lol
hilarious hahah
🤣
Now I’m a full wind turbine.
I'm a full blown tornado
I’ve had Neo since it came out. For someone like me who has little experience with editing, it’s very easy. I’m amazed every time I use it.
This is amazing! I love taking photos. I have since I was a little kid. I ended up buying a decent camera so I can take pictures as a hobby. However, after trying to edit photos with Lightroom and Photoshop. I got turned off and was really upset with myself because I just can't edit photos. I haven't taken pictures in so long because I hate the idea of trying to edit them. So this could be a GREAT option for me to try and get back in the swing of things.
Thanks Peter for such great tips and tricks for photography!!! They sure help.
I passed this video over at first but Glad I came back it and watched it in full.. Yes Peter, This app is Perfect for the hobbiest! Nice job..👍👍💙💙
Mikey
love the way you explain complex concepts!
Loved these new lights/colors.
Great demo of how to use Neo. I have it already and I love it. Thanks for sharing.
I bought Luminar Neo after his last video about it and I was excited to use it but j hate to say that I was very disappointed. The software is very slow running and it doesn’t work well on most photos because it’s hard to do very specific edits. I still use it on a couple of photos but only as a plug-in for Lightroom.
I was surprised at the cost when he said it wasn't for professionals.
I get excited thinking these things have moved on, then I remember my experiences like you of downloading, loading some photos up and it just not working properly at all.
It’s also very disappointing that they still do not have one of the features that is their biggest selling point on their ads. Background replacement. The ads boast about it and how easy it is to use bust still have not introduced it and still using ads promoting it.
same here. it's just too slowly..
@@XCatchAFire420X I use the older version of luminar ai, honestly I have no issues with background replacement. Its big problem is it hasn’t layerings, but for the most of cases it’s enough for me
Never cease to keep me entertained, educated, and inspired. A true fan of your videos Pete!

My mans! Always a pleasure seeing a new PM video!
When lightroom first introduced sky as an AI mask/object in lightroom I tried it for a shot or two since I shoot a lot of sunset/sunrise where the sky is extremely bright and you almost always need to shoot bracket or HDR modes. But they weren't really good. I've since came to the conclusion that getting it right in camera is still much more important than software corrections you can have at this stage. I'm always inspired by the famous saying that photography is about making selections. You can't have, or capture everything you see in front of you. And the art evolves around you making a choice of including this or throw away that. We get serious about our craft, investing big bucks on lenses and hardware to allow us create with maximum quality. If you cheap it out and fell prey to laziness, it makes you no different to those with a phone merely point at things and touching.
Strong opinion 😂
Doing everything the right way is great. But sometimes you didn't have the time or the experience. In both cases is a simple and relative fast solution better than leaving it as it is just because the circumstances weren't perfect. And shouldn't you use your resources reasonable even when your goal it is to create "art"?
I think this fits the saying "work smarter, not harder".
@@My123Tutorials That is no strong opinion. It is a blood basics that you get the RAW file right in camera before you go nuts about who has the best skills in lightroom/photoshop/etc. If you take that as opinion, I'm afraid photography isn't for you. No time, no experiecen, circumstances aren't perferct, are not problems related to my "opinion". They're a constant to any photograher and part of common struggle. And only through working your way around that struggle you develop your own style, your own touch. That there is the very own art of yours, which you literally just mocked upon, that you've been doing all this way along. What a shame.
There is no such thing as "simple and fast" solution at this stage unless your camera sensor can do 30 plus stop of dynamic range, or your lens has an aperture of F0.1. As I already tested, lightroom/photoshop sky mask will not 100% always give the best result. You'd have much higher chance rather doing it right in camera at first than rely on those apps later. "No time, no experiecen, circumstances aren't perferct" are mere excuses that you being a typical human just chose the lazy easy way out than do your best. If the sky is overcast and dull, try to shoot something else and come back another day. Don't cheap it out with AI replacements. That is not photography. nor any "resource" available or "smart" act in this field.
@@jamesjin8839 Bold of you to assume though that a person pointing at things with a phone camera and touching isn't serious.
Nah, I can make edits that are the same if not better than in camera shots. I would bet you 5k that I could edit my skies better than you can capture them.
Nah, you don't need the best gear, just a good eye and good light.
I already have Luminar Neo and am LOVING IT!
I bought it after watching this video. I primarily use Affinity and have had great results with Affinity, however this application gives me the ability to help teach my kids about photo editing due to the relative ease of how it works. My kids went from, "Dang, dad is gonna be in his office for hours editing photos," to, "Dad's gonna let me click stuff and help." Total game changer for those that can't dedicate hours and hours toward processing projects.
I’m a beginner and I’ve just got it myself and i enjoy it!
P.S. Always do whatever is in your power to not piss off pregnant women. It'll be in your best interest.
Aww sheeeesh two of my favorite guys just uploaded today! Here we go!

