As someone who is more interested in the G1 toy aesthetic than toon, and who will take bot mode compromise for a great alt mode, this guy was an easy purchase. The joints on mine seem super tight, but that flap behind his head was actually a positive for me. And its definitely bot mode with door wings out!
I simply loved mines..... I thought his alt-mode was the best one in my book so far... although I must admit GT version had the most agility out of all of them in robot mode... looking forward to seeing more from toyworld being that this is a new company they have plenty of room for improvement but there attention to detail is certainly a great look in my department... Good job guys!
Hey Ben, it's not often I see one of your reviews after I got the bot. Normally I watch your reviews before I buy it. I skipped Downbeat when my dealer told me Coolsville was inbound. Got him at TF-robots in the Netherlands. Have him for about 3 weeks now. I'm still pondering about a home-made fix for the wrists and the neckplate, but beyond that, I'm very happy with this figure! I haven't even transformed it yet. Straight out of the box, into the display cabinet. Absolutely love all that die-cast and the awesome paintjob. Keep up the good work!
I definitely scratched some paint while transforming and knocked off a sideview mirror. I kinda thought the seams would be a bit more... well... seamless in alt mode. Still I love this thing.
My comment may comes a bit late compared to the release date of this video but I just got into Transformers G1 collection: I would like your opinion on the best MP-scale Jazz now. Thank you!
Thanks for the video Ben. Love this figure, but the transformation from bot to car is definitely 'sit in the corner and cry' level, much like BadCube figures
Whatever happens with TW after the Zeta split I'm glad they got these out. The aesthetics aren't my favorite, but the "TW-M##" series figures just feel so much better in hand than many other companies figures.
Alt mode is dead on and I love the bot mode. Definitely looks like the animation version of Jazz.

