- Toto - Rosanna (From "Live In Amsterdam")
Available Now: mercury-studio...
Toto were formed in LA in the late 70's by a group of friends who were all much in demand session musicians. They went on to epitomise the classic American pop/rock sound of the 80's and 90's with hit albums and singles including Hold The Line, Africa, I Won't Hold You Back and the multi-Grammy winning Rosanna.
Live In Amsterdam was recorded in front of a fanatical crowd in 2003 during the world tour in support of their album "Through The Looking Glass". The set includes all their hits, tracks from that album together with live favourites.
This track is from the full concert DVD "Live in Amsterdam", available now from Eagle Vision.
All I wanna do when I wake up in the morning is see you eyes
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that a girl like you could ever care for me, Rosanna
All I wanna do in the middle of the evening is hold you tight
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know you were looking for more than I could ever be
Chorus:
Not quite a year since she went away, Rosanna yeah
Now she's gone and I have to say
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
Meet you all the way, meet you all the way, Rosanna yeah
I can see your face still shining through the window on the other side
Rosanna, Rosanna
I didn't know that a girl like you could make me feel so sad, Rosanna
All I wanna take is a night you'll never ever have to compromise
Rosanna, Rosanna
I never thought that losing you could ever hurt so bad

Bobby Kimbal's voice is sublime!
ua-cam.com/video/HSvWSYgSM-g/v-deo.html
scott bodager now that’s just mean...
Yeap! When he's not out of tune is GREAT 🤣
Bobby still has his voice at this concert. What year is this?
@@funtimes1427 even still his voice was soooo much better in the early 80's. He could still carry those high notes. Band members said they all did cocaine but it hurt Kimballs voice
these people are real musicians......no playback, no autotune, nothing...
just pure heart, passion and love for what they do...
Backing track you can catch it when steve is singing a part. The backing vocal is there.
@@MrRdh567 no there’s not
@@MrRdh567 that’s a synth hitting a bass note on the same chord
I Feel Lucky! I'll be a the Québec Intl drum fest and Simon Phillips is the one I'm Looking forward to see!!!
Bobby kimball is a legend 😎🎼🎵🎶
I've been obsessed with this song lately for some reason....maybe because it's awesome?
Dude me too!
I know exactly what you mean. It happens to me at least twice a year lol.
Me too , and it's just so good,, ,,,,,,, takes me back to my youth , long live the 1970s
I find Africa awesome because of Bobby Kimball’s fantastic vocals
Omg. Me toooo.
How the hell are these guys not in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame???
For real!!!!
Rock and Roll HOF is a sham
The "RRHOF" doesn't deserve Toto
Toto have only really had 3 hits!!!
@@PeterPete# of 'hits' is no qualification for that. Besides, the R&RHOF is a friggin' joke.
Simon Phillips is a boss drummer, and he will always have my total respect...but he can never replace Jeff Porcaro and his groove on Rosanna!!!
I truly love how Bobby is sooo into it and clearly puts his heart and soul (and his chops) into it. So sad to hear about his dementia. 😢😢😢
he's Simon Phillips, one of the best drummers still alive..
Dear God, these guys sound 100x better than anything I've heard them do before. Awesome to see them improve over the years. That drumset sounds so TASTY.
Absolutely.
It’s the snare that sounds amazing
Terrific live version of Toto's "Rosanna" taken from their 1982 Toto IV album. One of the best soft-rock bands of the 80's & early 90's. Never can get enough of Toto, have my iPod loaded with everything they ever recorded. Toto had one of the best session drummers in history in Jeff Parcoro,,,RIP Jeff!!
Both of their voices are epic
Mike Pocaro...The Groove Master...

Songs like this take me back.. Rarely is music this good anymore..

Jeff... 🤔?
One TOTO song a day. Makes you Stress Free Everyday!!
OMG that drummer is killer. The riffs and speed that guy is throwing in blows my friggin' mind. I am a drummer and realize not only the riffs, but the timing. INCREDIBLE.
I love this band, especially drums patterns, Mr. Porcaro (I know, drummer in video is Phillips, one of the best), is unbelievable what you did with this beautiful instrument. You opened new dimension of enjoying music, for me. It is a paradise for every drummer!
Mike Pocaro...The Groove Master...
ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING BANDS THAT EVER PLAYED THE AIRWAVES !!!
No u mean on earth.
R.I.P. Mike Porcaro :'(
:(
Good bye one more great bassist. Sad...
He's gone so young. Yes, RIP Mike!
I love everything about this band. the drummer is flawless, Bobby's still got his belting voice, David is ace on the keyboards, and damn that bassist really grooves it out. and don't even get me started about Lukather....he's just a genius.
Question: Why do you think Bobby Kimball's voice sounds as good as it ever has?
