They changed the game when they came "out of the blue" in the early 2Ks. Their song called "Heart In A Cage" has a powerful guitar riff, dope drums, groovy bassline, and hopeless vocals and lyrics. The video is excellent as well. Take a look at that, I'm sure it will blow your mind at the first second. Cheers!

I'm glad you finally made it back to The Strokes. They are one of my all time favorite bands. You really can't go wrong with anything off their first 5 albums. Their new album is a bit different but it's growing on me. They way Julian sings now compared to back then is very different. His singing range has progressed massively and he sounds more polished. I'd recommend "The adults are talking" from their newest album. As much as I love their early stuff, his vocals on the new album are arguably some of his best.
I miss the days of indie/garage rock dominating the charts. I was 7 when this song came out, and it was just when I was starting to pay more attention to music, so bands like The Strokes, The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, The Hives, The Coral, The Fratellis, Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight etc. were a big part of my childhood. In fact the first album I ever bought was Franz Ferdinand's self-titled debut, with some of the money I got on my 10th birthday.

Their discography is quite the experience and I wish I could go back to hearing most of the songs again. I was truly changed after listening to some of their work and remember being blown away by some of the lyrics and themes. Nothing is like it.
