Betty is a babe! 😎 Congratulations Charlie, you’ve created a wonderful bike that is full of character and charm! I’m guessing you’ll be saving her for warm, sunny summer day trips, like down to the coast or dressing-up day outs? She will do you proud. 👍 I’ve also got to say how impressed I am at how you have progressed, improved and developed as a content creator. Your filming and video editing is both creative and imaginative. Your choice of background music and, more importantly, how you blend and edit it with your source background sound is equally impressive. You’ve come a long way in a short time and I can only see you getting better. 🙂 It’s also clear you have a lot of guts and determination. You don’t give in and you learn from every setback, taking the positives from each one and finding a way to learn and improve. You’re a great role model for your daughter, well done you! Triumph Speedmaster next I reckon...? 😉
Very nice build, so many old reasonably priced japanese v-twins around its hard to choose. My shadow 700 was great but i decided to move on to an RE650 which i like a lot, only trouble i missed the old v -twin so ended up finding a virago 750 to work on through these wet winter nights. Now I am lucky enough to be torn as to which bike i ride ! Enjoy your videos. 😁
Hi Charlie a piece of advice having owned a beautiful yamaha v twin (bt1100 ) carbed. I absolutely loved the bike v twin huge torque beautiful sound and shaft drive. However I completely gave up on the bike duel to fuel issues. This new petrol gummed the carbs up in 3 months. As it was a 2 nd bike for sunny days, it wasn’t run regularly. This e5 and 10 fuel is death for carbs. Ina v twin getting carbs on and off is not fun. Also my snorkels started cracking and when I looked at replacement they were £300 each one and not available any more(2005). Because it involves some wrestling with them everytime the carbs came off I decided to sell it. Now got fuel injected bike and having no trouble. Touch wood. A word to the wise, leave little fuel in it and refresh it regularly by riding and refuel a little and but what you need and use it so you refresh every ride. Maybe an additive. When I took my carbs off I was able to clean the jelly out but the idle jet was blocked every time causing G poor starting, tick over and slow running in traffic. Wide open it would run. Hope you don’t encounter the same with your v twin. U have jay, I am a lay person who tinkers. Before e10 I used to clean my carbs every couple years but not for me no more. Fuel injection all the way unless you got easy carb removal. Bike suits u to a tee😂hoping she’s kind to you
Looks great well done all 😁👌 Also love your s bomb t shirt, very jealous there, we live in the Peak District, and we toured the Jurassic coast earlier this year, the s bomb workshop was one of the places we really wanted to visit , maybe even meet titch ?? But it was closed on the day we were passing 😩 next time hopefully 🤞😊
OOoh Charlie, disappointed, sacrifizing comfort for looks was something we did when we were 19???? Well I will just wait until you are cought out in rain!!!! The engine is a peach, same as in my transalp, but I can see where this will sadly end---- HD!
No sag would be almost impossible to ride. baffles will also stop you getting a heaadache on a ride. You will need a minute or two to work out which bike you are on
I literally just finished 'today' my 'flame' paint job on my Kawasaki Vulcan 900 bobber, IS it summer yet??? Been into custom bikes since I saw easy rider back in the 60s, I had ape hangers on my BSA 250 C15 within days, followed by a stars n stripes paint job, which washed off the first time I spilt petrol on it. 70 years old and still love my customs.
Thank you for this super video. There is a great team there!! I totally agree with the 'missing 6th gear and oomph' with the Himalayan. I'm going to try a Super Meteor 650 soon. I won't buy one...no I won't....
Admire your willingness to take on pretty complex stuff. I don't think I would ever have the confidence to go hacking chunks off fork stanchions! Out of interest how much did you pay for Betty? She looked as if the bobbing had been pretty badly done and things like that broken saddle bracket and the problem with the forks would really have put me off and it would have had to be very, very cheap to take it on? Perhaps I'm not adventurous enough but I'd have saved up and bought an RE Super Meteor.
What happened to the Charlie who tackled her own jobs although she had not a clue ? Thought maybe her dad had come by to check on her and then dropped her pony tail in dirty engine oil ! Seems she went to play with some big boys and turned into a badass. Really ? It's one way to go I suppose. Ride safe 🤘
Oh I still do my own fettling, I'm learning more as I go, and still get involved, but it's nice to have others over see to make sure I'm not getting it too wrong! 🤣
i knew that you was a "bad girl" 😅 I like Betty very much, but i am not a great fan of the headlight. you can find a good looking headlight with leds on chinese merchants. French government is triyng to set up a MOT for bikes (due to UE regulations) but french bikers are fiercely against this law. We don't know if modified bike will be allowed. they set the point on pollution and noise control (where is the safety argument ???). Automobile MOT controlers are not ready (no training and no machines) and workers may have driving bike licence A2 or A
