Ocean beach is a freaking unfriendly body of water of all beaches. Heard a kiter who went out on a big day there…die. Johnny is My hero !!!…to get out on SUP foil passed shore breaks and carving on the face like this!!! Wow…respect!!!
Imagine if the first surfers in ancient Polynesia and Hawaii could see how far their craft has advanced! I'm in awe at the ease with which he traverses the waves!
This is the best carving I've seen yet in my new obsession. Making foils now in the shop just from having a look at these examples. Super stoked with the fine quality of stylin here ~ I just made a board similar to that one, several masts and strengths and weights. For the price of new equipment I can make several sets of different foils and boards. Epic turn for surfing ~ Aloha ~
Your videos and perspectives are totally great. Thank you. Love your positivity, enthusiasm, curiosity and humble vibe. You are the change I want to see in the world.
Surfers always talk about your bottom turn being most crucial and important to surfing well. Foiling is honestly just as really crazy and early and badass bottom turn. You go at the face of the wave and climb and then attack the lip and fly down the face. It’s still surfing. Just with modern technology. For anyone opposed to foiling, you should grab an alaia. Ditch your fins. Ditch your foam. Ditch your leash. Ditch your fiberglass. Ditch your wax. That’s all modern new technology to make surfing easier 🤷🏽♂️ foiling is simply new technology making surfing better. Sucks to see the hate for it. Once I learned to foil, I haven’t touched my surfboards much since.
Hi I'm still in sup surf , Gettin better than better I'm scared to jump to the foil. But I'm seeing you bro you awesome I'm a stoke watching you and the videos how you rip Good for you keep doing it💪🤙🤙🤙
Ya, there is so much footage of clean lines but if you are trying to learn it’s how to get out of trouble that is the most critical but seldom much footage of that. Leave a few struggles in if the rider doesn’t mind too much. Excellent vid. Thank you. One of your vid replies got me into wing and it’s now a passion.
Wow!! Johnny makes this this look too easy. All that pumping looks like a good workout! To get to this level I'm thinking probably takes years of practice. I recently tried efioling and even that is a change to keep balanced. Definitely inspiring =)
this is some of the most skillful surfing I have ever seen
Loving you vids. Refreshing stoke. Thanks.
That's insane. The speed he is carryng into those turn's unreal. Long way to go for me! :) Thx for sharing Clay! Love your voice over videos.

Intelligent voice over, this vid and following of SUP prone vs paddle. Congrats, Brave New World!

A virtuoso. Such a clean line in those carves. You can feel how he’s on the edge and in control at the same time. Pure sensation.
So good. Havent seen anything so fluent.
Another level!!! Johnny is a superhero I’m gonna watch this 10more times so stoked! Thanks for sharing!
Not only it’s fun to watch. It must be crazy fun to be doing it.
The BEST I've seen so far
love your videos and commentary!

That’s mastery!

Can relate to this. Still learning to sup surf, not ready to struggle w foiling just yet but it looks amazing.
This will be me next year. Well...maybe the year after. OK, OK, in my next lifetime!
I would have liked to see the wipeout at 4:29, you cut it. Nice to see the thrashing and how quickly he recovers.
I hear ya, it's deep enough outside that the energy dissipates, the shallow inside is where one gets worked.

Thanks for this video, it is so inspiring and uplifting, do you know which size of frontwing he s using ? 950 ?
Ripping 🤙🤛🙌🙏😄
major uptime
Amazing stuff. Can someone tell me how long foiling has been around?

have some respect man. He is literally a world champion foiler. I don't think you will get to his level even after years of practice.
That’s amazing! Clay, do you still live in Santa Cruz? If so, why drive all the way up to Ocean Beach.
Sweet, I live closer to OB, SC has been pretty small this season.
Niiice! is that the same board he uses to wingfoil? What do you think is board volume?
Different board, best guess around 100L
There are very few foilers in the world that can get away with the lean angles Johny pulls so easily.Supfoil or Wingfoil.
how does he paddle into a wave when he falls with the paddle?
Is it equipment and skill if u are on wrong stuff then u cant progress
Brutal
But were you “pumped”?
Ok….that’s it, I quit. 🤣
Thanks for the great content. From 2 years ago in case you never saw it: ua-cam.com/video/41FTmYeLEG8/v-deo.html
Right on, love brother Derek, and he rips!
