Here's a lesson on the intricate guitar playing of Paul McCartney that he recorded for this most loved iconic classic! Chart & Tabs: mikepachelli.com/charts-tabs
How privileged are we to have lived in the same period of time that The Beatles decided that a band would be a good idea and just maybe we could write a few songs people might like...😊
Intercontinental communication, recording technology, jet planes... and 4 or 6 guys. I include Stewart Sutcliffe and Pete best. George Martin. ... hungry Americans
The song Yesterday was a revelation. The “universe” was surprised by the amazing new sound and presentation. “Can ya do that?” The answer was, “apparently so.” You had to be alive then to fully appreciate the shock waves and ripples. Paul was not yet 23 years old. Rock music was changed and expanded forever. Subsequent generations shrug, don’t really “get it” and simply learn to love the song on its merit. Thank you Mike for your presentation.
Paul Mac's magic moment - a sensational piece of music and lyrics. A great history lesson on this song. I believe this song has the most people doing a cover of this song. Good lesson - the down-tuned guitar makes the difference.
Came here just to listen to this version, only to end up reflecting on my personal life's shortcomings halfway through the sound alike. Thanks Paul/Mike!
I have no idea how you can work this all out but am so pleased you can. To think this was written when he was only 22 is quite amazing I think. Thanks for sharing.
its always a good day when mike pachelli uploads. easily the best music channel. not only do you teach us how to play the song, but also a lot of cool facts about it too.
Terrific lesson & rendition Mike! "Yesterday" is definitely one of the greatest songs ever written! Paul's true genius shinning through loud & clear! Thank you for all of these amazing videos Mike! 👍👍
Mike, I have often loved your videos and charts for Beatles songs, but this one is incredible. I’ve never seen anyone take this song apart so forensically. Thanks so much. The detail which you uncover in McCartney’s playing is incredible. Thanks. Two thumbs aloft from me to you 👍🏽👍🏽
What word is there that is stronger than genius? Whatever it is Macca deserves it. Written by a 22yo, the same guy who just a few years earlier had travelled across Liverpool by bus with his mate John becasue they had heard of someone who know how to play B7 and they wanted to know the secret. They listened. This magnificent melody, born fully formed according to the folklaw, (and performed by the bands bass player on solo accoustic guitar) is a feast of chords, subtleties of guitar nuance and, well, just something stronger than genius. And thats just the musical side..... the lyrics are something else. I never knew John threw in the 'Yesterday' word to fit the 'scrambled eggs' metre. 'The Beatles' never gets old.
Years ago i figured out how to play this in the key of F in standard tuning - it’s tricky. I could never sing it and play it at the same time though. I believe it is one of the most covered songs of all time. Another great video, thanks Mike.
Vocals a little down was a good idea here. I would actually love to see two playthroughs at the end; one as you do it now, and then one with either no vocals, or the vocals waaaaaaay down in the mix so they're barely audible. Just to hear the guitars more clearly, all the way through at tempo. There's so much to be learned about all the little nuances that get lost in the full mix. Thanks for doing all of these... I've stumbled around how to play these songs properly for as long as I've been playing, and you've taught me so much!
