give the Microcenter employee a raise...dude has amazing customer service etiquette and is very knowledgeable
100%!
Theyll awkwardly tell him good job and thatll be that. 😢
The Houston Microcenter crew is top notch. They actually understand the hardware and what they're selling. I enjoy going there.
I tried to apply at one, their pay is mostly commission, hourly rate is fairly low.
But, that wasn't at the Houston micro center, i think, so.
I don't know what the commission structure looks like but depending on how favorable it is for the employee, commission sales can be pretty sweet. I did commission sales for years and I really enjoyed a lot of things about it. I wish the store I worked for had cool stuff like PCs and PC parts and 3d printers and all the other cool stuff micro center has.
Isaiah is a gem, we need more dudes like him.
I went to high school with him. Chill and hilarious guy.
It's not goodbye, it's see you later.
Ready for season 3, let's go!
will there be season 3 or you decided there will be?
I'll start season 3@@Yadd7
I wish they had a franchise in the uk with deals like that!
PC world! oh..not 1991 anymore..currys? Waay to much..Maplins!...oh wait..yeahh :(
@@razorsz195 I can get discounts for some shops but most are mid lmao
yeah we definitely need one
All internet these days isnt it. Will admit though, have not used eBuyer for years as most of the stuff they do is no better than Amazon (well it was when I stopped using them).
I think best option these days is PC Partpicker as at least it gives you various options so you can price match.
@@razorsz195 PC World was always too expensive, but then again it was part of Currys/Dixons anyway.
Hell I remember the days of Comet and Tandys ha ha
when upgrading from a 1060 3gb, going with a 4060 is absolutely a great option at the $300 price point, and this is coming from someone that does not rock with Nvidia at all (team red all day lol). We are talking a 250% uplift in performance for only $100 then what you paid for the 1060 (OG msrp), and you get that 4000 series feature set. Congrats dude! great job as always Greg. Love!
its still overpriced
@@flitai I totally agree. Sadly, people will never give up their Nvidia allegiance, and give AMD a try. Even though our FG is better (latency wise), we have FSR/Xess, and you get more performance for cheaper. I had a friend who had the option to get a 6900xt for $400, instead he chose a 4060ti 8gb lololol. I tried to tell him.
Honestly speaking, best tech youtuber. I love your work man!
Among giants in this space, your words are much appreciated!
love this series man, can’t wait for next season. great work Greg!
Thanks for the support!
@@GregSalazar Next time, come to Denver. It'd be great to see you here. Best of luck with the series. It seems to be going well!
Isiah is the best PR for that Microcentre Store 🥰🤩💪👍! He awesome and would love to get him on again in the future for sure! Congrats to Lyle for winning himself an awesome gaming build from Microcentre and enjoy many more gaming sessions my man 🥰🎧😇👍🥳
FYI: Houston Microcenter have 50% off open box Cases. Just picked up a o11 mini for 45.
"No Keyboard Detected"
"Press F1 To Run Setup"
Awesome season! I love the Houston Micro Center, I make a 2.5 hour drive from Austin every few months!
It went from: We're getting a GPU to: Everything but the power supply... to new everything real quick. Isaiah (sp?) is a boss.
They definitely did him dirty with the 4060, Poor dude
which he needed nothing of really, the 1060 is still viable to run games 60 fps and over in 2023.
650w is perfect for this rige small amd + 4060 no reason to change power supply
@@dazzle4416 That depends a lot on the game, many newer AAA games won't run at 1080p 60fps on a GTX 1060 3GB
@@TheFalseShepphard Going from a 1060 to a 4060 is a huge jump in performance especially for free.
Micro Center here in Houston is ALWAYS busy since Fry's went out of business. But I've always loved going there even as a kid when they were at their old location right on the West Loop.
Love it! and loved the Lyle reference.
What's your favorite Lyle quote? Mine has to be "He's not fighting static, he's fighting cancer!" from the Verge PC build reaction video.
