This film has been a favorite of mine for many years. In fact I like it so much a have it on dvd. Glad you enjoyed it. In your reviews, you might want to talk more about camera work, lighting, choices the director and his cinematographer make on angles, lighting, closeups, etc. Or perhaps not. I was a theater/film student and then worked in the Industry for many years. And, of course, I've taught film classes. So these things are very interesting to me. If this is not in your background but you'd like to know more, you can't do better than Orson Wells and his Citizen Kane cinematographer Gregg Toland. Also cinematographer James Wong Howe's work. Without a good cinematographer, one doesn't have a good film. However, each and every job/aspect of a film is important - lighting, makeup, costuming, sets, producers, acting styles. Let me recommend a couple of films to you. One is "The Stuntman" - hard to get a copy as it was tied up in legal battles for years but very worth it. Another is Metropolis - the silent German classic. Another is a great Film Noir - He Walked By Night. As you can see, I'm into Black and White films a lot. They often get ignored by those who are only use to color, but B/W has abilities to take the plot along that color can't match and I believe that all lovers/students of film need to appreciate it as do those who work in the Industry. Good luck, Mitch. Hope you do well.

Thanks so much - I’ll definitely look at those! You’re definitely right about being a student of it - I’d have had so much more to say about the visuals - it’s why I always mention average movie lover - but I try to bring movies like this to the front as people seem to forget stuff before now and shouldn’t ♥️ thank you for your view and comment

A good review, and you covered nearly everything. I like your idea of how perhaps more clocks should've been present, to show Kindler's obsession even more. I'm an audio dramatist and I've adapted this film for audio performance -- got all the voices recorded and I'll be producing it soon -- that's how much I like the movie. I read that Welles didn't want Robinson in the role of Wilson, because he wanted to cast a woman -- specifically, Agnes Moorehead. But the studio wanted a man, and a big name, so Robinson was cast. Don't get me wrong, he's terrific as Wilson, but for my adaptation I went with Orson's wishes and cast a woman.