Great video. I also have him. No string here too. My issue with him is that at the hood, it looks like they had some dust on it and just painted over it on the white areas. I can see many dust points and I'm not sure what I can do to cover these up, if I chose the wrong white it can look awful.
guys i got this thing and it is badass. he is by far my favorite jazz mp. the vid talks about not being able to get the front of the windshield tabbed but it does. everything is tight. the other ones are very fisher price like someone said. and that flap in the back of his head that i was worried about is hardly detectable in real life. the car mode is stunning and so is the bot mode. he feels like a metal toy...like a hotwheels car like the vid says. he is my fav autobot car behind my mirage :) i dunno and maybe prime as he is cool sprinkled with awesome sauce...even though i snapped off a piece of his damn leg flap by mistake. never had a prime as a kid. this toy is solid though don't go anywhere else for a jazz :)
I think they really delivered in terms of the car mode. But the bot mode, that strange neck situation, got me buying a Maketoys Downbeat and soon some Reprolabels for it.
Dominik Heidrich good choice. I did the same, waited for 5 months before i pulled the trigger thanks to other orders at the same time as a filler, but after put the stickers on he moves like a Jazz figure should, have the motion limitations Jazz probably never would do have a great weight to it in both modes and hates standing straight up without posing anything and "morphing" part in transformation that actually fills a purpose, not the Hasbro kinda crap. And the transformation itself isnt difficult after 1 try. Yes i still think they fucked up at the back in altmode, but it wont be seen as much and with the stickers it can be managable. Not like this toy, looks more like a shell to be shaped after Jazz own shadow in bot mode
Hey Ben . I'm having some trouble Buying some Figures. I have the option of buying two of these, one for my good marks in school, and 1 for Christmas. In Your opinion, which 2 should I buy? MO1,MO1D,MO1B, and MPP10. All of them have something great , but i'm having trouble choosing. I'd really appreciate it if you help! Thanks.
Forgive me the obvious question, but I would like to know which Jazz model to choose from these brands: Z Toys, Toyworld, Transform Rollout or other 3rd parties? Thanks.
I sort of jumped the gun and got the Generation Toys J4ZZ before this or MT Downbeat came out. J4zz isn't even a little bit G1 accurate, but I don't regret the purchase. Still, between the two, I think I'd have preferred the MT version over the TW one here
Looks... Okay. Don't really like the choice of flap behind the head and the open forearms are really inexcusable. Thanks for the review. Something about your review feels different. Perhaps you are zoomed in more. Cheers!
I get the feeling that this Jazz was an attempt to slim down and improve on the Prowl you compared him to, but what I'd guess to be cost-cutting choices generally hampered the figure.
He seems good though i have to ask will u be getting the zeta toys version? It seems like they took this design and maybe fixed some issues. If its anythimg like their arialbots im looking forward to seeing it.
I was never truly happy with my (now boxed-up) Maketoys Downbeat. The swirly silver plastic gave it a decidedly downmarket look next to my other Masterpiece figures. This one is the exact opposite. The finish is amazing, though I removed the visor by disassembling the head and repainted it a light metallic blue (you get two identical visors). It made a huge difference as the clear plastic (questionable light-piping) is too dark in my opinion. They put care into opening all the vents in the hood and sides so that you can actually see through them. If I saw and handled this figure without knowing who made it, I probably would have guessed Fans Toys, based on the weight and finish (and squeaky-tight joints). I wish Toyworld kept this kind of consistency across their line. Only downside for me was that the arms come compressed in the box and you have to extend them. Mine were insanely tight, one of them almost to the point of feeling fused. I had to use rubber jar-openers to extend the right arm the first time. I was very worried that I would break something.
Figure looks fantastic! Except for that HORRIBLE we're still stuck in 2003 piece of huge plastic behind his neck/head. Why in the world would they do that ? Simple hinge and they'd sell thousands more. Silly.
TW does their own thing. It is either from the the G1 Toy which TW uses for inspiration more than any other 3P company, or possibly some Studio Ox artwork which they use some to. Hard to tell on the Ox though since there were so many different artists with different styles. I understand it isn't for everyone, but I figure 1 company using toy inspiration is probably a good thing since there are people who that is their nostalgia.
Hey great review. This is not a bad figure and I do like it but its just not hitting that mark for me. I really like their Seaspray and Cosmos, but I think for Jazz I am gonna have to go with MakeToys.
To be fair this one has an arguably better alt mode and definitely paint application. However the bot mode differences is just too drastic to ignore. Maketoys jazz is one of my all time favourates.
I agree Cameron. I got this one last week. Absolutely love it! Love the weight, the detail and paint and fits in so nice. Maketoys came off a bit too fisher price for me.
David Kennedy downbeat has a more accurate Porsche and the robot mode for downbeat hides the car doors and the speakers are better too because they can plug-in in more places and looks better with masterpiece figures
I like him, but all of those Mortini racing decals are what is preventing me from making a purchase. I wish they had just left them off and gone straight with the stripes and numbers.
Why do most autobots from the G1 cartoon have a shoulder mounted rocket launcher? And why are there no decepticons except for sound wave that have A shoulder mounted rocket launcher?
Jayson Edmonds civilians taking up arms makes it without much change to the other part of the bot easier to just attach a rocket launcher to your shoulder than sacrifice your alt mode to a more military styled vehicle
Hmmm, I am visiting Singapore now. I wonder if they have a physical location. Visited the Sunday flea-market at China Central Square today and picked up a few figures.
The address is 1016 Geylang East Avenue 3 #03-147. However the store only opens on Tue 7-9pm, Fir 7-9pm and Sun 12-2pm. I would suggest you use the website to check out what figures are available. I would recommend getting Rendsora, it's material is great and it's price unbeatable.
no forearm covers, thats inexcusable for a masterpiece styled transformer. why is the transformation so overly complicated? alt mode is VERY G1 toy accurate though. i'm not sure how i feel about this guy. looks good though in both modes.
Cant get this coolsville to transform, screw came loose off arm before going to video. Video has too many jump cuts. Arms not problem, it's the damn front & back of car joint that's not lining lining up & joining. Prefer this in car mode, sadly haven't experience. Is there a 3rd party Omnibot Overdrive? Want a Ferrari in my Autobot line-up. He would go great next to my half transformed Jazzironi !!!
Bought this one on a whim weeks ago, (my debit card should be disabled after 11pm...hooray late night purchases) and while I like him, don't LOVE him. I mean it's good, the paint is great, but feel like I've bought far better figures for less (paid $90).
Mandalore2280 sell that hiding shellformer and get yourself Maketoys Downbeat with some stickers for him from reprolabels. Trust me it will be the best thing you ever spent your cash on for a Jazz, doubtful if you would bother to buy Takaras version after that purchase IF they ever would do him in the MP line which i highly doubt they will
Both maketoys and toyworld fail, I have coolsville but I don't like its transformation. Will wait for official but to me this looks better than maketoys.
Watched Thew, and he stated that he hated this figure. Doesnt seem too bad. But that transformation is a bit derpy. Is licensing an issue with Takara not making a Jazz?
Picture the scene: you're ripping off a globally known property knowing you're pretty much untouchable running this stuff out of parts unknown in the Far East where no one gives a damn about licensing. Why then would you cover it in a load of crappy fake sponsor logos? If you're going to do it, do it with style and rip everything off properly, damn it! Lame, TW, lame. Even ignoring that, as desperate as I am for an MP Jazz, this just doesn't do it for me. Nicer car than the MT one but that bot mode is absolute bobbins, he just looks off.
Well you have to understand, they run this stuff there because Chinese IP laws are more lax in regards to likeness of licensing than many places in the West, but not SO lax that directly ripping off actual corporate Logos would be something you could legitimately do and feel comfortable getting away with.
I love this figure! Best Jazz mp out there, great in both modes
Agreed.. it's absolutely the best.. eapecially in alt mode. In hand it crushes the Maketoys version.
As someone who is more interested in the G1 toy aesthetic than toon, and who will take bot mode compromise for a great alt mode, this guy was an easy purchase. Lolzzz at "shed load", great review Ben, glad someone took a good look at this figure. Alt mode is sublime...
Hey Ben, it's not often I see one of your reviews after I got the bot. Normally I watch your reviews before I buy it.

