Does he have to make it look so effortless? As long as Ben Folds is alive, the promise of the Great American songwriter is still alive. Long live Ben Folds! Long live Ben Folds!
Discovered this video about 1 hour ago have not stopped playing it on repeat. Listen to my first Ben Folds song 20 years ago and listening for the first time to anyone of his song is still the same just so f****** incredible
I love this song so much!!! and YAY!! I'm not the only one who messed up on 'fly so low, sink so high'!!! BEN FOLDS MESSED UP TOO!! XD I love his music so much
Oh, I think he messed up, but he's so good that it doesn't seem like he did. Look at the face of the flautist. She *almost* cracked up. If that had been planned, I doubt she'd have reacted at all. Besides, Ben makes a little "I done goofed" head bob.
Such a strong and palpable emotional connection between yMusic, Ben, and his song, and most importantly the audience - this particular partnership communicates and connects on an emotional level. Bring on being capable of connecting emotionally through music, and not the sinister "anything!"
Perhaps my favorite songwriter from 1997 to 2019. Admittedly, he hasn't had much competition in the last few years. Rock and pop has bit the dust, more or less.
Check out Gotye - he doesn't want the attention that comes from making music, so there's only three albums, but he's got some really dang good stuff too. But I think I might agree with you about Ben - he's just so dang good.
@@davidwise3426 Yeah, that song got a stupid amount of airplay, but he's got a bunch of others that were really good too. And the videos for them are usually pretty dang cool as well.
@@davidwise3426 I didn't mind the overplay, but it got just plain old silly for a while. For some songs, overplay kills them for me, but Somebody that I Used to Know is still really good and I leave it on whenever I hit it.
Wow, what Ben Folds can do with a tiny keyboard! That is crazy! I just don't see how you could do octaves though. Well, whatever! It still sounds awesome.
close to when the BEATLES did the ROOF TOP THING...I love it .I Watch Every Face Every Move .The professional way they do everything. Not Just This Song!!!
+Chris Gilmartin It's not a snare, it's a cajon The guy sitting on the Box thing hitting it with a mallet. HIs right hand is hitting the side of the cajon making the "snare" sound
+droid8472 his right hand is playing the "kick". watch starting at 1:54 - you hear a snare on the twos but his left hand is trilling with his fingers. I'm calling bullshit. I'm kidding of course, I don't really care but I thought it was just funny that they have all those musicians and no one can hit the snare?! ;)
+cgilmartin Correct. Not only that, but before that his hand isn't even on the face of the cajon, so it couldn't possibly be making a snare sound. If you hit the side of a cajon it just makes a flat wood smacking noise.

Sounds just as good as the album version, which is insane. Love this

"But you don't seem to think that you can fly so high or sing... so high." lmao. Great song!
He knows this. Listen again. We love human mistakes. Love Ben Folds!
@@CACTYSWHY Thanks, Captain Obvious... Mr. Folds is aware and guess what? He's allowed to make mistakes.
Even a Jedi's mind is blown!
Brilliant to see the whole song come together in one live session!
Ben Folds and yMusic are now the people I really want to hang out with most
Still one of the best live performances of a song I have ever seen and heard.
This Alex Sopp character is so talented and beautiful. She is my celebrity crush now....this gig must make her at least a Z-list celeb, right?!
Abso-fucking-lutely phenomenal. This is why I love Ben.
+Jack Stenholt IKR?? he is so amazing
I love it that he occasionally lets his players sing a few lines.

