Description:
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a remastered compilation of the video games in the Mass Effect trilogy: Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3. It is being developed by BioWare with assistance from Abstraction Games and Blind Squirrel Games, and published by Electronic Arts. All three games were remastered, with visual enhancements, technical improvements, and gameplay adjustments. Mass Effect, the first game of the trilogy, has received more extensive upgrades than its counterparts, specifically with regard to combat mechanics, vehicle handling, and loading times.
Development on the Legendary Edition remasters commenced in 2019 under the direction of Mac Walters. Although BioWare initially considered other alternatives, they ultimately decided to approach the project as a remaster as opposed to a remake in order to preserve the original trilogy experience. The compilation was announced on November 7, 2020, and released on May 14, 2021 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
The compilation also includes almost all single-player downloadable content (DLC) that was originally released for each game, such as promotional weapons, armors, and packs. Set in the Milky Way galaxy within an alternate universe during the 22nd century, the trilogy consists of action role-playing games in which the player assumes the role of Commander Shepard, an elite human soldier who must unite the galactic community against an impending threat. Shepard is a customizable character whose morality is determined by the player, and during each game, the player makes choices that can impact the story in various ways. These choices and consequences can be carried forward through the trilogy.

What I’m learning from this game is that the universal gesture for being emphatic is slapping your hand with your fist.
You start to notice how they stitch together multiple animation sequences together during dialogue. It's actually impressive how often you see the same motions, but it feels appropriate to the dialogue and it blends in relatively well. The fist slap really does stand out though
Haha yeah xD
Back in 2007 it was groundbreaking.
I remember getting the game shortly after release when I was like 17 and it blew me away. Before ME1 we only ever had the 'vague random head bobbing and hand waving loop' like in KotoR or the 'stares at camera' variety seen in Oblivion. If they had dialogue animations at all.
But yeah, it didn't age well and over the course of the game the comparatively low number of individual animations becomes apparent. *fist slap* *hand wring* *eyebrow raise*
The accuracy cost basically means that once you use that ability or fire that weapon, the crosshairs will take some time to properly center again. The higher the accuracy cost, the longer time it will take the crosshairs to center.
This, but since in Legendary Edition the "crosshair" is tighter and more forgiving than in the original, the accuracy cost of abilities is also less impactful and you can safely ignore it for the most part.
This is true the original game had Severe accuracy penalties for untrained weapons and for right after you use an ability. A weapon like a sniper rifle for example was practically unusable until you got about halfway down the sniper skill bar. Prior the little circle that is your aiming reticle would dramatically increase in circumference for every shot taken, while moving, and after ability use. Under the hood "dice" would be rolled to determine where in that ever-growing Circle your shot would hit. This new system seems to be 95% more forgiving, the fact that you have been headshoting in people without any skill in sniper rifles or skills spector training made me realize how much more skill-based they made the gun-play. taking a knee and leveling the required weapon ability was the only way to shrink the the circle basically giving you a plus whatever to hit. What you're looking at in the Spectre tree is basically saying it decreases your penalties for actions that would penalize your hit chance.
Gotcha, kinda weird system but at least I understand now xD
Not to say Spectre training is useless now. It still has a lot of useful functions basically a team heal never remember correctly bonuses to Paragon and Renegade dialog checks.
Also I noticed that you you seem rather disappointed about your Vanguard only wearing light armor. You have yet to put any points into the assault training skill which will unlock the medium armor.
@@LivingSun It was basically back in the day when Bioware still hadn't fully committed to the shooter-based ARPG trend and the game was still very stat based in some regards.
Which led to vanilla ME1's abysmal gunplay, so eeeh.
Anderson sent you to admiral Kahoku to ask about Banes and you didn't. For christ's sake man, you had one job!!! 😂
Shepard: Admiral Kahoku, I need something from you, and I'm not leaving until I get it.
Kahoku: Can you do me a favor and go across the galaxy to find some of my buddies?
Shepard: Oh .... okay.
Rip, did I miss a dialogue option?
Yes but I think you can talk to him again about banes but I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I played the game😃
I love the elevator banter. Thats why I hardly used the fast travel option. BTW, when you revisit the Citadel, talk to the other Avina terminals. They all have different things to tell you about the area they are located.
Yeah it's great haha :D will do
For wearing heavier armor, you have to unlock the ability through the tactical armor branch.