Answer: Because he is a professional singer, not a professional screamer.
The difference between the bilge water coming into the market today versus what came out of the market during Toto's hiatus . . . pure unadulterated talent! Nothing less.
One of the things I love about Simon Phillips is that he looks like a kid in this video. Looks so young and has a brilliant baby face in this video, even though he's not far off hitting 60. Similar kind of thing to Keith Carlock - they both look quite young, and look around the same age, even though Keith is more than ten years his junior. Something about drummers staying younger, perhaps?
i know si phi did look young here he was about 45,46 here. that drum kit was so huge it made him look very small. looking back at jeff p he aged well never looked his age.
Brings back some wonderful memories, growing old really sucks.
these guys are terrific, RIP jeff what a great percussionist he was
RIP to the greatest bass player on earth, Mike.
One of them John Entwistle is the best
***** no such thing as best
+Ian Steele (Musician) Obviously only musos seem to understand this
another fantastic track from toto Rosanna just sheer quality world-class do you agree
One of the best songs of the 80s hands down well in the pop-rock genre
ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING BANDS THAT EVER PLAYED THE AIRWAVES !!!
How the hell are these guys not in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame???
Rosanna and Hold the Line, when they slowly start the music, you anticipate what is coming. 80's were and still are the best
This groove is so great !!
Michał Completely right, Simon Philips does a good job
Legendary groove. Sounds easy to play, but...NOT. lol
The world needs more musical acts like this. Just pure talent.
That's always mark of a great band when they sound better live than on record. Well, after all they're all recording studio musicians for other artists to begin with and absolute masters of their own instruments.
Especially the drummer never misses a beat, not that anyone other does either but he sets and keeps the tempo like clockwork from start to finish.
Forget "hit the notes" whats more...he owns and therefore feels the song. This version is incredible!
una verdadera muestra de cómo se debe hacer una canción, tocar un instrumento y hacer una banda, emocionante!! volverán a haber grupos como éste algún día...?
This band is very good, the sound is sensational.
True, modern drummer magazine has rated the "rosanna shuffle" as one of the hardest grooves to play perfectly, and Ive been playing since high school and I still work on it. Jeff was truly the master of the groove.
Steve Lukather - what a guitarist! Mixes shredding and jazz so neatly.
Songs like this take me back.. Rarely is music this good anymore..
That was one of the best live performances ive ever heard.
The drummer is awesome, so young and already playing with some of the best musicians ever!
The drummer in this band is insane. All of the musicians in the band don't just play their instruments and sing......they play and sing to their high limits. i'm sold!
Bobby Kimball Definetly still got his amazing voice :)
Absolutely Incredible....
THIS is music!! True professional musicianship! A stage full of all stars STILL on top of their game! Damn!
Sad RIP Mike Porcaro :( at least he is with Jeff now. There rocking in heaven
*****
The greatest family-related rhythm section (bass and drums) ever ¡¡¡.
my favourite bass player right there... :)
fabulous jackets, fabulous moustaches, fabulous music.
Look at the bassist's face, there is passion in that. How i love to play with someone who shares the same passion for music.
Bobby actually sounds Amazing on this one. One of the very few.
This performance still gives me goosebumps.
Damn it... Bobby Kimball has awesome voice! The real gift from God.
Those pipes of Bobby…ma gawd…and Luke is a god in any case…
This drum 😍
It's easier to have a broken heart with songs like these :-))
DraganChe Gagi
I have a broken heart for the girl at 1:16 and at 1:21.
Sighs.
:)
Las canciones de esta agrupación siguen dando de que hablar, lo digo por aquellas personas que en su época fueron mis amigos, y los recuerdo a pesar del paso de los años. Que 70s tan extraordinarios.
Toto's band members are all good looking back in the days when they are still young, until now they still look good. and they are all skilled musicians, dude. for all those people saying they're not good looking, artists aren't there to compete using their looks. they are musicians expressing their love for music and they created fucking beautiful songs bitches!
TOTO, a melhor Banda do Mundo de todos os tempos!!
R.I.P. Dear Mike, with Your brother Jeff...well miss YOU
"...all the way!" Toto continues to r o c k! Thank you for your music.
Purdy shuffle... The drummer is very excellent!! RIP Jeff!! Great fucking song.
las musicas que ellos crearon son buenisimas todas son de buenisima calidad.. es increible que en esos tiempos pudieran hacer musicas tan buenas son geniales TOTO 4ever
THIS is what I call drumming. Open handed Rosanna shuffle, not some shitty doublebass speed record breaking.
The audience participation and clapping during the bridges is amazing. In time and stops at the chorus. Just puts this amazing song over the top.
For once, a live version that doesn't rush the tune. I like the laid-back groove, all the more impressive at its restraint. Miss Jeff, though. RIP.