Agree with comments about the Microcenters sales-man, extremely knowable , added quite a lot to the video, great series, hope to see more videos like this one , although miss your real life spinning wheel, versus the funky digital one
Love this playlist and Micro Center is definitely the way to go moving forward to next season. Would love to see the next season at the Micro Center in Fairfax, VA. Keep up the amazing work Greg.
Microcenter has killer deals. I just picked up a I9 12900k with z690 mobo and 32gb of ddr5 for 400 bucks. They were selling a bundle. I'm upgrading from a 7 year old system myself.
Love these series, I actually began watching your content bc of it... great advertisement for micro center, but also such a cool concept!
I must say for a counter-strike fps title gamer as my self, I love this rig the most of all of them, nvidia amd combo is gonna give this guy soo much fps in these competitive titles
I was in MicroCenter Houston last weekend, getting a desktop for the missus. Great folks there
So addicted to watching your videos, literally my favorite notification my phone gets
I really appreciate that, Travis!
Greg is the hero we don't deserve, but we need
Not a bad idea to go with the 4060. You get all the new tech features and it sips on power, which will take more strain off that Thermaltake White PSU
i hope he and everyone who participated, is happy now and didnt regret any decisions made in micro Center, happy so see them happy, yes
There's always regret, especially when it's free.
Love your work Greg. Professional, fun and humble best 3 combination. Keep up the good work man
awesome stuff Greg very cool of you doing this for someone .. very big thumbs up
Thanks for watching!
Leaked Info-
Season 3 Location is based at Micro Center in Denver, Colorado.
@Greg Salazar, come to the St. Louis Missouri Microcenter! I went in there for the first time a few months age. It is literally a pc builders paradise. I loved it!
Awesome! If you're looking to do this again, come to the Dallas Micro Center! The Fry's we used to have here closed down during the pandemic and now it and Best Buy are all we have left.
We bought open box laptops last year at the Microcenter in Maryland. Saved 100s vs new and they work perfectly.
Personally would have gone with a 6700xt for the extra vram but I know a lot of people still prefer Nvidia, can't beat a whole new PC for that price either way. Grats
These people are like allergic to AMD 💀
did not help that the whole "AMD hot and driver issues" talking points are still being pushed lmao
I kinda knew there would be a ram seating issue cause he had to push the ram pins in as they didn’t snap back, I did the same thing on my first build and spent 3 days troubleshooting 😂😂
This was a great video such a great season with all the videos. Thanks look forward to seeing whats to come next time
Isiah is a good dude. He helped me last time I was there. All of people at this location are cool
Great Series Greg!
Hopefully you can do this when the Charlotte location is open. Would love to meet such a humble dude!
Patiently waiting for the micro center in Charlotte. Finally one I can actually go to even if it is a little over an hour out. Totally worth it
I hope they open a micro center in Oregon soon, Amazon and Best Buy are killing me.
Agreed. Tired of Best Buy. Micro Center should just buy up Best Buy
@@BrandoniousMaximus My local Best Buy is like a ghost town at this point, They are knocking on deaths door because they decided to offer too many things and cant stay competitive with pricing on most of it.
For Real! Only 3 days of shoplifting, free high end PC! When it gets built, I'm moving to Oregon!
Are they useing hired gun?
also in anchorage alaska they should open one (they probably won’t because it’s alaska but i want one)
9:55 you can see the RAM seating issue in action! I was yelling at my monitor XD
Great series and great content! Love ya Greg!
I hope you can come up here to Charlotte when our Microcenter opens (December or January depending on who you believe) and do something like this
yes we need more of such videos
Cannot wait for the next season! Thanks for the amazing work Greg!
Thanks for another fun video, Greg, I wish you could do more of these, but with travel and expenses, I get the seasons being short. But, a man can dream, a man can dream.
Would love to see more videos for the Gear Up series, my favorite playlist 😀
That new PC is going to be such a huge upgrade over his last one, congrats dude!
Greg, sad you’re leaving Houston, but enjoyed your content as always. I’ve needed an upbeat distraction from the LMG implosion and you always deliver. Love your good work sir!
