hope you wanna do more parts to this series! i just found your channel and so for your videos are perfect, super informative and i love all the interesting facts you add in. theres so many cards with cameos when theres set cards and promos but a lot of my favorite cards are ones with cameos
I was hoping for a part 2! I love you for making this. :)
Great to see another video; I am surprisingly nostalgic for the Neo era even though that was about where I fell off. I appreciate you pointing out some of the other littler quirks of the card, too
I think the weird cow...thing....in the Moo Moo Milk card is proabbly meant to be something the farmer set up to feed pokemon. You can see that the "neck" looks like a capped hole, so they probably poured the milk into that, then the pokemon suckles on the fake udders.
Which probably means that the reason it was changed, even in Japan, might have been because it was (1) just a really weird interpretation of moomoo milk and (2) it looked too much like a real world cow and by that point the "real world" elements were wayyyyy out of style.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's done in wild animal care centres, so they don't become too trustful or dependant on humans.
I really like the TCG trivia being presented so well and in such detail in your videos.
I love this series!
Please continue it if you want to 😭
Yay, the chosen one is back, have you seen that The Pokémon Company shall be bringing back the Delta Species mechanic along other legacy mechanics prior to the Black and White era in the Pokémon Celebration set?
Looking forward for your Delta Species episode, hopefully.
Yes! The five promo cards revealed so far look great, and I'm pretty interested to see what the rest of the set has in store. Also, I definitely will be making a video on the Holon region as promised in my Power Creep vid, but I haven't decided when or how I want to do it yet.
Just found your channel. I got hit by nostalgia this week, so I was pleasantly surprised to find a channel that produces well made and well narrated videos regarding Pokémon TGC. Keep the good work!
Great work on this. I hope you do all the sets because the production on this video is so great.
What you said for Arcade Game: If two of the names match, you keep all three.
What it actually says: If two of the names match, you keep the ones that have said name. Shuffle the third card back into the deck.
Nice video
Very happy the algorithm recommended your videos to me. Keep up the good work, your videos are great!
Your images, audio, and everything you put in your videos are simply perfect. I’m sad I just found your channel now, but so happy and thankful I did! Please keep it up.
This is around when I stopped playing it so is cool to see all these
You know, if you look at the "Crossing the Ruins" Ruin Wall. To me, that one doesn't look like a Raichu. It looks more like a Pikachu. Look how much smaller the overall shadow is, and how neat and pointy the ears are. 6:54
And there are three Fossil Based puzzles in the Ruins of Alph. Aerodactyl, Kabuto and Omastar. I've always wondered if maybe they meant to release a 3rd one with a Pichu shadow cast on the missing puzzle. Just a thought.
That's a nice format you have there, I think I might just take it for my main channel. As you've abandoned the project for over a year I'd say you won't mind ;) interesting videos
I hope you consider making vids again. Just found your channel and it's pretty cool.
Very relaxing voice. You do very well on the descriptions of the card. I like that a lot
Looking forward to part 3
New pokemon click bait at 9:12
Scarmory, a lost legendary bird?
This is awesome
Keep these coming please!
You gotta continue this !!
Found your channel from your latest vid. Loving them. Hope we can get a part 3 of this!
Pokemon march one of my favorite arts :)
Part 3? 🥺
From my understanding Dark Raichu was first created for the Japanese Neo discovery. The TCG was and still is created by the Creatures Inc so WOTC was in complete mercy of Creatures Inc as they only had the licensing to produce cards in the US and other international markets. Wotc cherry picked dark Richu for the Rocket English release and apparently we're in perfect time.
Dark Raichu's an interesting case. It appears in Pokemon GB2 for Game Boy, fitting since that game was based around the Team Rocket set and Dark Pokemon. However in this game it's simply a "GB promo". No set is listed. And it's attack is worded and functions like all GB original cards. That is, listing random effects and damage, but not requiring any coin flips or anyway of telling the player how to resolve those effects since the Game Boy will do that calculating for you. Many of these GB cards received physical releases and became quite wordy with modified, but similar effects, that aren't quite 1 to 1 in order to utilize coin flips. And this is very much the case for Dark Raichu, where it's quite wordy and it's effect isn't exactly the same but very similar. In GB it has a 33.33% chance of doing 0, 10 or 20 damage to the opponent's bench. On Table Top it's a %50 to do nothing, an then a 25% to do 10 or 20 respectively, since a true 1/3 chance would requires way more text and coin flips. This to me implies Dark Raichu was made for Game Boy an then Adapted.
