I remember a PvT of Myungsik vs Maru where Myungsik went phoenixes and dominated Maru the entire game. Maru lost most of his drops with no success but made zero vikings and only bio. By the end of the game some widowmines landed on all the phoenixes and maru just won the game.

He sniped every colossus in the army before Myungsik ever attacked him, and he sniped two bases while expanding, so it ended up being 5 base to 2 and Maru won. widow mines hitting the pheonixes didn't win it. The fact Maru was up multiple bases and never took a bad fight won it

If Protoss is so strong vs Terran in the late game, why did the Protoss playert keep trying to win an early game rather than play defensive until reaching the "late game"?

The fact that Maru dominates this stupidly hard shows that most of the protoss or zerg pro these days in Korea are just lazy to experiment with new styles of plays. They automatically go into midgame 2 base mode every freaking game. What about one base timing? 4 gates? fake expansion into timing push? carrier rush? stargate & battery rush? how about being more active on the map? or making 3 oracles to kill stim upgrade? or making tons of collosus like artosis suggested? Except for classic & dark, the other pro these days, they probably think it's comfy enough for them on the ladder and thus too lazy to find novel ways of play. Tbh, trap getting in here was just a dumb luck because Ty got pissed of on the technical difficulty game 1 and it's a shame Ty never regained the composure which ultimately costed him the series. This semi final would have been much more entertaining if Ty got in. One sided series sucks.
So strange when Trap just recently as shown in offline really did dominate Maru, played some great games and like counters Maru's Style. Trap just played odd and tried brute forcing a steel door open.
If Maru wins a 4th championship im gonna be disappointed, its not that he did not deserved it it just shows how broken the caliber of the player now are.

Trap has this huge mistake: He doesn't push when he is ahead You can see that at 58:00 and the first time was in second game when he had stalkers in Maru base and did not use that advantage. He waited for something, perhaps thinking that he needs more troops.
@@holdenmcgroin8917 but what i got from this series is that trap either had insufficient micro, sometimes chose the wrong builds and just plain made some mistakes. I agree he has shown to be better than this but as far as first impressions go in the quarter and semis i can't say he's at that level yet

Tried to watch it live, but my time is 13hours different (behind) Korean time....so was too tired. Already watched all of the videos the night before, so was lacking sleep. Well, I watched half and will watch the other half NOW!!
You can watch past boardcasts on their twitch channel, which have all the chat from livestream. I find it just enjoyable as the actual live stream as long as you don't go to liquidpedia and spoil yourself with the results.
I don't get why they keep underestimating Maru's capabilities on this game. "If it was Zest ..." Stop. Zest didn't even survived to R32 and you expect that he could handle Maru in his current form?!

If Maru goes (because he is the number 1 player in the world) Starcraft game play will change, and top tier players of the time will eventually lose their place! Yeah, I'm willing to bet that it was a confidence thing. He played SO well against TY and Innovation, but didn't even put up a fight against Maru. Maru helped him prepare for those great wins, and I think that lead to him believe that he could not win against Maru. Trap was defeated before the game even started, he seemed like he was satisfied with his run and didn't mind losing to Maru.
@@Sapreme Agree with those points but i think another big factor is that not every player is a great strategy-guy and maybe their team do the strats for them, so trap being in the same team as maru have grat strats-people, but for the intra-team-duel the stratpeople probably dont want to help either of them to much which cause trap having to come up with builds on his own, which he might not be used to anymore and some other small factors like that. Like every MMA-fighter got a coach that will watch tape on the opponent and detect flaws and tell his fighter, but if its two people from the same gym they wont reveal the flaws obviously.

Also tying in to the MMA example, mentality is a HUGE factor in competition. When GSP fought Matt Hughes for the first time, he could not even look at him in the eye because he was in awe of getting to fight somebody he looked up to. GSP ended up submitting to an armbar before pressure was applied, with seconds left in the round. In the rematch, GSP came back in confidant, looked him in eyes, and won pretty convincingly.
The difference between the best terran player and 2nd best terran player is wide as an ocean. Ty get stopped by zest and trap while Maru roll over them.......
You can also do that or any one even bronze league. While baseless key spamming is the one they address as source of 700+ APM you can also do that with "rapid fire" and hit 1000apm

He didn't have problems with his PC. Watch the reply again. When Trap was pushing he was controlling his units and during that time the game was already lost for him because he didn't expect the DTs.
traps probe production this game really really sucked.... at least game three should have been a win for him, if he just had produced some more probes and not cut at 49 when you take a third anyway...

I think Maru doesn't take other tournaments seriously, only GSL, which explains his losses left and right elsewhere and just utter dominance here.

traps probe production this game really really sucked.... at least game three should have been a win for him, if he just had produced some more probes and not cut at 49 when you take a third anyway...
if he makes a lot of probes he dies, he needs to warp in units