Will do :)
In case you didn't catch it, the gentleman early in the episode that you helped to retrieve the wife's body for - she served in the same unit as Ashley. One of the cool things about this game is you get tons of sidequests and if you happen upon them with the right people in your squad you'll get even more info about who or what is happening.
The quest is also nice in that it's a straightforward opportunity to separate the outcome (return body vs. science!) from your "morality score" based on your approach. Both the husband and the alliance representative can be convinced to back-down (you can go back to Bhatia and tell him his wife's body is too important to return right away) but you'll need to use Charm/Intimidate options to do so, and your choice of approach determines your "reward" w.r.t. Paragon/Renegade points, but not necessarily change the outcome (which can effect later events or even later games). Some people do remember you being a jerk to them, but in many cases you can resolve the situation either way, and still gain your choice of Paragon or Renegade score from it.
Not all quests work this way, certain outcomes are considered fundamentally Paragon or Renegade (and are scored that way), but there are actually quite a few chances in the game to act like a mean jerk, but still do the "Right Thing (TM)", or be a nice guy where your decision results in horrible consequences distinct from the chosen approach.
@@cookie_of_nine Great point, I'm sure wed all love more decisions to be like that one as opposed to obvious good choice vs bad. Still though, we get enough in these games for ME to be true gems.
Ah yeah that's cool :)
This is where the fun begins- some dude from a movie
Yay :D
Tali uses a shotgun because she's a krogan at heart lol
Haha xD
I think the Dr. Michel quest is meant to be done later in the game when you have more Paragon/Renegade points. New quests will open up in the Citadel as you progress through the main story and some require a higher level to resolve peacefully.
Some of the side quests are meant for higher levels but they don’t have any level caps in this game for questing.
Yeah probably, I'll hold off on doing some until later
@@LivingSun If you don't mind taking your time and exploring, there are lots of other side quests out there on the galaxy map that can give you additional xp and morality points. Some of them also tie into plots of later games, so it's definitely worth checking things out.
I heavily recommend doing the side missions. They are great for lore and they can have impact on the story of the game
I have been in these very videos haha :P
First thing I see of your blind play through: team of Tali and Garrus. Glad to see you already drawn to the series’ best trio.
Haha nice xD
I can honestly say I didn't expect this video to end focusing on Shepard's codpiece! 😉
Lmaooo xD
You forgot one crucial part of the Randy Pitchford story: He left the porn USB at a Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament.
Ah yes xD
If you have Ash in your party she knew Samesh's wife and there is a nice exchange between both of them. Nothing major but I always liked those little details
Yeah those details are awesome! I was told Fist would have lived if Wrex wasn't in my squad earlier lol
Don't fear, you haven't put any points into assault training so you haven't unlocked the ability to wear medium armor yet.
Definitely gonna do that lol
If you level-up Assault Training, you can unlock Medium Armor for yourself. That goes for most people. For Heavy Armor, Ashley, Garrus, and Wrex can all train to wear it but they start as Medium Armor only.
Will do :)
Anderson's backstory is quite tragic if you think about it, he was so close to be the first human spectre, bringing glory to human kind, just to be ruined by Saren, then, almost 20 years later, he is forced to give his ship to you and watch Saren go away, pretty sad
Yeah sad times :(
HAHAHAHAHA The Randy Pitchford reference 😂😂😂😂
Instantly I was reminded of Jim Sterling’s ‘Randy Pitchford is poison’ video it’s so funny 😂😂😂
Lmao xD can't believe that happened
Make sure you talk to everyone on the ship after every mission ;)
Will do :)
It's just a tip, but I highly recommend going to the Artemis Tau Cluster first. Also, talking to your crew before/after every mission is really going to worth it in the long run. And, you *can* wear medium armor, you just need to unlock it.
Loving the episodes, have fun!
Remember I am well ahead of the uploads, the decision on where to go first was made a while ago lol
Haven't looked yet but I'm praying you played through the trilogy is similar fashion, absolutely love the way you play this game!!
Mass Effect 1 is always tricky for first time players to figure out where to put skill points (and I won't spoil things with tips). But you get a lot of points quickly in the early levels so its easy to correct as you play and see what you need.