as it turns out I taught myself this by ear back in the seventies....and surprisingly my version transcribes and sounds very close ........and back then I was the drummer in the band lol :) nice to see how it was really done and I enjoy the back story's as well , Thanks Mike
From the studio talk on take 1 on Anthology 2, I get the impression that Paul was looking at a full band version ("It'll be in F for you...") and the intro is played more rhythmically. Someone must have said just you Paul.
Hi Mike, that was just a wonderful take on the maestro Mc Cartney's masterpiece of which I believe was one of the greatest tunes of the 20th century, and you certainly did it an overwhelming justice. For us people that grew up with Beatles music we owe you a debt of gratitude. Hoping you will continue to show us the complexities and the superlatives of just how talented the Beatles were. Many thanks Mike. Ronnie.
I love these, especially the cool facts to know and tell. I'm hoping you're gonna work your way through their whole catalogue of songs! How about some 'I'm Down, Long Tall Sally or Leave my Kitten Alone? Keep up the amazing work!
Definitely one of your best lessons yet, Mike, such a beautiful song and undoubtedly one of their best. Great as always and I look forward to the next video
"Scrambled eggs Oh my baby how I love your legs Reminds me of the way my beagle begs Oh Scrambled eggs I love your legs" Perhaps that's the way Paul may have done it. 🤣 As he rewrote it though, Yesterday by Paul McCartney remains a timeless Beatles' masterpiece from 1965
Another great lesson thanks Mike👍🏻 would love a lesson for Hey Bulldog or Strawberry Fields!!! Would you ever do lessons for Bob Dylan songs? We need someone like you showing us how it’s done
😎👍 This makes me want to hear you take a crack at Keith Richards' very similar guitar part for "As Tears Go By," which came out a few months after "Yesterday."
I remember hearing this for the first time when he performed it ( by tape I believe) on the Ed Sullivan show, waaaay back when. You did a real nice cover !
On one TV show(which one?), after Paul sings this song camera focusing totally on him, John says " it was just like him" multiple meanings from a genius! I've Just Seen a Face was an old instrumental Paul would play MANY times at those family/Auntie Gin parties.
Really good Lesson thank you ,I think I'll have to have a go at this version , I learnt it (sort of) in the Key of F in standard tuning from a book before the internet using mostly Bar Chords, seems to work though.
Thank you for your lesson❤ i love your videos❤ they help me a lot❤ i wanna be a John Lennon impersonator and i'll GET my Rickenbacker 325 Guitar soon ❤
Perfection as always Mike! Do you have any thoughts on how different the future may have been for the boys individually, and music in general, had this song been released as a McCartney single rather than a Beatles Lennon-McCartney song?
I love the original version in F with the string quartet..a masterpiece but I liked the BAND version in G they were doing live in 1966 …Harrison was getting some of the the string lines on his Epiphone Casino.
Nice Midi work mike, may I ask which strings you used? Meaning what is it spitfire or a waves program or IK multimedia because I to have access to some great string samples and I’m just wondering which ones you use in your studio
Thanks Wilson. I key the midi in ProTools with a midi controller. Violin 1 & 2 are with the Xpand2 software (Big Hard Strings) the Viola is from KONTAKT Session Strings (05 Legato) and the Cello is also from Session Strings (01 Sustain).
Mike that was excellent. Paul actually plucks the bass notes in spots either accidentally or on purpose I don’t know. He wouldn’t say ? 😅😂 Which I have always considered the first slap bass 😂

