Wow, that was so interesting to hear how the screen works. I just recently got a Kindle (Paperwhite) this past Christmas. Prior to that, I was reading with the Kindle app on my phone or iPad. I absolutely love having a Kindle now! It's a game changer for me. The Oasis does sound nice with the buttons. I also love the fact that it's only an e-reader and nothing else. :) Good tip about the wireless charging! Great breakdown and chat about the Oasis!
Hello Sam, I have your same Oasis and like the page buttons a lot. Being older and now with vision challenges I also have a Scribe - which doesn’t feel unwieldy. The Oasis is in thin faux leather case that feels great; and the Scribe is in a thin clear plastic case that grips well. I only wish the Scribe had page-turn buttons as well. Thank you for the video… and “hi” to your son! ~Spike 🥸
I’m in Australia and I normally buy my Kindle at a store called Officeworks as they’re the only Kindle stockists. I just get too impatient to wait for Amazon postage. My question…do all official retailers do the trade in option? My Amazon (AU) does not have a trade in or “kids” Kindle packages.
I don't know if Amazon does it in every country, but they definitely do in the UK. I just bought a Kindle Scribe but I didn't trade in the Oasis as I wasn't sure I would like it.
I think it depends on what you want from your Kindle - I think if you want the premium feel and quality of an Oasis like I did then I would highly recommend it. The only negatives for the Oasis is that the battery is the worst in the lineup, and it has the old charger port.
I love my very old, very janky Kindle Paperwhite. It's perfect for the Unlimited subscription and for the variety of books I wouldn't be able to buy phisically for whatever reason (like availability or price) and the reading experience is still very good. But I love paperbacks and hardcovers, I guess that's my favorite way of reading 😅
I prefer a hardback if I have the choice, though a paperback is a very close second! I think I probably read at least one book a month on my Kindle, but it mostly gets used for indie books.
I am a physical reader, very rarely read a ebook and when I do I read it on my phone. Logically I think kindles etc are brilliant I just haven't made the jump yet - maybe one day
I use a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but instead of using the front camera so I can see what I'm filming I mirror my phone screen to my TV and then use the rear camera so I can get the best quality possible.
Sorry to disappoint you, but the back of the Oasis is plastic. There is a metal chassis inside it, however. Personally, I love the Oasis. I tried using my wife's Paperwhite and found it incredibly uncomfortable, whereas the ergonomic design of the Oasis is wonderful.
Hmmm! I have a 10th Gen and the silver paint on the back is wearing off, leaving pale plastic. It has an aluminium chassis, certainly, but the back cover is plastic. Maybe I was duped by Argos...@@Joe2theFACE

Thank you! I hear the new Paperwhite is amazing, I'm tempted to get a newer Kindle to try because I love gadgets!
Such a good video for such a small channel- and you have a very nice book, something i could fall asleep to- forget white noise!
Thank you so much! Even though I have a small channel and not a lot of viewers, I try to make good stuff that's useful and entertaining to my viewers.

Thank you for this. I finally decided to buy an Oasis
Glad I could help! Hope you like it as much as I do.
As someone that is relatively clueless when it comes to
e readers, I found this very interesting.
Thank you! I'm a big gadget nerd so I hoped that my inside knowledge would be useful.
@@SamHarrison2099 very!
I'm a proud Kindle Oasis owner. I do almost all my reading on it, though I've gotten into the habit of buying collectible hardcovers lately . . .
I love mine for Kindle Unlimited, and I will often get the physical and a kindle copy of a book so I can swap between for convenience!

@@SamHarrison2099would you still recommend purchasing the Oasis today despite it being a 2019 edition? I’ve currently got the 11th gen Paperwhite.

I think they serve a purpose - the best for me is Kindle Unlimited. So many incredible self-pub books on there.
@@SamHarrison2099 yes that is probably the most tempting aspect of the kindle to me at the moment
I love my oasis.. I bought the Beautiful champagne model at a cheaper price
Good choice!

That's interesting - because it feels just like metal!
I know. I thought it was until mine started losing the metallic sheen on the corners. I then saw one taken apart.

Only the first Oasis is plastic. The 2 and 3 both have an aluminum body.
