Still boggles the mind that this was not a massive hit! One of the strongest singles that Duran has released in years! The universe missed big time on this one! Well played boys!
I could tell you why. It took them many months AFTER the song was released to make and then have it available to markets around the world to see it. By then, all momentum in the song was long gone. Just another Duran stuff up, as they were never even going to bother making one at all. The video should have been done first! Then, next single was left to die again as well.
It was a hit, on billboard it peaked at #10 in album sales. It was their biggest album in 22 years according to Billboard. Nile Rogers helped them a ton with this song, Ronson helped a lot as well. Odds are Warner Brothers will give them another album after the success of this one. Even this song made the top 40 - the first time since Astronaut and "Sunrise." www.billboard.com/music/duran-duran/chart-history/adult-pop-songs/song/916920
The way music is marketed and consumed is much different since the 80's and 90's. This would be a massive hit in terms of sales in the 80's as a single, that is no doubt.
John is a bass monster ... such a studied ear for many genres. He plays exciting and expansive lines that always enhance and sit well in the overall mix. He and Roger and a real rhythm section together. Dynamic.
It is just a fantastic composition and played so very well by all the group! Being a bassplayer at 73, "The Syncopator"@John Taylor, is locked in on this groove even in covid 2020!
This performance in a tighter stage set is really exciting to see. Anna and the other backup singer (sorry!) are total pros ... their harmonies and choreography really add to an already full package of sight and sound. Duran Duran ... my favorite!
Happy Holidays, to the #1 Band in the entire world, Duran Duran. I heard on the news tonight that Ringo Star was knighted by the Queen today. That's nice, but in all fairness, Roger Taylor is the #1 Drummer in the world. Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes should all be Knighted by the Queen as Sir, they have earned this title in their career. #1 and always will be. xx
Happy New Year Duran Duran. Hope you have an awesome new year. Keep on rocking and doing what you do. You guys are rock royalty and don't you ever forget it. 🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈🎉🎈
But, it was their first Top 40 hit on Billboard since Sunrise, and the album was the highest charting album in 22 years. So they got a lot of new fans with this album. www.billboard.com/music/duran-duran/chart-history/adult-pop-songs/song/916920
Sam S don't get me wrong Sam I love the album . But to me pressure off is a poor remixed version of the reflex by nile Rogers. It's Average . Rest of the album is brill .specially with bonus tracks
Got it. Makes sense. It is a strong album. They need hits like this to keep going however as if the masses don't like a song, they cannot make enough money to continue. Nile Rodgers had a heavy influence as his guitar work is what he brought to them and they built a song around it. It is what he does - Daft Punk's Get Lucky got the same benefit (or detriment, if you don't like his work). I liked the whole album including this song as Duran Duran has worked with Nile Rodgers a few times over the years and it has brought them hits every time (but yes, it is a little like Reflex and Notorious).
Respect to you Sam. One things for sure if you get duran Duran we are blessed .I'm a fan from 1981 .seen them at least 13 times .I'm Manchester uk . Also was at villa park in 1983 .They've given me so much pleasure over the years ... I couldn't thank them enough
Agreed Davied. I only got to see them once - when they first got back together and they still had Andy Taylor - when Astronaut came out. They performed in Times Square for Good Morning America. Since I worked close by back then, I walked over and got to see them sing Reflex, Hungry Like the Wolf, and finishing up with "Sunrise" which at the time was charting at #13 in the Top 40. I just cannot believe that this album was their highest charting album in 22 years as in the USA it launched at #10.
The jeans have nothing to do with how the band sounds or performs. Close your eyes and listen to the music if your eyes are so offended. It has always been about the music, as it should be.
Tigers eye, I never said anything about their sound. Visualization has always gone with their sound. I'm just saying Simon has been wearing those same horrible white jeans in every live clip for the past two years. That's it.
Hey I had a pair of jeans like that but, have you ever thought he might just feel comfortable in them and for his age we oldtimers take comfort over style anytime.
what on earth was all that tinkering around with Mark Ronson all about ? They did this with Justin Timberlake ...These people will never be a part of Duran Duran and to honest its toe curling seeing how the band react towards these guys . I can fully understand why Andy Taylor threw the towel in
I just wanna hear Simon sing Duran's songs....so plz don't make a song like this....Sorry, I don't like this song at all. As a long-term fan, I really appreciate the last album. Will you please bring back Mark Ronson to make the next one? He, as a DD fan, really knows what we want to hear......just my 2 cents.....
They need new fans to keep going and make new music - this was a way to do it. It was their first top 40 hit since "Sunrise" and the album was the highest charting album in 22 years for them. www.billboard.com/music/duran-duran/chart-history/adult-pop-songs/song/916920

Who would think a band would make one of their best songs this far in their career?
It is just a fantastic composition and played so very well by all the group! Being a bassplayer at 73, "The Syncopator"@John Taylor, is locked in on this groove even in covid 2020!
This gets played almost daily when I'm driving, I'm sure I get to places faster. Ronson filling some big boots splendidly.
Remember when Simon was quoted as saying, "I've an agile mind running around over rocks all the time!" hee heee many many many moons ago....
Excellent! Glad to see they are still going strong in 2017. I've been a fan since the beginning.
Mark Ronson and Nile Rodgers...can’t go wrong. Great song
this is one of their best songs in recent years. It seems it just went under the radar
This performance in a tighter stage set is really exciting to see. Anna and the other backup singer (sorry!) are total pros ... their harmonies and choreography really add to an already full package of sight and sound. Duran Duran ... my favorite!
This entire record is amazing.
Duran Duran is awesome. Simon is magnificent. This song is sublime.
Great live set!! Love the break-down in the middle. I noticed Ronson trying to look over and absorb everything that JT is doing. Brilliant stuff.
Best band in the world!!! True legends!!!

Robbie Williams I quite agree, why have they not!!!
It's not just about how good a musician is but all the achievements they have made throughout their lives. Not saying I don't agree with you.
John Taylor- "The Syncopator"!! Best bass line ever!!!!
Bloody excellent
Love the bass on this. I've always like John Taylor as a bassist!
Love this song. And I love the black, white, and red coordinating stage outfits, it's giving me old school Duran vibes.
I've loved Duran Duran for sooooo long
They are the best.

02/02/2020
2019?
Quiero ver madona y duran duran andrea elizabeth garcia altamirano
Oh worm?? Thanks
Lástima... No se logra ver claramente a los protagonistas en el escenario con esos videos de fondo!!!
Pero ya viste lo joven q se ve John en el video original? el blanco y negro les favorece a todos, especialmenmte a John y Nick
This song is one of their best, but Simon in this live performance has a tired voice. I saw them about 5 years ago and they were alive and kicking.
Did no one tell Le Bon that horizontal stripes make you look fat?
JT looks about 28 yrs there; weird
Anna Ross looking as fit as usual .pressure off is a bit reflexy and not the best track on paper Gods album
But, it was their first Top 40 hit on Billboard since Sunrise, and the album was the highest charting album in 22 years. So they got a lot of new fans with this album. www.billboard.com/music/duran-duran/chart-history/adult-pop-songs/song/916920

Simon! Those white jeans.... please retire them. Other than that, flawless. 🤗

Those jeans are the 99% of the show ahahahahhaahah

Duranies are ever considered "old timers

Simon va a perder la voz muy pronto...
