Absolutely love this video, there are so many references and parodys in it, most of which you probably wouldn't know as you're from the USA. The flying bit with the snowman is taken from the movie "The Snowman" where a boy makes a snowman that comes to life and they fly to the north Pole to the song "we're walking in the air" which was released as a Christmas single in the UK. The boy has ginger hair, wears a brown robe and blue and white striped pyjamas, just like in the video. There's several UK celebrities in the video, the guy with the multi neck guitar is in a band called the darkness, who had a Christmas single years ago. The guy playing the clarinet next to him is the lead singer from the same band. The scene with the white winter coats features Jonathan ross and Michael Mcintyre who are a UK TV host and stand up comedian respectively. That scene itself is a parody of a music video called "stay another day" by East 17, which is another big UK Christmas song. So many other references and parodys, which would take ages for me to explain. 😂
Hello Jacob, I've just subbed to your channel. Great review to a fantastic song. Ed and Elton are my 2 favourite singers right now, especially Ed. His music is totally awesome. Thanks for the review btw. It really is a brilliant song. 👍👍👍
All the sets are a nod to classic Christmas videos. Steve Mac (the producer) is the man in the sombrero. The big bells were Elton's idea - the more the better!
Thank you!! I knew I recognised the man in the giant sombrero but I couldn't place him. Thought it may have been Brian Harvey but he's skinnier than that as far as I know.
Great Reaction! I loved Equals and I loved this. Elton John was awesome in this too. 5 Seconds of Summer just released a new song today as well called 2011. I would love to see you react to it!
I liked the song and the big production video. They wanted to do something fun and they did! You're right about Elton's collaborations helping to make him more relevant. But it was Frank Sinatra who started that trend. When his career was waning Sinatra did an album of collaborations with current artists that went to the top of the charts. Then he did another. You might want to check some of those out for fun.
The what was that moment was a nod to LadBaby who have had the last three UK Christmas No 1s with parady songs, it was a flying suasage roll. 2018 We Built this City (on Sausage Rolls) 2019 I Love Suasage Rolls 2020 Don't Stop me Eatin'
Ed’s wife Cherry was sitting on the right side wearing sky blue dress at the end where everyone was singing !
Love that

Besides the Beatles, there’s never been an album run like Elton had from 1970-1976. Check it out.
