As a film student, I'm pretty broke but I love running my smallrig manual follow focus and my portkeys pt5 5 inch monitor as a small handheld monitor connected with the main camera monitor/s to use for focus pulling as a 1st AC or as my main monitor if I'm being a solo shooter for smaller projects or videography.
Switched to a parabolic umbrella a few months back also - the modified book light was the desire as well and I feel it does it the best. $40 for an XL umbrella and diffusion.
I really want to get the black magic video assist for my Fuji xh-2. For now my favorite piece of kit is my zoom f2 BT. That 32bit audio is a life saver.
Just found your channel looking for research on a new cine style bag. It's great to know that people working in the top level production company are not all in New York or LA. I'm at the bottom level of video production in.Indiana, but will keep an ear out for your name now when I'm working in South Bend, or at Notre Dame. Currently working FT in Video production now in Elkhart, was previously just working as a side hobby in the Michiana area for the past 20 years.
Hey, I recognize that Pier you shot at during some of the clips! Fellow Portlander and filmmaker, cool to see you stopped by to shoot here for your project! The SWIT Hot Swap plate seems like a really cool piece of kit to have, might look into it and see how it'd go for other camera setups like for RED, ARRI and the Venices. Cheers!!!
When using new gear on a project, how do you test it out to make sure its solid? I guess a cine lens is pretty hard to mess up but it just triggered my equipment anxiety.
I love this question and I'm going to make a video about it. It's a lot to think about but when ever you can use the new gear before you use it on a paid job, you should. Lenses test the focus throw and image quality. Camera test cards, settings, battery life etc - test all of the other things too. This will build confidence and you will know your way around the gear when something goes wrong.
Hello I saw you are the Kinefinity Lover and you doing excellent. Just want to know if the footage is too big to handle? I want to shoot the indi film in next 3 to 4 months and I am confused about to go with kinefinity or with Sony FX6 or FX9. I do have EVA1 Panasonic but I want to go with Full Frame, and Arri Look. this camera support native Arri Look. what do you suggest?
Hey fyi this video didn't pop up in my subscription feed, i found it through my recommended. judging by the viewer count, it looks like it didn't for alot of people
What does the 2T SSD use inside? I'm thinking of purchasing mavo and would like to use this as a reference. What do you think about the Samsung 990 PRO?
Why not carbon fiber rods? Is there a specific reason? Looks like titanium rods to me not aluminium. I only use carbon fiber rods , dont think that anything that mounts onto the rods should need the strenght of titanium so carbon fiber it is since its lighter.
Steel rods have better grip and don't flex under larger payloads- “lightweight “ is unnecessary for a camera build that's 20 pounds regardless of the rods.
@@RafalGendarz sure - usable DR is around 13stops (but you can control way more with lighting of course) 12 bit in PR4444, roll off is nice. All internal pro res, no raw. It works well for me. “Better” is subjective in a lot of ways. The mavo cameras a re fantastic value for the price and the updates keep getting better
What are some of your favorite pieces of gear you love to use on projects?

Thanks for the content, it’s very interesting to watch guys who actually film, and not just advertise equipment.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for making the video and showing off the manfrotto bag. Would be FANTASTIC with wheels. Haven't seen so much love for tenba but I'm here for it
yeah thats the one thing holding this bag back! Tenba has a leg up on it
Really interesting book-light idea! Such a small footprint.
Right?!! It worked like a charm too!

What do you think about those vivitar diopters? They are very cheap and sound good.
Very cheap and worth having in your kit.

@@CineDailies that is true , you use some way to support the setup anyways Such as a steadycam or easy rig. Good take , thanks !