Now here's where it gets interesting. GB2 came out in Japan after Neo Discovery and the Japanese release of Dark Raichu. However, despite it coming out in the middle of the Neo era, it features no Cards from that era. And only a single Gym card (which does feature a Gym Set Logo). Pokemon "GB1" came out in 98, over three whole years before GB2. Yet GB2 features only one more complete set then it's predecessor. I have a strong feeling GB2 was suppose to come out much closer to the first game, but got delayed for whatever reason. I don't know this for a fact, but it just makes sense to me. Especially when you consider how the GB2's treats Lugia with great reverence and mystery. Much how he was treated in late Gen 1 media before the release of Gold and Silver. I just don't think the game would be "Ooing and Awwing" over Lugia, with teaser images in the credits, with Gen 2 being a few years-old by this point. But would definitely be doing that if the game came out around the same time as the 2nd Movie. But I'm just speculating.
So, let's say hypothetically, Creatures Inc (The Pokemon Company), had these GB Pokemon cards, and their artwork, are just laying around. Which we know they made "actual cards" for before pixelizing for the game, because of "Silver Bible". And let's assume Wizards had access to these documents. And they have a Brand new set coming out in the states, with these exciting new Dark Pokemon. But, oh on! It's going to be the first TCG set to not feature Pikachu or it's evolution! We can't do that, that's the mascot! Oh but, look! Over in Japan they have this "Dark Raichu" card that'd be perfect for the new set. How fortuitous!
Now I know that's a lot of ifs, and I'd love confirmation either way.
12:47 I thought the video had stopped loading XD
Magnifier looks like Zubat about to have a bat time
What a banger video. Wow.
Love this. Please keep making them
Great channel, please keep doing what you do!
This is one of the most interesting concepts that nobody talks about. I wish more fans would pay attention to the TCG cause there’s a lot of interesting stuff about it.
4:26 I think it's an oddish
This is so sick
Excited for part 3!
The Southern Island cards were my favorite. I got them 2 years early. My friends would call my reverse holographic Marill as "pikablu"
Goldenrods song is 🔥
This is awesome. Your attention to detail is great, and the way you've edited this is excellent!
Played the HELL out of these original sets, back when Wizards had the Pokemon license. And weren't evil.
Really nifty idea for a video series. Hope you do more eventually!
Where can I find these full arts of all the pokemon together like @8:13? I checked the description and didn't see where exactly they were.
I got them from the Southern Islands page on Bulbapedia
Very well made and presented!
Your channel is one of my favorites. Please make more content! 🙏
I have the rainbow island onix card! I loved that thing and it's so fun to see the other parts of the art piece!
7:34 Mby i missed something but
the Vileplume is right there? top left card
Those Light Pokemon cards have the cutest illustrations ever.
What i think is crazy that Computer search had always a flat screen.
7:02 I always thought it was a Dratini, given the left ear's shadow.
This was a very fun video, I love seeing the fun connections in pokemon art.
I wish these card packs were cheap as I love the art, every pull is a treat
Good work - more of this could be good if you're up for it
If anyone would like Part 3 ua-cam.com/video/DfpkjrMV0Ug/v-deo.html
What bugs me a bit is Mantine being pronounced as “MAN-TEEN” when it should be “Man-TINE”. Tine rhyming with Line. Which is why its Japanese name is “Mantain” (Ma N Ta I N) and not “Manchiin” (Ma N Chi - (- standing for the extra I) N.
But that’s just me though
Idk I always thought it was manta + marine
You missed out the vending series from Japan.
Great video! Super enjoyable to watch
Anyone know the specific song list?
I always thought that raichu statue was mewtwo
That's definitely looks like the silhouette of Hitmontop on the Focus Band card to me
I thought it looked much more like Corsola.
I like to imagine that the Weedle from gust of wind and scoop up evolves into the kakuna in switch, and thus, the Pokemon trainer who scooped up Weedle before then Super scoop ups Magnemite.
I want part 3 please
Very NICE
You need to up your thumbnail and title game
It’s criminal that you only have 1000 views
man i love komiyas artwork, hes my fav pokemon illustrator. that moo-moo milk is so funny and pokemon march is adorable
0:24 a more accurate comparison for this pokepower may be the ability swarm, which heracross is able to have in the games. Swarm boosts the power of bug type moves when the user is at low HP. Even though abilities did not exist back in gen 2, perhaps these pokepowers show signs of early inspiration!
i hope you make another episode for this. this video help me complete my collection
Cool vid
I really appreciate that your include many of the OSTs from the Pokemon TCG 2 sequel, for the Game Boy Color.
It's SUCH an incredible game.
10:55 That's... a toilet...