Shadows are great bikes. I have owned 3 standard 600s and 2 1100s and used to ride with the Shadow Owners club in East Anglia. I have also owned a hardtail chop and I wouldn't be in a hurry to own another one! Have fun!
You've made a lot of great videos this far, but this one tops them all. Great job, Charlie. Keep doing stuff like this I,m just loving it. Betty looks very good indeed, except maybe the headlight, but hey " de gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum" Grts Danny
Hey Charlie. Nice job of customizing your Shadow. Looking forward to seeing the other mods you refer to. Coincidently, I have a VT750 Shadow Custom ( ‘84) which is basically original and is a daily rider and not a bobber. Doesn’t look as cool as yours though. Good engine and nice sound. Problem I have is the riding position becomes a bit uncomfortable after about 1 1/2 hours or so. I’m 6’1” and my knees are quite high when riding and start to ache. Looking for a replacement now. Best of luck with Bessie. Cheers, Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦
I've been patiently awaiting the new addition to your stable Charlie and as always, you don't disappoint! Betty is SO you! Looking forward to more vids with Charlie n Betty 😀👍
Hi the front forks are lowered making them stiff . How are you getting on now the inner sleeve has been shortened to reduce the preload on the spring? Do the forks now bottom out?
Nice bike Charlie, it suites you, the upgrades you’ve done look great, love the headlamp, great look from yourself with the bowler hat 🎩, you did well to put the springers on that new saddle , very impressive, safe riding , Mitch 👍
Hats off to you for making it "yours". Although I am not a Bobber type person I can see the attraction of riding something that is a one off with no other the same.
A few vlogs back watching you at the distinguished gentleman's ride's and a couple of other events you have attened Charlie, I noticed that you were a bit taken with some modified Harley's, I thought the seat height and your riding style might suit you well 🙂. Your very lucky to have 2/3 very good people around you Jake & the Breaded Wonder! and Geoff as mentors plus a bit of adventours sprit within you Charlie, do like like the headlight & new saddle (do wish Icould spell without a dictionary (& yes looking at cover to spell dictionary) 😵💫🤣
Your vids continue to make me smile & inspire me. I've also moved on from my 1st bike RE Meteor 350 in search of more oomf... and now am completely obsessed with my new love, Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster. Think all she needs is white walls like yours 🤩
Spray painted home made fittings, chopped suspension and custom seats, now you're cooking Charlie. Just find a Gene Vincent or Eddie Cochran sound track for your next video and this 'ol geezer will be very happy. 👍😄
It’s amazing how these Shadows get recreated into lovely one off bikes. There’s a bloke not too far from me who has done a replica of a Morgan with a Shadow V stuck on the front, decent job, except he admitted the chain drive to the back wheel needs more work, wish I could post a photo, it looks great and sounds even better.😊😊😊😊
Omg LOVE the seat!!!!!! It matches my doc Martens! Really love the style of Betty. You are very lucky to have friends that knows about bike and are willing to help you modify and fix your bikes!
Wowzers, what a bike. Love all the changes. Looking forward to Betty's appearance in future videos. Any chance of a formal introduction to that beautiful dog next time, not sure if he's yours or one of the guys. Had to laugh at the way he was pottering around keeping his eye on all the improvements 😂😊
Man, this woman's got style!! Love it. I've known, and seen, several riders with these 600s over the years, and all cherish them... apart from those wanting to ride 2-up. They lack a little power for two adults. In my neck of the woods they are common for customizing, have reliable motors and loved by the "little people! Welcome to Charlie's shed.
Wow Betty is a looker! You have definitely given her a much needed make over. She is looking fine! Hope she runs as good as she looks for you. As always , Ride safe
Nice bike. I'm reckoning in about a year or so youll start looking at Harley 883 sportsters, just like my missus did after she passed her test . But this looks great. Well done Charlie.
Hi Charlie what a cracking looking bike i love the seat , are you going to fit a front mud guard , tbf i thought you would have gone for a Harley , looking forward to more on betty
Lovely bike, so many great mods! I laughed at the forks, we have black fork oil on the kitchen ceiling currently 🤦🏼♀️ Yay for Mutts, I’ve got a Fat Sabbath, which I love, but god it’s slow 😂 as soon as I’ve taken my full test in Jan (long wait for mods atm) I’m off to get a Hunter 350 ❤ I do want a street twin, but not sure I can afford that just yet. Ps, Staffy kisses from my land hippo 🦛

