This is so well thought out. The separate boost master volume is brilliant, the ability to choose ir for each channel, real tubes, incredibly well thought out and I need one.
For 499, it's a game changer.

Not for me. I got 2 SYN-2, so 4 preamps into an ENGL power amp. Meaning, 8 tube amp channels. It does not get any better for me. Thinking of it, I still got the Friedman Motor City Drive Tube pedal. But I am not using that for a long time, tbh.
@@shorerocks Amazing set up you've got! For me a big factor is mobility so small preamp into PA is optimal solution. I own Syn1 with Soldano module.But of course rig like yours would be ideal sound wise with selection of 4 modules. Dream rig
@@raf8044 Well, this is in my studio only. Absolutely love it (Bogner Uberschall, Friedman BE BB, Fryette Deliverance, VAI modules). Hi Gain heaven. I would not want to carry that around, tbh. Then again, my ENGL Invader ways another ton. Or so :-).

If I was to plug this into a power amp only and then into a 412 cab, does this still need to be plugged into some sort of actual preamp. Or is this good enough to send the proper signal voltage into a Poweramp?
from what I see and understand it is your preamp bud, shove pedals in front, then either go DI with the IRs on or into a poweramp and cab with the IRs off, looks proper.

how do you know. everything sounds incredible on an official promo demo advertisement vid. whether it will sound incredible in your hands with your setup for your intended purpouse you wouldn't know until you try it in that situation.
@@WatchingMamut It's a preamp into IR's. One of the big points that is said over and over again is the guess work is taken out of it and this is what you get. You don't have an amp and pedalboard with a bunch of variables. I understand what you're saying, but I can't say that something I heard with my ears sounds good?

So this unit, unlike a lot of other amp modelers, will power a 2x12 or 4x12 cabinet, and can you access the ir,s without having to do it on the computer
Can I use the fx loop, run line to power amp as well as FOH or do you loose the fx loop if you run into a power amp via the fx loop out?
I would think you should be able to place your effects between the IR-X’s FX loop Send jack and the input jack of your power amp (or the FX loop Return jack of a regular guitar amp).
I wonder if it sounds as good as Synergy Fredman module.
Can this be used like the Victory pre amp pedals to add more channels to an existing amp

No Kemper slayer is ToneX. It literally almost completely nulls out against the amp you are capturing and it’s only $300. This however doesn’t simulate an amp or let you capture an amp. You’re comparing apples to oranges.

Depends on the inputs on the soundbar. If you wanna know how it would sound, just play this video through the soundbar. I reckon it should sound fine but just wont move air like a larger speaker.
Man if Keith Richards can record Street Fighting Man into a handheld tape recorder you can probably get this thing to sound like gold through a sound bar.

Could my effects pedals work on this effects loop if my amp doesn’t have one?
Idk if this is the best product for amps with no fx loop. But maybe if it has LOTS of clean headroom. Then yea, you can use the fx loop on this.
You’re gonna have trouble using this as a pre amp if you can’t run into a power amp in. Its not a distortion pedal. If you run into a loopless amp, you’re gonna have 2 preamps in a row. It will work, but is it ideal? Nope. I am gonna try it into my fender twin reverb anyway, sure. But its not why i got it.

We put a friedman demonfx worth $50 and sounded better than the new friedman ir worth $900 but hay good video
I’m returning it. I thought my zuma could power this, just to remind people it’s 12v 800ma. Also, if your using the 200 watt Seymour Duncan power amp with a cab. The ksr ceres preamp is amazing.

@@MsSpicynipples I gave it another try. I daisy chained from the zuma to the Friedman so now I don’t need another power supply. I messed with it a bit more also I swapped out my speakers in my 2x12 cab. I have the swamp thangs and the man-o war eminence speakers. And now it sounds better. I originally had the man o war and Alessandro speaker in series.

I would imagine. Its a modded Marshall preamp. With the right boost, I am sure it would sound great.

@@Turbo-D I am pretty sure the are based on the two channels of a Brown Eye, so probably not.
@@Turbo-Dnot any more modern metal than existing Friedman amps, which is to say, I wouldn't think it would be ideal for high gain modern metal.
Go listen to the demo with Dave Friedman and Sammy Boller. It does high gain. This demo player sucks at demoing.
I wish this had two main outputs, so you can return your loops effect into the preamp, send one output to your speaker on stage and the emulated balanced to the PA system.
All you need is a simple Y-cable coming out of your effects...
can you use this as a head to a real cabinet?

@drezial I mean, maybe a little more similar with the right IR, but preamps can still make a pretty big difference on their own. I would love to see an SLO and a Model T.

Can you just cut to the chase and say whether or not you can actually plug this directly into a speaker cab? If so, what ohm cabs would it take? Or can this only be used with DAW in place of a real amp?
You would have to run it into a power amp.

@@psm6618the thought behind the product seems to be more of a single solution recording tool. You could run this into the effects return of your amp. Just turn off the IR and power amp sims on the pedal. But I think most people will be running this into a DAW or just plugging headphones into it for silent practice

It’s amazing that after 20 some years of it being done, a tube preamp with a digital back end is seen as “forward thinking” because it has Friedman’s name is on it. Gotta respect the power of a brand that can make people think that.

I really don't see this thing as useful and more of a novelty. For $300-500, one could get a full-featured modeler, like Atomic Amplifier with SHARC DSP, 12 footsw., and more than 1 trick pony! imo
I’m on the fence, as I already have plugins and amps. I see this as for the gigging musician who wants a small footprint preamp for their pedalboard. If one already has his amps and doesn’t gig then it is a novelty.