Awesome series, well done.
Looking forward to more in the future
On todays episode of "How to build an $800 computer using Microcenter's open box deals."
Hahah I'm definitely gonna have to juice up the money wheel for season 3 😅
and some amazing in-store bundle deals and prices too.
Could it be that the wheel is set so the probability of getting any high numbers is much much less than the lower numbers seeing that it is a program your using 🤔. No one got the high numbers and I only remember 1 person getting the add 100, maybe bring back the big wheel in the next season 🤷🏻♂️.
he actually didn't get any open-box components tho.
which were not needed.
Love this series man! Would love to see you come to the Kansas City Micro Center!
another fine episode. I enjoy PCDC too, keep up the good work Greg
Come up here to MN. Our Microcenter rocks!
There is a Micro Center in Brentwood, MO, which is a suburb of St. Louis, you could try for the next season. Plus it's a location close to me so I might have a chance of getting my ancient computer updated so I can start gaming on it lol
Wish he could've carried over his old case since it had that old school flair but the end product is still decent. Can't wait for the next season of this series! Shouts out Greg and Micro Center!
Tbh that Lepa case looks like a bad clone of BitFenix Shinobi. It's like they took the front panel of the Shinobi and put it on a generic case which doesn't follow the design of the front.
Lepatek also mentions it has a soft touch coating, if it's anything like the one on the Shinobi it will get sticky over time and all dust will be basically glued to the case.
Please come to Charlotte NC Microcenter grand opening in early 2024. Love this series!
Can micro center give home boy a raise , dude is in all vids and is a savage at the customer service
Love these vids! Come visit the Rockville Micro Center if you're ever going to Maryland!
nice choice in parts for this build, the only thing id do different is a amd gpu vs nvidia to utilize amd smart access memory etc
come down to denver..love the vids man
I really enjoyed this series!
It would be cool if there was a second bonus spin for cash that could only be spent on aesthetic/supplementary upgrades eg. better CPU cooler (AIO or tower cooler), more premium fans, sleeved cable extensions etc. Sort of like a 'Pimp My PC' thing. I can't speak for everyone, but for me, making a PC look cool is a big part of the PC building process.
man i wish the tech store employees in my country would be half as knowledgeable, motivated and friendly as izea, hope he gets a raise, he deserves it!
Kudos to you and Micro Center Greg for Season 2!
Bring on a third season and the end of the $800 curse 😂
It would be awesome if we could get before/after performance in season 3!
Would be difficult and very time-consuming. Would require an internet connection, standardized benchmarking suite (say, 3DMark), permission from each owner before/after, and much more time that we simply didn't have. Each of these took around 4-5 hours to film, and we were filming two per day within a 3 day span.
I commented the same thing on a different video. Completely understand why it’s not feasible though. It would be interesting if the winners posted even seat of the pants feelings in the comments.
would be pointless considering the 1060 and his build before was sufficient and no upgrade was needed,@@GregSalazar
When the user is tech savvy enough they could run a couple things before and after tbh
That was brilliant - a whole rig ( minus RAM) for $800 really isn't too bad at all! If you needed Wi-Fi later on down the line you could add a Wi-Fi/BT PCI-e adapter, these don't cost much... alternatively more RAM won't cost much either and 8GB DDR4 on the old build will still get you by if you're only doing light stuff.
This series is amazing, keep it comming! Also doing it in Micro Center is really awesome
I think this is the first time that the winner chose to build an almost new rig. What a way to spend his winnings.
this guy is so good. he could probably sell me a bag of broken nails and i would still walk away a happy customer
these are so fun to watch!
Come to Mozambique. . . Keep doing the good work
Tustin, CA Microcenter. I'm still rocking an Amd Ryzen 7 2700x with a 2000 series gpu. I definately think I could use an upgrade. You do good work Greg. Thank you.
I liked the Micro Center store. Here in the UK we've never had anything like that, the nearest was "PC World" but even they have all closed down now. Not a massive problem as everything available online but I'd certainly go to stores like this if we had them.