I saw Paul McCartney play "Yesterday" as a solo act at Toronto, August 17th, 1965, with the Beatles, Bobby Hebb was the opening act, singing "Sunny."
Great lesson on the greatest song ever written… You already know we appreciate the hell out of these lessons Mike
Happy Birthday Mike! Thanks for posting another Beatles lesson!🎸🎼💥

Your meticulous replication of the Beatle's catalog -- exactly as they played it -- will no doubt be useful for generations to come!
This is my favourite Paul McCartney song 🎵 of all time followed by Hey jude

Found out more than I ever knew about Yesterday. This song will stand as a classic for a long time. Thanx for sharing Mike, excellent job as always. 😃
If not forever.

Yea, pretty strange, eh?
I heard "Yesterday" for the first time in boot camp at Ft. Knox! Love at first 'hear'.

Mike, brother, what can one say? Truly appreciate all what you do and how you teach.
My deepest regards,
Ben.

Indeed! I particularly loved the staff(sheet music). I haven't seen that stuff 4 awhile. It helps to reinforce My timing errors.

Such an iconic song. Thank you Mike
Paul's genius and Mike's mastery for a great song in a great tutorial 👌 Thanks again, Maestro! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Mike...great explanation on such a standard. Thank you!

Nice job Mike. This was perfect. You always instruct us with great stories and a complete structure of the song. Just brilliant. Congratulations.👍👏
One of my favorite songs to play but now I will play it the correct way note for note. Thanks Mike for the up date I thought I never needed till now.
Mike you played it great,too.
Thanks.

Keep up the amazing work!
Another great lesson
Finally after all these years... Thanks Mike
Your work is just amazing, is like a love letter for Beatles fans, thank you
Thank you, Mike. You have the absolute best Beatles lessons!
'Opportunity Knocks' was a British tv talent show. The 1968 series winner was Mary Hopkin, who was consequently picked by the new Apple Records label.
It's unbelievable how brilliant a young composer like Paul McCartney wrote such a great😄 masterpiece.
Well done, Mike. Thanks.
You're my favourite UA-cam channel. Thank you for the Beatles history and beautiful attention to detail.

Brilliant!

Good work!
Great vocal performance Mike.
Great job, mike
Thank you Mike for this one! With every your video I am getting better and better :)
I myself prefer Scambled eggs.
Scrambbled eggs oh my baby how I love your legs. Far superior
"Scrambled eggs
Oh my baby how I love your legs
Reminds me of the way my beagle begs
Oh Scrambled eggs
I love your legs"
Perhaps that's the way Paul may have done it. 🤣
As he rewrote it though, Yesterday by Paul McCartney remains a timeless Beatles' masterpiece from 1965
Who actually wants what the song is about? Be good everyone
What's wrong with legs🤔
I do now but not Yesterday.
Another great lesson thanks Mike👍🏻 would love a lesson for Hey Bulldog or Strawberry Fields!!! Would you ever do lessons for Bob Dylan songs? We need someone like you showing us how it’s done
Great song lesson Mike, I have struggled with this one, will deff get Tabs and Charts from you.
😎👍 This makes me want to hear you take a crack at Keith Richards' very similar guitar part for "As Tears Go By," which came out a few months after "Yesterday."

As always thanks. BTW Happy birthday.
Paul is a genius
Μπράβο!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He did it!
You sound good Mike. And enjoy your videos. But Paul sang it just fine for me.
Rock on!
Paul did well playing that and singing at the same time. Tricky
Yeaaah, finally!👍
That string arrangement shows what a musical genius George Martin was!
great, i wish i had a pachelli for dylan 😊
Perfection as always Mike!
Do you have any thoughts on how different the future may have been for the boys individually, and music in general, had this song been released as a McCartney single rather than a Beatles Lennon-McCartney song?
I love the original version in F with the string quartet..a masterpiece but I liked the BAND version in G they were doing live in 1966 …Harrison was getting some of the the string lines on his Epiphone Casino.
The Beatles were genius' in music, how they appealed to all age groups cought everyone hook, line and sinker!
If Help! gets a remix set, it'd be interesting to hear the original version "Scrambled Eggs"
I'm first, love it as usual!
Nice Midi work mike, may I ask which strings you used? Meaning what is it spitfire or a waves program or IK multimedia because I to have access to some great string samples and I’m just wondering which ones you use in your studio
It was finally released in the UK in 1976
Love the midi pad/strings. Do you mind telling us what you used for that?
Thanks Wilson. I key the midi in ProTools with a midi controller. Violin 1 & 2 are with the Xpand2 software (Big Hard Strings) the Viola is from KONTAKT Session Strings (05 Legato) and the Cello is also from Session Strings (01 Sustain).
Mike that was excellent.
Paul actually plucks the bass notes in spots either accidentally or on purpose I don’t know.
He wouldn’t say ? 😅😂
Which I have always considered the first slap bass 😂
Cj - Guess one could see it that way - but they'd be "Looking Through You." 😂😂😂
@@MPfrance 😂 well I thought I knew it what do I know 😂🤣
I Love your work sir
