a better picture quality than a screenshot. I usually use Acrobat DC.