Well thank you kindly! 😊
Drowning Pool !!! I couldn't recognize the intro. Sounds like Motörhead.

Oh she's definitely a fair weather only ride, I have been caught in the rain on her already. 🫣
No sag would be almost impossible to ride. baffles will also stop you getting a heaadache on a ride. You will need a minute or two to work out which bike you are on
The added sag and baffles have made a world of difference. ☺️
Welcome to the custom bike world Charlie. Now you got a bike you could paint flames on 👍😃
Hahahhaa maybe one day.
I literally just finished 'today' my 'flame' paint job on my Kawasaki Vulcan 900 bobber,
IS it summer yet???
Been into custom bikes since I saw easy rider back in the 60s, I had ape hangers on my BSA 250 C15 within days,
followed by a stars n stripes paint job, which washed off the first time I spilt petrol on it.
70 years old and still love my customs.
The Vt range of Hondas are excellent, I've had a few Vt1100's and loved them. Hoping to find another one soon.
How could you do that to Lagertha ? May God forgive you.
She's gone to a good home. 😊
Doesn’t look comfy for the back but each to there own
That seat is a work of art, top quality craftsmanship indeed !!! 👍🏽👍🏽
It truly is! 😊
Thank you for this super video. There is a great team there!! I totally agree with the 'missing 6th gear and oomph' with the Himalayan. I'm going to try a Super Meteor 650 soon. I won't buy one...no I won't....
Ah Jane, The Himmy is staying, it's the meteor 350 that I was searching for 6th with! I would like to test the 650 tho. 🤣
Admire your willingness to take on pretty complex stuff. I don't think I would ever have the confidence to go hacking chunks off fork stanchions! Out of interest how much did you pay for Betty? I think it's a case of being able to see the potential under the minor faults. 😊
She got that nickname in highschool❤
What happened to the Charlie who tackled her own jobs although she had not a clue ? Thought maybe her dad had come by to check on her and then dropped her pony tail in dirty engine oil !

That's the great thing about customising your ride, you can get what you like. 😊
Hi Charlie what was the 125 you learned on? Just took my CBT at 65 ready to get a bike for retirement
That was the Mutt Mongrel, a BRILLIANT bike. 😍
Enjoy your new steed Charlie, owned a 750 at a time but found the tank was way to square and uncomfortable on any even moderate run 😢
That's a shame!
Nice choice on the head light
The stock head light is a bit on the dim side
Keep up the revolutions!
I do like Jay’s headlight bracket. Bobbers are well, bobbers.
They sure are!
I thought the straight bars looked great. Did you change them for comfort?
I did, the reach was just a bit too far. ☺️
Shadows are great bikes. I have owned 3 standard 600s and 2 1100s and used to ride with the Shadow Owners club in East Anglia. I have also owned a hardtail chop and I wouldn't be in a hurry to own another one! Have fun!
I love the way she sounds and handles.
You've made a lot of great videos this far, but this one tops them all. Great job, Charlie. Keep doing stuff like this I,m just loving it. Betty looks very good indeed, except maybe the headlight, but hey " de gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum" Grts Danny

Brilliant.
Nice bike.😎
It’s a gas
It doesn’t look like a Betty, more like a George
She's Black Betty Bam ba lam. 😁
Cool looking bike. 👍
Nice
wow !
Tbh i think Betty appeals more than the Triumph version and considerably cheaper. Epic.
I've been patiently awaiting the new addition to your stable Charlie and as always, you don't disappoint! Betty is SO you! Looking forward to more vids with Charlie n Betty 😀👍
Thank you Graham! 😍
Hi the front forks are lowered making them stiff . How are you getting on now the inner sleeve has been shortened to reduce the preload on the spring? Do the forks now bottom out?
Hi, it has made a big difference, and I've had no issues with it bottoming out. 😊
@@restdayrider that’s good to know I was going to raise mine up again but I may do that instead 👍🏻
Nice bike Charlie, it suites you, the upgrades you’ve done look great, love the headlamp, great look from yourself with the bowler hat 🎩, you did well to put the springers on that new saddle , very impressive, safe riding , Mitch 👍

