This tool is amazing and your explanation is so straightforward and easy to understand. I have taken many RAW/JPEG pictures with my Sony A6000 and am excited about enhancing them with this tool.
As usual, great stuff. It's amazing to me how much Luminar can fix with just that one Enhance AI tool. I hope you're able to get some more videos soon of you heading out around NZ to take the photos. I enjoy those videos, not only because we get to see the country, but we also get to see the first part of the process, which is the actual photo capture. It's nice to see the full process from start to finished, edited photo.
Thanks 😀. Yeah I really like making those too. Turns out though they take about 3-4 times as long to put together and they get fewer views for some reason. I do intend to do more though! Thanks for the encouragement.
Thanks so much, Anthony! When u work on the photos, is it recommended for the photos to be on the c drive, or they will work if i have them on an external hard drive (an ssd external drive)? Tnx.
They'll work from wherever. But the fastest drive with the best, fastest connection to the motherboard will get the smoothest experience. Try both though because the actual difference may be negligible.
An excellent video Anthony showcasing the benefits of using Luminar Neo especially for beginners. I am just wondering if you have used ON1 2024? If so, which is better - ON1 or Luminar Neo?
Hi mate. I've used ON1 a lot in the past. I'm hoping to get into ON1 2024 and dig a bit deeper. They're both very able programs. For beginners I still think Neo is the better choice.
@@AnthonyTurnham Thanks Anthony for your prompt response. I am planning to buy Neo. I have ON1 2024 but finding the learning curve quite steep besides it freezes my computer. A few in a ON1 facebook group told me to "be very careful with Neo as it has a lot of bugs" besides the photo turning out to be quite amateurish post editing. Not sure if this is something that you experienced.
Hi @@sandeeptanjore1253. Yeah you're right to explore your options properly. One thing to remember with Neo is that because a lot of the tools are quite powerful and you can layer them up (which used properly is a great asset) if you go crazy with them things can end up looking over-baked. But that's more about how you use it and your eye for a good edit than it is about the software. With regards to bugs. Yep, back in the initial release (Feb 2022) there were several bugs that people found. I had it shut down on me mid edit a couple of times which was super frustrating. Thankfully with each release it's become more stable and with the last releases it's ran fast and flawless for me. If you want to go the Neo route they've got the summer sale running for a cou-ple more days and if you go here: bit.ly/NeoSale you can also save a bit more with a code they sent me for my viewers ( discount code AFF-T5C1C0 ). Best wishes, Anthony :)
Hi Anthony 1st you don't look old enough to have 30years of photo editing. 2nd great video I have never used Enhance AI but I think I may start using it in my process sometimes as it seems to do a great job.
Thank you very much I was thinking I was stuck with it. I follow your every new video I'm retired and I watch your videos to learn about photography and how to fix my family and other photos Again I thank you very much !!!
Several options really. There's the HDR extension that does a great job of giving a natural result with full dynamic range - providing you give it the appropriate bracketed set. Or use it with a single exposure to pull back shadows and highlights in that file. Or use the smart contrast slider, or the highlights recovery in the develop tool. Highlight control through curves, or even the highlights contrast slider in the Supercontrast tool. A lot of options really.
@@AnthonyTurnham Glad you mentioned HDR but single image HDR would be an option that is great to use as one can see where an image might be taken and then use of masking again can make the adjustment quickly to edit to individual taste. Your videos always make sense. Even though I subscribe to quite a few creators I don't get notifications anymore. One lady seems to have gone by the wayside as have a few gents. I view and save all NEO videos and can generally use a lot of the info in PSX but it has a few things missing and of course no Ai at all. Oh, I almost forgot, GMG1 might also consider saving exposures to his camera in both .jpg and RAW if he is concerned about blown highlights. He can also be sure to watch his histogram on the camera screen to see where the edge of the highlight side goes and also use whatever tool the camera offers to show clipping keeping in mind that it is easier to improve shadow areas than it is to glean imagery from blown highlights even when saving RAW images. If doing landscapes, it is easy to check the image chosen to capture and if RAW would be of assistance simply adjust in the menu to make that image capture in both and then if you need to save SD space, simply go back to .jpg Fine. Hello. Whenever I load in a photo to edit in Luminar Neo, the software initially does a weird de-saturation effect on the colors of the original photo and in some cases even adds a vignette on the corners by itself. Any edits that I make or even the effect of the AI enhance feature happens on this auto-edited version of the photo rather than the original. Can you please help explain why this is happening?
Yes, you're camera is probably applying it's own raw correction, so what you see and think is the 'original' has actually already been processed. When you open it in Neo that raw correction is reset and you're now seeing the true original without camera corrections. Try opening the same shot as raw and as jpeg. My hunch is that the jpeg will look the same as what you saw in camera. This is just a guess but very possibly what's going on... worth investigating though.
@@AnthonyTurnham you're probably right. I emailed the folks at Luminar as well and they said the same thing. But just some things I noticed - when I go to the develop raw feature and click on color, the temperature slider will sometimes have automatically shifted from the centre and to the left making the image look cold and washed out.. once I bring that back to the center the image already looks close to what I see initially.
Not a course as such, not yet anyway. People do keep asking me though, so perhaps I should look at doing something with more structure outside of youtube 🤔
Thanks Anthony for another great tutorial with Luminar Neo. You are one of the few creators who spend a lot of time featuring Luminar Neo, so I appreciate everything you’ve done. Keep up the great work!

I don't have Enhance AI in my version of Luminar Neo. Does it only work on certain file formats?
It's definitely going to be there. Perhaps it's repopulated into the favourites tab and therefore dropped out of the essentials section.
