@@pushpatterns I didn't notice I also need whatever cable you use to go to the vca back to push 3 as I cannot calibrate it. So I also need a long 3.5 mm TS jack to 6.3 mm TRS plug? I'm new to this. I think it's cool that my filter will help make the note I guess being used as subtractive filtering?
@@pushpatterns Would you know why it seems the #5 pitch "out" cable going into Volt/oct is making a high pitch squeal preventing me from tuning down to C3? Someone told me to see if there is a way to lower the voltage coming out of that #5 cable?
This is really interesting and the very first “user friendly” application of the CV tools. The video mentions links below for those cables that go in the pedal jack but I can’t see it.
The only issue I'm having at this point is getting my Standalone to be fully "standalone" with modular. I was directed to this video from the Ableton Forums and was hoping it would cover ONE additional item -- how do you get that CV calibration BACK into the Push for Standalone function? I'm told it can be saved as a preset and transferred in that way, and while the process was loosely discussed on the forum, the process was not made clear. I can get CV pitch, but it's going through 5 octaves higher. For reference, I'm using the expression pedal outs to send a clock to my drum module and three cloock-synced LFOs to other modules, and 8 channels of Pitch/Gate (4 of each) out via ADAT. Connected to my laptop, it's GREAT, but in standalone, it's always +5 octaves. Would you have any suggestions? Thanks.
That's a frustrating issue! It seems like you've hit a common roadblock with Push Standalone and CV calibration. Unfortunately, I have found that the only way to calibrate is to do it in controller mode, save the Live set, transfer it to standalone, and then proceed from there. Have you tried that?
@@pushpatterns - sorry I missed this. Yes, I have tried (in Controller mode) saving the calibration in the Live set, but every ime I have attempted it (including doing "Collect All and Save" with all options checked), I get an error saying some files weren't copied over. An issue could be that I've been using the latest beta versions of 12 Suite on both laptop and P3S. The only successful accounts I've read have been users of Live 11 - I wonder if that may have something to do with it.
@@marvk7210 mmm, I would suggest trying this with a blank set containing only the modular calibration to see if the issue might be within your actual live set.
@@pushpatterns That is an EXCELLENT idea, because there is a distinct possibility the issue could be with the Live Set. I'll report back if it works. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hello! Thanks for the informative video. It's helped a great deal in getting my push to function with my modular setup. I do have a quick question though, are you able to forego the pedal setup and send midi/cv info straight to the ES-8 through ADAT?
Hey! Thanks, glad you found the video useful! Yep you can just send the audio and CV signals to start coming out output 9 onwards and bypass the Jack outputs on the Push.
Hi. Thanks for this great informational video. Sending CV via outputs, getting sound back via inputs. What is ADAT doing here? I think it is connected between ES-8 and Push. But what is the role? Regards sir.
Hey! Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. The ADAT connecting is between the ES8 and it is send and additional 8 cv outputs from the Push 3 and reviving an additional 4 audio inputs.
Hey there i just got my push and was wondering, you said you re-route out of modular rack back into push-3. Do you have to use push 3 interface to use modular or can you still send cv in controller mode and go out into your preferred interface? Thanks man. Love your content.
No you don’t have to use the push as an audio interface. You can just use it as the controller, but you will need to connect it via midi/usb to ensure it’s synced with your daw project tempo
@@pushpatterns hey thanks for getting back to me your awesome. Now can i follow the same step or will i have to go into a midi to cv module in order to use push for pitch and trigger gate? Sorry to ask so many questions by the way.
Nope it’s the same way, one thing is they recommend the outputs of your audio interface are DC coupled this enables it to send out cv messages and audio. But I also tried on just a regular interface e and it worked fine 😊
Did you ever get to the bottom of the thing with the pad vertical position holding at the value when you let go of the pad? Super annoying when playing with a filter!
Although I have tried many, many times, I have not been able to make the CV Tools Instrument preset work. However, the CV Instrument with no presets works just fine with this setup. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, is there a reason why the gate and pitch were switched around in this demo?
Hey! first thing to check is you have set the outputs to be CV outs and not trigger? I had a weird set up with this video because I was streaming the video
Great content! Please make some more videos of push 3 with Modular :)
Thanks! Will do!
Great video. Very helpful!
Thanks! Happy to help!
I bought euro tracks and the push 3 thinking they were each their own separate thing. This is awesome.
Amazing! Did you get it all set up ok?
@@pushpatterns I ordered the cables. I love your videos. You've helped me a bunch before.
Great! would love to know how you got on!

Good spot will add them now! and thanks for the feedback!

@@pushpatterns Yes, I had the CV outs….
Have you set the correct outputs in the cv tool instrument?
i bit of latency right?
It depends, what is your buffer size and are you monitoring through the CV instrument?