Yeah I'm loving how often I get to level up lol that feels nice
the "charm" options opened up when Shepard became a specter so no, you couldn't put more there :)
Rip, just impossible to pass that speech check at that point then I guess
Most people you don't have to keep going to people to see if they have something new the say, the exception are people on your ship. Other companions may have insight or things to say about the last mission you went on, so after any real mission i would go around checking on everyone to see if they have any new information. Otherwise if people have quests they should show up on the map, mini or full.
Since you are playing on normal it isn't a huge deal but in terms of your squads abilities, think of it like additional abilities for you, If you intend on letting them use powers on their own they may not be terribly effective. You are a commander after all, so commanding them to use specific abilities against specific foes is kinda your job :P
Also don't forget you have other crewmembers, Ashley can be trained to use heavy armor so you could have kept the heavy armor you bought for her
47:51 oh right one more thing, notice how Tali says "huh" randomly? if a companion does that they have something to say about the area, idk if they repeat themselves or not but usually a time to talk to that companion to get a short little quip.
Good to know :)
@@Darthmufin That would've been nice to know.
The Council is annoying right? I mostly run Paragon on most of my playthroughs but I sometimes can't help choosing some renegade responses when talking to them. I get some satisfaction when my Shepard talks back to them lol
Haha yeah they're nooooot great xD
Fun fact: Anderson's past history with Saren is a reference to the book 'Mass Effect Revelations', which actually was released before the game itself and served as a prequel of sorts to it. I listened to the audio book version of it a while ago and remember enjoying it quite a bit.
My favourite part is probably this piece of dialogue between Saren and Anderson when they first meet.
Saren: "I have two rules. One: never kill someone without a reason."
Anderson: "What's the second rule?"
Saren: "You can always find a reason to kill someone."
That's cool :) haha interesting quote xD
"I can't remember" ah there is the classic sun we know and can get frustrated with sometimes lol
Lmao
This is the only tip you'll receive from me, the reasons the paragon speech options are blacked out is because you need to level up your Charm.
Shame that you can get stuff like that when my charm was maxed out at that point, so it was literally impossible to hit that speech check then
@@LivingSun charm thresholds change with paragon. If you get more paragon points more charm unlocks
I was waiting for this. Then I need to sleep. :) Thanks for uploading every day.
You're welcome dude! :D
Council: "Spectres are not trained, but chosen. Individuals forged in the fires of battle... The embodiment of courage, determination and self-reliance..."
Shepard: "Yeah, I'm gonna bring along a bunch of people you don't know, and who I only recently met myself. Sound good?"
I'm still loving this. Just a funny thought.
;) 👍
Haha lol that is a valid point xD
I mean, if a spectre vouches for them it bodes well for said strangers right?
There is a novel about cpt. Anderson's mission with Sarren. It's really good fui
Ah nice
Electronics is used for overrides to open containers in the various maps you'll be going through.
This may have already been said, but I figured that I'd say it anyways
Indeed haha
@13:00; Without going into detail, you generally won't have to worry about getting locked out of Citadel sidequests. I think, technically, there's a few quests where you can be locked out of completing them, but...If you're cool returning multiple times, you'll likely get them all.
Using the Keeper Scanning quest as an example - you might very well encounter quests rather uniquely as well.
Will definitely be returning :)
A thing to consider: the armor and shield perks are percentage-based, so their effectivity will never drop off.
Also, the Paragon options are (obviously) locked behind the Charm skill, which in turn is locked behind your Paragon bar. You would've had to do more other stuff and used Paragon choices to develop it further before tackling that specific dialogue. It's no biggie in that case, though.
Noice
Noooooo! It ended too soon! I wanted to get onto the ship.
Haha next time! :P
You can unlock medium armour by specing into your armour skill tree.
Will do
Ah man, that keeper you found around 20:13 was the last one I found. Felt like I walked through the whole Citadel about 4 times but I just always failed to notice him.
Oh no haha xD
Accuracy Cost . . . causes your guns to be less accurate for a second or two after using the power. Your aiming reticle will get much larger making it hard to hit targets.
Ahhh okay makes sense, thanks :D
love the commentary hope you do as many side quests as you can max out your xp accumulation
Thanks :D I am :)
HOLY SHIT I’ve played this game for like 1000+ hrs i never knew about the blackmail at the clinic
Lol cool that there's still new stuff to find!
This game was always some good squanch.
Lmao
Damn I’ve played me1 like 4 times or more and there’s still so many interactions and a couple side quests I haven’t seen before
Awesome :D
medium amour can be unlocked in the skill tree, dont know if you already figured that out, but incase you havent you can take a look
Will do :)
You don't have to do all the citadel quests at the same time, you can come back any time.