Melhor formação da banda!! Let's Go 2021
Toto Rocks,
Love this song !!
that's Simon Phillips, He is a legend to any drummer, at least if you're interested in the big names. So he isn't only cooler and looking 12, but he's a big legend!
Ridiculous how tight these guys are, even now. Having Simon replace Jeff is outstanding.
Notice how they come at you without some glamorous stage show? All they need is their talent to blow you away. No smoke and mirros here.
top band always love toto
Such an amazing song
Wow, they still sound great all these years later!
Who says Booby can't sing live? Maybe not as good as before, but he sure as hell holds his own here! And yes, Simon is the MAN!
Holy 💩 it’s Bobby kimball ❤️
this vinyl sounds so freaking good on my 80's stereo....well it's 80's music, on 80's equipment....so it's all good
Mike Porcaro. His brothers Steve on keys, and the late great Jeff on drums were a part of the band as well. Although Mike didn't join until after this album was recorded.
I have to certainly agree with you BIBI, I am sometimes disappointed by concert appearances but I have to say that they were truly Awesome here. I've replayed this about 10 times thus far. Toto lives on still and are still Great. Thanks for posting.
No problem. There will be loads more videos going up over the next few months as well - keep watching!
Sem sombra de dúvidas fenomenal!
in the 60s 70s american blues, rock and r&b was on fire. so many great players. this was one band that showed so of how far ahead they were. paid for by the 50s and 60s jazz and blues rock guys
Man, I love this version!!! It's just got something, I don't know what it is...
What a song...
what a voice !!! rossanaaaaaaaaaaaaa
The_PeLL
this is awesome!!!
Gracias a Dios, disfruté esta música en su época, se quedó en mí para siempre. No habrá nada que la supere.
eyeAlone777: I totallly agree upon you dude: It feels so good to listen to real music from these talented musicians. I wish they could come to Mexico for a "revival" concert. Mexican audience would appreciate that and give them a warm welcome.
Hi
I blocked zecamel1 and deleted his comment. I hadn't read it all the way through - just saw the praise at the start.
I pretty much allow any comment on here, apart from racism or homophobia.
Cheers
James
The fuq he say?
RIP Mike Pocaro.
WoW. What a team These Guys are! They are rocking it al the way!
Imo Bobby was at his best here, I take me hat of For thuis performance.
Instant Classic After All This Years ♥️💯
Toto - Rosanna (From "Live In Amsterdam")
Can't believe people are actually picking out the fact Toto members aren't good looking. What? You have to be good looking to be successful in music? Bollocks. The reason every other fucking artists are ridiculously good looking & fake these days is because that's what sells their albums!
Toto.. Ugly, nothing fancy, top class ARTISTS!
Well Toto was already successful before MTV. That changed a lot of things in the music business. Not a hard-and-fast rule, but the advent of music videos made appearance a lot more important for newer acts.
Daniel Dougan Yeah, and that's what he's complaining about. It should be about music not their looks. Are we here to listen to music or masturbate ? I'm here for the music, for sure. And they aren't even ugly, they're just old, wich is normal.
Felipe Frota But they weren't old then!
Daniel Dougan They aren't as young as they were during the 80's and 90's. They must have their 40's or 50's here, maybe more even.
Felipe Frota Oh I forgot which video this was...yes, they are older here. I'm just saying that they weren't exactly handsome men even in their younger days. Go watch the original music video for this song, and you will see what I mean.
TOTO...This is best band of the world...!!!!!
The drummer is the infamous Simon Phillips, one of the best drummers in the world and has played with Jeff Beck, Jack Bruce, Peter Gabriel and Stanley Clark to name a few..
One thing I never understood about Steve Lukather: that Ace Ventura outfit. WTH? o.0
It's not as if they ever looked cool though, is it?
herbie747 You do have a point.
Their music is good - but they're the most uncool looking band ever! See Rosanna music video... lol
It's all about fucking music dumbass. Fuck that video-shit.You should know man...come on..
Its not about looks its about talent. Its really sad you see it that way.
Cuando buscas toto en UA-cam y te sale el baile ese erótico de menea el toto antes que esto....te das cuenta de que la humanidad no se salva por ningún lado XD.
Man, i'm only 21 years old and i am a TOTO huge fan! Hugs from Brazil.
I have to agree with my fellow toto fans the sound awesome live, one of best in live performances .I have ever heard!!
The Wikipedia-article "music" should be a link to this video...
@mddttgeo
Yeah, you can clearly see the fun they're having on stage.
And Steve is a genious, just as Bobby ;)
ottimo gruppo prepararatissimo con tanta voglia di dare ,il batterista mi fa impazzire
David's deep voice really works well in the background of this song.
He was influenced by Bernard Purdie for the shuffle beat itself, he just adapted it to be 10x harder haha
