A fast way to smooth styrofoam is go outside and rub it on the concrete sidewalk. It's like 80 grit and a large flat surface all in one. And don't be afraid to use the vibrating sander on those curves that file work looked painfully slow.

i wonder if you could make an anvil that light without losing hardness i mean if the thing was hollow maybe but without the weight it would move around idk maybe you could come up with something?

Anyone carving foam is cringeworthy to me now; too many memories carving in my old shop. I like using hot wire for a lot of the initial shaping, but to each their own and use what tools you have. Your final product looked great.

It never ceases to amaze me what you and Jimmy create. Genius! Pure Genius! Every time I watch you guys build some wonderful thing, I take a gift of that genius. Using the spray can to sand a radius, things like that. Simple yet so functional and thrifty. UA-cam would be crap without you guys! My grandkids are coming to stay with us for two weeks and I can't wait to freak them out with all the cool stuff you guys have taught me! Its going to be grand!

I simply dont get this. You made a foam anvil for what purpose? All that time and effort in doing something in a horribly inefficient way to make what I'm guessing is just a decorative item? Do you realize you could have used the just the foam core to make an actual anvil? I'm guessing this must be some hipster build retro art project because I just cant understand why someone would put that much time and energy into something as useless as a foam anvil.