beautiful piece
I definitely scratched some paint while transforming and knocked off a sideview mirror. I kinda thought the seams would be a bit more... well... seamless in alt mode. Still I love this thing.
I understand the movie bwarm sound, but must admit, I miss the 8 bit music you used to use.
Yeah. Mix 'em up. Alternate.
My comment may comes a bit late compared to the release date of this video but I just got into Transformers G1 collection: I would like your opinion on the best MP-scale Jazz now. Thank you!
I would say Transform and Rollout Agent Meister
Thanks for the video Ben. Love this figure, but the transformation from bot to car is definitely 'sit in the corner and cry' level, much like BadCube figures
I fancy make toys over this bad Larry well done review mate
Whatever happens with TW after the Zeta split I'm glad they got these out. The aesthetics aren't my favorite, but the "TW-M##" series figures just feel so much better in hand than many other companies figures.

The Fanstoys squeaks made their way into a Toyworld fig 😆
Hated it in pics.. bought it and liked it so much I bought 2..
I think they really delivered in terms of the car mode. But the bot mode, that strange neck situation, got me buying a Maketoys Downbeat and soon some Reprolabels for it.

I do like the look of him a lot. Just so g1.
Hey Ben . I'm having some trouble Buying some Figures. I have the option of buying two of these, one for my good marks in school, and 1 for Christmas. In Your opinion, which 2 should I buy? Plebby Plebian Definitely MPP10
I agree, they should sell those interlocking base pieces separately. I'd get a bunch.
I still hope that takara tomy sell this figure instead of 3rd party...but still cool & great review!
Looks pretty good.
Forgive me the obvious question, but I would like to know which Jazz model to choose from these brands: Z Toys, Toyworld, Transform Rollout or other 3rd parties? Thanks.
Which one is better...Agent Meister or this one? 🤔
watching the transformation of the figure and seeing jazz's head go into his body made me think of a turtle...
Got this guy I like him and he certainly will do till Takara do an official release, does anyone know if repro labels are doing stickers for him?
I sort of jumped the gun and got the Generation Toys J4ZZ before this or MT Downbeat came out. J4zz isn't even a little bit G1 accurate, but I don't regret the purchase. Still, between the two, I think I'd have preferred the MT version over the TW one here