Yea, don't think he messed up. He just altered it to be more witty. But we all love BF, so it's all good
Oh, I think he messed up, but he's so good that it doesn't seem like he did. Look at the face of the flautist. She *almost* cracked up. If that had been planned, I doubt she'd have reacted at all. Besides, Ben makes a little "I done goofed" head bob.
Impeccable musicianship all around. Fantastic.
This is my favorite version of the song. I really like the levels on the drum and the Trumpet.
This song is just magical. The whole collaboration was, honestly.
absolute genius
Ben Folds: the best musician to hear live. Great job you guys!
Why does this not have more views. Oh people. I feel bad for those who don't follow the Folds.
Could just be me but am I the only one who watches every day (almost)? Can't stop
Unreal

Amazing! Going to the concert in Melbourne next week...can't wait.
Birmingham, England; 13th June, 2016. You had to be there.
I've been listening to this on repeat for the last few days. So ridiculously beautiful.
My god, the flute player is absolutely gorgeous.
I love this combo! Just saw them in concert a few nights ago, and it was incredible!
I LOVE THAT!
we played this for our marching band show last year. it was a really fun experience.
This just started my day off perfectly! Wonderful music :)

prob best thing on the web right now
the clarinet park is so sick
Beautiful song from a beautiful album!
Flawless.
와대박. 귀가 청소되네. Truly refreshing!
Absolutely wonderful!! What a great song!
As always, I think you're amazing. Great song.
Gosh that was so good! Thanks Ben and crew!

This is sooooo damn good!!!!
This is bonkers.
Awesome song. Reminds me of old Death Cab and a little of Beulah.
1:13 1:50 Incredibly catchy swing the drummer has there
This is awesome!
So good! This is realy art

I absolutely love this, but I don't understand where the snare drum sounds are coming from.
The man on the left is playing a cajon, which is a box drum, with the mallet. They have snares inside of them.
Man, who is that flautist? She's crazy good! (and for some reason she reminds me of Stephanie Beatriz)
+CarBen Dioxide - Her name is Alex Sopp, and yes, she IS that good.
+WashingtonSYRA thanks!
Was that Thom Yorke playing the trumpet?
I WAS ABOUT TO ASK THE EXACT SAME FUCKING THING
How did he land Thom Yorke on the trumpet?
Shoutout to all my fellow trumpeters.
i like this better than the album version
Great song, but who is playing the snare?

+cgilmartin Correct. Not only that, but before that his hand isn't even on the face of the cajon, so it couldn't possibly be making a snare sound. If you hit the side of a cajon it just makes a flat wood smacking noise.
+theoya there is such a thing as a snared cajon, y'know.
Oh shit when Ben Folds made a mistake in the lyrics 😲
But seriously this Album and arrangements are badass and I'm a fan
The fluffy-haired guy is really cute :)
i like the flappy hand he did at 3:17 haha~

LOVE that there's a hornist in this!!
He plays French horn too!!
Ergo, "hornist" :)
Sounds like Jonsi ?
What keyboard is Ben playing?
+Joel Corriveau , a Casiotone 201 from 1980, Casio's first Casiotone (and first consumer keyboard after the VL-Tone "Da Da Da" VL1)
sounds grat but where is the redoblant??

What is this
It doesn't make much sense
They sing it like a pop song
You're capable of anything
And I'm sure they meant
You could be president
Or you could just forgive me
But I
Stopped
Caring what you think about me
I
Gave up
We're
Told
We are capable of anything
But you don't seem to think
That you are
Capable of anything
Swung and missed
I put my heart in this
Mythical holy good guy
I want so bad to be
But I was weak and wrong
And when I owned it all
It only made you rightous now
You get to blame your life on me but,
I
Stopped
Caring what you think about me
I
Gave up
We're
Told
We are capable of anything
But you dont seem to think
That you are
Capable of anything
You are
Capable of anything
But you dont seem
To think
That you could fly so low or sink so high
That you could ever love again or even try
That you could steal
Or cheat, or kill, or lie
But you might
Great song. Sounds like some of the drums were added later though...
+Jason Talbott I think it's just how those drum boxes work. Depending on where you hit them, they make different noises.
this might beat his album supersunnyspeedgraphic the l.p.
echoes of planetarium
or just sufjan in general

Sounds like Belle & Sebastian :)
The only way that this is better is if they are all dressed up in Renaissance festival gear.
Is this romperoomcore?
Seriously, what is better than that?
Seriously.....