Very nice and doesn’t she sound great 😎
She sure does! 😊
Good luck with her, your mate is lucky touring on the BSA, I tour on the 500 Bullet also on BSA A50.
Lovely bike. I used to have a 650 Honda Shadow C2. Best bike I ever owned. Always started first time left in any weather. Enjoy the miles and smiles
Hats off to you for making it "yours". Although I am not a Bobber type person I can see the attraction of riding something that is a one off with no other the same.
I think that's exactly what appeals to me , she's very unique. 😊
Fantastic work! Love seeing you get stuck in and doing these bits yourself with your awesome band! And Betty looks amazing!
Thank you 😊
What are you doing with that ???😂😅
Playing!
Will you be looking at the Himalayan 450 in November ?......as Rogers successor ?
I think this maybe a very interesting motorbike. Fingers crossed.
I may test ride, but Rogers staying!
@restdayrider Oh Charlie you are certainly taking a risk doing that ! I went for a test ride last year ...she's in my garage now ! 🤣
@themoog3889 🤣
Well wasnt expecting this one Charlie althought the shadow was a bad bike in general, hope you have some good times with Betty
Betty is quite the looker, Charlie! What a colossal transformation. Your choice of accents is spot on. 👌
Thank you very much! 😊
Turned out to be a sexy lil bike
She did indeed, can't wait for the warmer dry weather to get her out again!
I used to have one many years back. I called it Hidalgo. The Ténéré I ride now is called Betty.
A reallystylish bobber that
Thank you ,😊
Betty looks amazing, well done you Charlie, safe ride and enjoy! 👍👍

An amazing bespoke sissy bar, which will be unlike ANYONE else's. 😊

That’s a handsome seat FairPlay.I like that boot protector ❤️. 👏👏🏴
Thank you, it was a pricey seat! 🫣
Greetings from down under. Well done, another great episode. Thankyou.
Thanks Keith. 😊
Looks good charlie,I've got the vt700,chopped down rear but still has shocks, keep up the good work:)
Nice 👍
Omg LOVE the seat!!!!!! It matches my doc Martens! Really love the style of Betty.
You are very lucky to have friends that knows about bike and are willing to help you modify and fix your bikes!
Thank you! I really am lucky 😊
Very nice Charlie... great video , hope you have lots of fun with " Betty" .😎👍
Thanks 👍
Super video. Loved seeing the start of the transformation on your new bike. It’s one cool looking machine 😎
Glad you liked it! 😊
That looks great, good rescue of a bike in need. Sometimes messing with them is more fun than the riding 😊
Its definitely addictive! 🤣

Thank you 😊
Nice bike. I'm reckoning in about a year or so youll start looking at Harley 883 sportsters, just like my missus did after she passed her test . But this looks great. Well done Charlie.
I looked at HF, but too pricey for me.
Nice looking bobber. Next will be a Harley! Good for you, have fun!
HD are a tad too pricey for me!
Really interesting seeing you and the 'boys' working on Betty to make her yours! You do enjoy getting your hands dirty Charlie!
I do like to muck in! 😊
Looks great...... apart from the light though. But you like it and that is all that matters :-)
Its a death ray lamp. 🤣
What a lovely looking bike and an interesting new direction for you. Suits you, I look forward to seeing where Betty takes you.👍🏻
You and me both! 😊
Hi Charlie what a cracking looking bike i love the seat , are you going to fit a front mud guard , tbf i thought you would have gone for a Harley , looking forward to more on betty
HD are just a bit over priced for me to be honest.
Congratulations on your purchase of Betty a very nice Bobber.👍
Thanks Rab.
Nice looking bobber Charlie I definitely love your choice of seat❤❤
Thank you, it was a bit pricey but I do love it. 🫣
Lovely bike, so many great mods!
I laughed at the forks, we have black fork oil on the kitchen ceiling currently 🤦🏼♀️
Yay for Mutts, I’ve got a Fat Sabbath, which I love, but god it’s slow 😂 as soon as I’ve taken my full test in Jan (long wait for mods atm) I’m off to get a Hunter 350 ❤ I do want a street twin, but not sure I can afford that just yet.
Ps, Staffy kisses from my land hippo 🦛
On the ceiling? 🤣
@@restdayrider lol yup, trying to get the seals off a bandit 1250 GT and the forks act like a pump 🤣
Nice custom job on the shadow Charlie good luck with her😊
Thank you 😀
Suits u that bike sounds nice as well not for distance work though 😊
Not without frequent stops. 🤣
New bike, new journey, lots of adventures to come 😁
Hope so! 😊
Harley next.......🤔
Bit too pricey!