That transformation. 😳

He seems good though i have to ask will u be getting the zeta toys version? It seems like they took this design and maybe fixed some issues. If its anythimg like their arialbots im looking forward to seeing it.
Did you figure out how to attach the speaker cones in either mode?
Really love alt mode
I was never truly happy with my (now boxed-up) Maketoys Downbeat. The swirly silver plastic gave it a decidedly downmarket look next to my other Masterpiece figures. This one is the exact opposite. Get Reprolabels for your Downbeat it will be worth it and use this bot as the vehicle version
Jazz would make a great yoga instructor
Jayson Edmonds dat split 😂

Can the flap behind the head fold all the way back or is there a stopping point?
Mega 81 It cannot fold back.
poloskier1967 It does rotate on a pin right? If not fold back, could fold foward under and tuck somewhere? I'm only curious that's all haha.
Hey great review. This is not a bad figure and I do like it but its just not hitting that mark for me. I really like their Seaspray and Cosmos, but I think for Jazz I am gonna have to go with MakeToys.
After seeing this, I am glad I went with Maketoys... Not feeling this one at all.
To be fair this one has an arguably better alt mode and definitely paint application. However the bot mode differences is just too drastic to ignore. Maketoys jazz is one of my all time favourates.
That is exactly the opposite of how I feel. I've just never felt the MT one. Good thing both were made in the end.
Hurray for choices, no? :)
I agree Cameron. I got this one last week. Absolutely love it! Love the weight, the detail and paint and fits in so nice. Maketoys came off a bit too fisher price for me.

Legend has it if you click a notification in 3 seconds, you get pinned by Benscollectables

can u hide the flap behind his head?
more teeny racing! love that auto generated subs lol
OMP is a great online store in Singapore.
Hmmm, I am visiting Singapore now. I wonder if they have a physical location. Visited the Sunday flea-market at China Central Square today and picked up a few figures.

Thank you! I will check it out if I get the chance on this trip. If not, I will save the address for the next time I pass through.

Still easier to transform than the G1 Jazz
the cruch transformation part looks very tricky

Am I the only one who went with the Generation Toys version?
webzpinner Definitely can't please everyone I guess
what camera and Mic do you use? its so clear.
I have to wonder did they pay those companies to use their logos ?
Hustle Simmons no they don't
Both maketoys and toyworld fail, I have coolsville but I don't like its transformation. Will wait for official but to me this looks better than maketoys.
Irwin Pang I think maketoys jazz is more generation one accurate and maketoys has a cleaner back on downbeat and it hides the windows
Watched Thew, and he stated that he hated this figure. Doesnt seem too bad. But that transformation is a bit derpy. Is licensing an issue with Takara not making a Jazz?
John Gavin Yep, I heard they already had designs for Jazz and Cliffjumper but Porsche won't give them the license.
The part that's hanging behind his head and the hollowness in his arms are deal-breakers for me.
Can your intro be any louder?
Akumu Synx so.. volume control...
Akumu Synx shut up
Those holey forearms...pass
Vehicle mode looks really nice, shame about the rest of it.
Picture the scene: you're ripping off a globally known property knowing you're pretty much untouchable running this stuff out of parts unknown in the Far East where no one gives a damn about licensing. Sooooo Maketoys?... gotcha!
I do not care for this toy.
That gaping hole on his inner arms. The botched elbows. The overall cheapo look.
Sigh... My 100$ will go elsewhere.
In the end, after handling it my local geek shop, I took the Zeta-03 edition. Way more solid in person than through a simple video.
I don't like 😢
TMan978 What's not to like, about this figure? 🤔 It has more of a G1 feel & look to it.