LOG is super easy to work with. Shoot in log, then download the Canon/Sony/Nikon log to Rec.709 LUT (Look up table), apply the LUT in your video editor, and it will convert the log footage to a normalized image.
And now that I read what I wrote I see that working with LOG is not simple at all haha.
Thank you always looking for editing tips. Please do more. Quick question. What a good lens for outdoor Portrait/family photos? Starting small.. thank you for your time.
Wow wow I have to do some videos for Luminar Neo and I have done a couple but you make it sound good 👍
I am learning photoshop and damn a lot goes into it!! I am glad I am learning how to use it rather than a one click ! Although easy / quick edit options also can speed up your production time which can be good also .. I didn't realise how much can be done in editing but also I thought and was way off floating objects ! Would luminar be good for editing product photography the masking looks easier and a lot faster than using selection tools !
Awesome! Thanks for pointing out this software 👍
Loving seeing more photography vids!!!
I love this but I wasn't expecting it ❤❤
This is so cool, saves so much time
What! I need this as a hobbyist, LR is time consuming and a little difficult. Thanks Peter and to think I was never going to follow you 🤣🤣🤣 seriously I wasn't but I came around😁
I actually already got this software a few months ago, and I love it! You're right. it's perfect for hobbyists like me!
did you simply get Luminar Neo, or did you get the X Membership also? (wouldn't mind getting it, just not sure which is best) tia
dude that omega seamaster is so sharp. wowza. love the vintage color.
NO TIME TO DIE edition is soooo distracting I cant barely focus on the content!!! its so mesmerizing
been using luminar since luminar3 :) really helped me with the editing especially the Neo now :)
wow, i dont know how :) but thanks though
Camera raw in LT and Photoshop 2022 does have masking subject feature as well.
Big shout out to the team at Skylum who are from the Ukraine and continue to make this fantastic software even with everything that's going on there, much respect 🇺🇦
Always good to watch you Pete....
Wow. I didn’t see this in my email account until a few days ago! I have replied to Pete via his Telegram account mentioned above. I hope I’m not to late. Regards Gary
I love how he is explaining terms too to make us feel pesents
Wait, there's more, I'm so excited 😃 🤣🤣🤣 I just can't hide it 👍😆

It might not good to you but it looks good to someone else...
It looks amazing thanks Peter
Peter ! Technology is the distruction of the world and the real art.
Am still in love with Lightroom...
Great vid as usual.
Love the Luminar and Lightroom affiliate links... But super cool software. And props to you for promoting multiple software options.
ouuu la la LE Omega Seamaster I see! Very cool watch choice Pete! ;)
Looks like it may be the 007

I love Skylum products from the Luminar lineup. There are two issues though: 1. They are quite slow on my MacBook Pro. 2. Every year they release a new version that barely has a few extra features and ask you for more money (sure, you have a discount as an existing user, but this kinda becomes a yearly subscription model if you want all their new features). I personally stopped buying and I'm sticking with Luminar AI until they do some bigger new release and fix their performance issues
Thank you!
Nothing can replace Lightroom...💯
Lovely
That intro gets me every time
It's also great to test concepts before heavy editing. Great vid🤘
Hey Peter, will you be doing an R7 review? Would really love to hear your thoughts on it.
Stunning software.
Thanks for sharing👍
I wanted to like Luminar Neo but it is ridiculously slow and while the convenience of features is meant to speed up my workflow, the apps slowness actually worsened the speed of my workflow. So I’m sticking to Lightroom until they find a way to fix it
It's super fast for me 🤔
@@DroningaboutIreland what computer are you using? I purchased the m1 Mac mini specifically for it and it gets bogged down but Neo a lot. Granted I work with a Leica Q2 and a Sony A7RIV so the file sizes are Huge
@@WeildtheTrident Macbook Pro with M1 Pro chip
@@DroningaboutIreland really? I have an M1 Max and luminar is super slow. The slowness is my only complaint.
My workflow is open in Lightroom, transfer to photoshop and use luminar plugin.
Every time you make an adjustment to a layer with luminar it has to open the plugin and takes forever.
Plus within luminar, actions take a long time to load.
again with a sick watch!
So MAD! So COOL! So GREAT!
Awesome tool
I’m looking for a good editing app that is not slow ! Any other suggestions ? I’m currently using Lightroom but it has been very slow and the support team was not much help.
PM is the greatest. That's it. That's the comment. LOVE IT!
That was quite great , actuallly
Thanks
PWATS UPPP PM here. Hahahahaha Golden Genius this Dude !
I used to edit my Thumbnails on my phone and i recently started using Canva which is really good … maybe i should try this also ?
Might have to purchase this software for fun
took u a while to cover this, I've been a luminar user for a while and I'd highly recommend it
Cool!✌️
That James Bond watch is cool !!
Wow Suddenly looks like we are back to 2016 Peter Mckinnon again!
Yo Peter with the release of the new DJI gimbals I couldn't wait to see your version of the review. Was this not something you were considering reviewing/using? Just curious because I love/trust your opinions so much
Pretty cool I must say, even for PROs.
If you owned a Luminar product before, it's cheaper to buy this without Peter's code or following his link.

