  • The March for Our Lives rally called for an end to school shootings. But in the city of Baltimore, gun violence remains an everyday threat for many kids. It’s been three years since Freddie Gray’s death in police custody spurred an uprising in the city’s most violent neighborhood. Chris travels there to meet a community outreach worker on a mission to prevent young people from becoming victims of gun violence.

      I live in Baltimore years still today,in my street there's alot of gun violence,drugs. Thats way many people die.I remember there was a house my neighborhood at the middle of the night i heard gun shots and someone's scream. It was known that someone was selling Drugs. And,the two men got mad so,the drug dealer pulled out a gun. And shot the man,and people who were witnesses said he laid dead on the floor his eyes rolling in the back of his head. I want to stop these violence in Baltimore im risking my life to go outside of my neighborhood. Im scared that my life will be taken with a pitty way. I just want it all away✊😞.

    I have been to Baltimore one time. I was walking around and guy pulled over and said, "I can tell you are not from around here. Tuck in your chain and find someplace to go. You are not safe here". LOL I did what he said. I am from one of the best areas in Minnesota. Not use to the east coast hood.

      I was just there for the night. We went looking for a local bar on foot and everyone gave us wrong directions. We ended up walking around for a couple hours. Once we did find a bar I said HI to someone and everyone looked at me like they wanted to kill me. Again, I am from Minnesota. We are Minnesota nice up here. It was such a different world. I didn't really like it much. I definitely did not fit in. I am use to saying hi to random people. It was quite the experience.

    Another great video by Beme, always great perspective and deeper information than usual. Akai has a great message and is doing great work, focusing on the violence and changing what is considered normal in his neighborhood. As a critique of how reporting bias can cause a divide in communities, I didn't know guns had "hands." Multiple times the term "in the hands of guns" was used when "died by the hands of people applying violence with a gun" would better describe the situations and not push people with other views away. We need to bring people together on this debate, not find ways to divide the opinions even further. Thank you for this video.

    You may need a gun for self defense, because the guy that might be attacking you might be stronger and quicker, so the only way to defend your self is to shoot. Cause if you don't have a gun on you for protection, the guy attacking you can just probably kill you like that.

    • @lubb213
      @lubb213 6 років тому

      If non of them had guns, the other guy probably wouldn't even be attacking you. If he did, you would get beat up at most, call the police and get him arrested. Instead, if both of you have a gun there's a high probability one of you is gon' end up dead.

    • @timmacc403
      @timmacc403 6 років тому +2

      Lucazzz you do realize that calling the police and having them arrested is easier said than done. If someone is breaking you would want to protect yourself and it is better to be armed and over prepared then to be unarmed and need something. Also this all can happen within a couple minutes if not seconds, so this would be over and the person would be gone minutes before the police are able to arrive. The closest police station is 15 minutes away from me so calling the police would do barely anything for me

    When are we going to realize that it's "Violent, Crazy People" and not the weapon they use. Good on Aki and the outreach for their work. The March for Our Lives groups are miss guided in their protest. It should have been directed at the authorities that had been warned in advance and didn't take any action that allowed that person to kill. Then again they would be protesting if they did take action and call the Authorities abusive...

    Baltimore, as small as it is compared to other cities in the country, used to be a beautiful and well liked place to visit, in large part because of the Chesapeake Bay seafood and its ports. Now, as much as I hate to say it, I wont step foot there, and especially after the riots and police were told to "stand down" to common trashy animals destroying property they would never have the manhood to pay for, which is not surprising when the last few mayors have been found corrupt, as well as the rest of the political figures there. Three things have to happen to clean up Baltimore. One, it has to be ruled with an iron fist, not political correctness which is ruining societies all over the country. Two, Drug "users" as well as sellers need to be run straight out of town, the sellers will be around as long as users are buying, if users keep getting locked up and paying hefty fines, they'll move elsewhere that's its easier to get. If this has to be done the old fashioned way, like France used to do, allow a red light district and allow crime there in order to keep it out of the better parts of the city, well fine. But simply put, cross those lines, youll join Freddie Gray and Michael Brown, and nobody will care. Three, The idealism that to be fair in Baltimore means thieves and killers deserve respect and understanding has to be exterminated. Respect is earned, and killers deserve the same as they gave, thieves and drug users can be locked up if you stop over crowding by executing killers that are warehoused for life, demanding rights they never cared about for the people they killed, and costing taxpayers money. Guns are not the problem, people are the problem, society has be warped since the 1960s when the first of mass shootings started, with no clue who the shooter was killing, they climbed and peaked since. Two major things happened to influence society in the 1960s, Civil Rights was formed and forced on many against it, and the drug culture was started by the hippies. Both were useless, civil rights are now used as a corrupt way to steal and over power legally, and drugs are killing and creating violence more than anything else on the planet, aside religion. Old school ways are the only thing that will stop this, why? You never seen this before the 1960s, because the fear of retaliation, possibly death was stronger than the drugs, which were not allowed to enter society as they are now.. Now, the drugs are still killing, and its worse because nobody can stop it because of political correctness. So, its a good example of what happens when brute force discipline is not enforced before things go so far. Spare the rod, spoil the child. Now days the child is addicted to drugs by age 12 to 13, and will kill you. This is from lack of discipline, period.....

    Hmm...... Baltimore one has to wonder why gun violence is so high there. Surely the guns are to blame. I couldn't possibly be due to demographics.

    Great vid, but no need to politicize the issue. Guns don't fire themselves, people do. Using statements such as "x amount were killed by guns" is a politically correct euphemism that detracts from the underlying issue that there is a deep economic and social problem in the city: fatherless homes, broken infrastructure, food insecurity, low expectations, educational neglect, etc. The problem is complex for sure but the violence is never going to end until we restore civil competition for jobs and resources.

      Robier dont you think that if we know who obtained a gun legally, will be easier to find out who owns a gun illegally. Dont be simple, read. Its good.

      Illegal guns become a lot harder to come by and a lot more expensive if they are not available. He bought an illegal gun for 25$ because every adult in America can buy a gun nearly as easily as buying a beer or a car

      TheWaross you definitly never bought a gun legally

    • @TheWaross
      @TheWaross 6 років тому +2

      That's right. Because my country is not backward enough so I don't need one. I'm thinking of starting hunting so I might consider buying one. Btw, buying a car and driving it has more steps than buying a gun. Fact.
      "But buying a gun comes with a background check, bla bla, hurr durr".
      That's not the question here. What I'm saying is that since you can easily obtain guns in the states, they circulate a lot more and can be sold illegaly easily, which drives the price on the black market down. Fact