Come to Micro Center in Charlotte, NC when it opens next year!
Suggestion for the wheel: would be interesting if the weel choices had money + some specific part/specs like " 600$ + 4070" or "1000$ + 16 gigs of ram". And the parts could be exchanged for a lesser than it's worth monetary value if the contestant doesn't want it or has better ones in their system already.
And having the same spot of the wheel crossed out from being picked more than once would increase the variety.
Awesome build, I love how big of an upgrade he got, especially from that 1060 3gb. And come to Denver next, my roommate needs a new case, CPU cooler, GPU and power supply.
which he needed nothing of=a shit ton of E waste now.
@@dazzle4416 You'd be surprised. I have no problems giving away gawky and old cases that will still work for a build. There are always people that are trying to build a cheap Home Server of a Retro PC.
Very nice build! Sad too see this season coming to an end!
If I where Lyle I would buy a better memory kit. The one he has now is only 2133Mhz!
@Greg Salazar come to Georgia.. specifically the Marietta Micro Center location
09:57 I instantly knew this would cause the problem at the end 😂
That micro center employee needs a shout-out!! He's amazing!!
We need a micro center like that here in Portugal, for 800 getting a whole system like that is insane. We can´t even buy just that gpu for that price... The dude Isaiah is amazing btw, he is so nice. An example to follow!
I would love you to come to Denver!!
Wish there was a Microcenter in Toronto area here in Canada.
Dude, the 4060 is a fantastic card, period. It's gonna handle most titles at 1080p with ease.
Great build!
Great video as always, and great timing as well just booted my pc opened yt to have some content to eat with.
Please do the Tustin, CA microcenter!! Great video.
Really fun series. I would have went with a montech case to save money there.
My nearest Micro Center is Overland Park KS, which is 4hrs away... But i would definitely make the drive to meet you!
I wish you guys would come to Wichita KS because I really need an upgrade
always ready to watch your new vids Greg! :) Just joined your Discord server
Awesome, thank you!
Hey Greg! Been a fan of your channel for years. Was wondering if you'll ever come to the new Microcenter in Indianapolis and do this here? I'd like to enter my best friends pc as he's done a lot for me and the only nice thing in his rig is his gpu so it'd be an awesome susprise. Thank you for everything you do on your channel, I've learned most of the things I know about computers from you so I just wanted to say keep up the amazing work!
I had a rm850e and i absolutely dispice it! Annoying hearing the fan kicking in every so often. Swapped for a thermaltake 850w GF3. Is supper quiet.
You should totally do this at the Charlotte micro center when it opens next year! I live close bye and am looking to getting a job there when it opens :)
Omg you were in Houston?! I've been under a rock. I wish I could have met you.
wish Micro Center was in Seattle, so we could experience this.
Not sure what they had open box gpus and im sure hes super happy with his build, but I think id have checked the open box to see if they had a 6700xt or a 6900, not the latest gen but great value and would work great with that build
I wish we had a Micro Center here in the UK, would definatly be where i go to get my pc parts
*Yeah it sucks*
Best ever series
🙏
please come to the indianapolis store!! I will be there for sure!
9:58 shows the RAM seating issue. He even tried to push the clip into place instead of pushing down on the DIMM until it clicked. Greg, I am surprised you didn't catch this when it happened TBH.
Sweet build
Saw that ram issue a mile away 😂 but it turned out awesome. I have to stop myself from visiting microcenter on a daily. My guys there are awesome.
Just built 13900k from am3900X and they recommended kraken360.. I was dead set on Corsair 240 and gave nothing but headaches.. once I switched over to Kraken360, I've had no issues.
When I was actually watching the video, I saw that the ram wasn't seated all the way down, since the pin didn't lock by itself. But chalked it up to the mobo since some mobos even brand new ones have janky ram clips.
That happened to me alot of times before too. Back when I was afraid of hulk smashing the ram sticks into place.
So when are you coming to the Tustin, CA store?
It would be awesome to see this series to come to the "Cleveland" Micro Center at the Mayfield Heights store