I did the intro about 10 times to remind you that the “pwhat’s up” is important, Peter! Now your analytics will reflect that - you’re welcome, America!
I like how your hair is every color at once
Woooooo that sweet sweet Seamaster!!⚡🥵
Looks like a fun program 😎
Would like your opinion on my work 😁
Hey, i just wanted to know do i have to learn soft before i use soft soft? Also i wanna learn premiere and after effects.
I think, ‘learning from you is much more enjoyable’ than watching you vlogging around. I Don’t know. I started to think when you started doing vlog, spark isn’t there anymore. I like you more when you are teaching me (inspiring me) something.
Still I love you mate. Just a suggestion from your ‘windless’ fan 😜
I'm a professional photographer and I own Neo and AI. On both programs I really like the tools to enhance faces, sky replacement, sun rays and the glow effects. But the software is currently too slow for a proper workflow integration.
I hope that they will improve this part.
But we should not forget that these people are based in Ukraine - where a Russian invasion is happening. So things must be difficult for them.

great info, great app, ill stick to lightroom once i find where i can buy a battery for my nikon d5100 battetry (en-el14 battery) that isnt still 100$ (its a decade old camera)
I liked Luninar for a while but it got several issues, the biggest one for me was when I render a photo directly/indirectly( indirectly through Photoshop coz direct render mostly fails), the colors are washed out after a while when I transfer the image to my iPhone or another windows laptop, I am sure it’s something related to the color chart but it was hard for me to fix. I left Luminar. Additionally, the image size is too much and you need a photoshop to export your image through I guess it was heavy for my system I use iMac 27 inch core i7 though. Not sure if you guys have experienced the same problem.
Always loved Luminar. But switched to Lightroom because Luminar is just way way too slow for batch editing which is most of my photo editing. An album that I can edit in one hour will probably take three hours on Luminar. Same thing when it comes to exporting. Large file size means it takes like 5 times as long as Lightroom to export. Now I will only use Luminar if I want to edit like just one or two photos.
Cool
Pete! why don’t you include a link to the watches you wear in the videos ?
It is cool software!
My main issue with Luminar is what it does to photos when imported to the software. It automatically messes with the resolution and does something weird with the colors even before starting the edit.
What's the best photo editor
Lightroom,adobe,luminar?
You sold your soul :D
Great
Are they going to make a version for iPad?
I love you PETER
I'm disappointed that no reviewer ever mentions the slow performance of luminar especially when it comes to batch editing.
Omg yes !!! It’s exactly why i asked for a refund months ago after days of using . I couldn’t accept the fact it took hours to edit 1 photo due to LACK of speed the system has unfortunately
because they're getting paid to talk about the good stuff 💀
It’s sad these products get this kind of promotion. I wonder how much they pay for this kind of advertising.
He hinted it by saying "You have to wait a minute for Luminar to detect the Power Lines" 😂👍🏼
Use LR for import and basic editing, and use Luminar as a plug-in for single images.
I'm going to wait for a long while before jumping back into any Luminar products. I've purchased 2 versions already, and during my last project, Luminar somehow corrupted my entire photo library and the only solution I got from support was to delete everything and reinstall the app. So I went back to Lightroom.
yoooo.. what watch do you wear here.?! its insane.. i would like to know..
Love that 007 omega
Hey peter! You should demo ON1 Photo Raw. Its the best lightroom alternative. It includes importing, photo organization, ai denoise, presets. Its the whole ordeal and only $100 so its crazy. Especially for people who cant afford lightroom or dont want to pay for a subscription.
This looks like a great app but, would you use this more than you do Lightroom?
Hey Pete! Amazing vids as usual! An unrelated question, I was wondering if you could tell me how big are the picture frames to your side? I wish to have a similar wall of pictures. Cheers!
I have asked this before. No replies.
those looks like 50x70 cm frames
Terry, these frames are just large enough to capture Peter's ego. So not too big.

I’m assuming this isn’t an app ? I can’t find it on the apple store
for some reason YT shows the link to Peters other tutorials at the end, not allowing me to see the speed edit part of the video. very annoying, does anyone know how to turn this off?
I am a part time pro shooting portraits, headshots and weddings. Luminar PRO (not neo) is AMAZING got people edits. I HAAAAATE PS for skin retouching and L4P makes it one click done. I edited a whole wedding with 2 presets I created. For $79, SOOOO good !!!
Ok damn, Lightroom needs those smart masks all at once. Love that
I think a pro can use this as a jumping off point with photos…it’s no different than using LUTs or presets as starting points. Also would be great with batch editing.
Exactly. Maybe he didn't show us the problems he encountered with the software...
Can you export psd to then use in photoshop?