Yup that's why I'm leaving the Keeper one for now :)
I'd highly reccomend upgrading your pistols to unlock shotguns. The carnage ability is essentially a slug fired from the shotgun that even has some minor area of effect damage.
It also multiplies the damage the shot will do based on the total damage of the shotgun, I think it starts a 50 percent extra damage, then upgrades to 100 percent?
...
Do these kind of comments count as spoilers? I'm sorry if they do, please let me know!
I mean it's not really spoilers, but it is stuff that I've already done ages ago lol so I'd advise catching up on the playthrough first :P
Some sidequests are developed to be done "later" in the game if you wish to unlock enough Paragon/Renegade points to level up so you can use these options. I mean you already completed ME1 but for the future, eh? And yeah, you have to level Shep's Armour skill for Medium Armour.
Haha yeah
Ah yes, "Reapers"...
Reapers indeed
See you're getting on well with your new bosses so far ;)
Oh yeah, love em :P
Accuracy cost means your bloom will be bigger after using the ability and you will be less accurate. That's how it worked in the original.
Gotcha, cheers :)
14:00 lmao😂😂😂
I play mostly on paragon, but sometimes you just want to shoot an ahole.
Haha xD
I think you get an 45 % accuracy penalty while shooting and or using aimed powers while Unity recharges...i think
Sad times
Last comment here. I just find it hilarious that you didn't even talk to Admiral Kohoku about Banes
I do later I think haha
Man, I wish they'd make another Star Wars RPG, like KOTOR
Haven't played that one haha
15:48 Well, no, you have not :) But this is blind LP so you can't really be expected to. My first playthrough was filled with grayed out options :) It's just the nature of a first playthrough, and imo a big part of what makes it special.
I meant that at this point I had entirely maxed out my charm level, it could not go higher until I became a Spectre, and yet this was still greyed out
@@LivingSun It can go higher without becoming a spectre. Increasing your paragon rating will also unlock new ranks of charm at certain set intervals.
@@LivingSun And just to be really, really clear, I am not in any way complaining, or think you should have done more to make sure you had enough paragon points, I mean, how could you know? :)
You returned to ask about Banes and forgot to do it immidiatly, i can't be more surprised.
Also recomendation to talk to the crew, You can miss dialogué and interactions if you don't talk to them.
I talk to them quite a lot :)
Tech and/or biotic characters seem to favor shotguns
Seems like it haha
In games it's pretty common for engineers to carry shotguns in games. Usually for their association to being tank drivers. If you need to shoot someone as a tank/vehicle driver, it would be best to use a close range powerhouse.
That and pistols.
Different brands of armor and weapons vary in quality - Onyx armor sucks, so even an IV will be kind of shitty.
Rip Onyx
The cord to my earphones disliked this video, a better advertisement for wireless earphones is hard too find. I hopfully removed the dislike before anyone noticed :)
Lmao rip xD
Question, Sun: Are you gonna play this game again, and do all the sidequests and stuff? I wanna know how much you're gonna play this this general. Partially because I wanna beat it while doing as much as possible and compare times. However, about two hours was idle time accidentally leaving the game on, so there's that.
I'm doing pretty much all the side quests I come across haha, but no I definitely won't be doing second playthroughs, my backlog of games is like 100 games long so I never have time to play things twice
Some of the paragon dialogue is really cringey. Sucks that players miss out if they stay neutral.
I totally agree . . . I prefer to play using a mix of paragon/neutral/renegade options. It makes for a more rounded and realistic experience.
Haha a little
Are you absolutely sure it’s nice
I am 100% it's very nice
Wtf you seem familiar, have we met????
@@Lena-di2ln holy shit is amongus person!! how nice to meet you here 😁
@@Lucas44826 pls that part of my life is behind me ;-;
@@Lena-di2ln you cannot run from your past lena.
Again no codex bro, my favorite part is gone again :(
As I have said a few times in the videos, codex reading happens at the end of a session. As you can see at the end of this part it is not the end of a session and carries straight on into the next part, so there's no codex here
@@LivingSun Ahhh okay, I though you are reading this after every episode, and just forget. Can't wait, the lore is amazing :D
Still can´t stand Udina!
Me neither lol
You swear too much but I'm really enjoying this.
Haha xD
