This has to be on the top of the list of anyone wanting a sporty sedan. It's the best from any perspective by huge margins (engine, dynamics, emotional aspects). It's also a very practical car, with good interior space and boot. It's not too expensive either. Alfa will sell a lot of them.
Awesome and beautifully design car, uniquely elegant from any angles. Especially when reviewed none other then the best.....Thanks for another true to goodness review Thomas.
Always highlighting the important details for somebody in the market for the cars in your reviews. Unfortunately, unless my lotto numbers come up, I'm not one of them. Thanks for helping me dream though. Great review on an amazing car
Great review again Thomas. I think they've done a great job on this Alfa. Like the exaggerated exterior as some high performance cars have been too modest with minor differentiation from standard, e.g. current Audi RS3.
u really have started to make your videos even better. i liked your reviews before and more now. wish u ll do more distinctive precise reviews. love your channel than any other channel... :D
I love the 'practical' reasoning tp provide the wife for the QV version :), I am afraid MB got my money this year already (mainly due to poor Alfa dealer network in the UK) but if I had not just swapped I would have put this on my shortlist.
Take a look at "Alfa Romeo Giulia QV against everything" by Motor Trend and then we may talk about competition. BTW, depending on your age you may remember the DTM championship of the 90's: as long as Alfa took part with its 155s and 156s BMWs and Mercs had to bite the dust. Surely, after being purchased by Fiat in the mid 80s the brand lost its independence and struggled a lot, having no chance to get straight along with continuous development. And it won't never be the Alfa of the 50s and 60s again for sure. But talking about BMW's competition heritage is pointless. Compared to Alfa they had and still have simply minor race experience. So long.
You are right, but I did not speak negatively about the sporting characteristics of alfa romeo. I talked more about material quality, usability and technology. Alfa Romeo has a very successful history but fiat shadows this beautiful past.
Was für ein toller neuer Alfa. Was würde ich darum geben, so eine Giulia Quadrifoglio auch mal zu fahren oder gar vorstellen zu können.. Schönes Video.. :-)
Front spoiler : it moves down to create more downforce at speed, something like a turbo s. The combs at the front don't interfere with the safety at all, as the giulia has a 5 star rating in safety. Combs at the side, obviously are functional, but to be honest I don't know for sure what air pressure do they take, if the wheel compartment, if the quarter panel, or if they take heat from the top of the engine. That lower side spoiler are aero, I reckon some good +40kg at normal highway speeds, plus they actually look nice. Back, you nothing to point out. As for the bucket seats, you said it's faux carbon on the sides, but when you knock it, it didn't sound fake to me, that was the sound of knocking on carbon fiber. Where did you gather that it was fake? As for the similarities, the current Audi chief interior designer (the guy responsible for every model interior on sale today), was from Alfa Romeo, so the interior design team on Alfa, obviously still has the influence from him, as much as Audi has the interiors of Alfa. (this according to alfisti that mentioned the name of the designer and offered more info on this). As for the rest, very good, very in depth, would like you to mention if the lower interior panels are from plastic, what kind of plastic or if they are faux leather. This car, followed a very ugly trend from Audi, that is the interior plastic galore. Great review. Please continue to do this!

A Simply Beautiful Design, Alfa are back, and at Full Throttle. I simply love this cars appearance! Though build quality, which has often eluded Alfa, is yet to be determined, and only Time and some Miles will truly tell this story. It's crazy to think, that a 2.9 litre 6 cylinder Turbo motor, can get to 100 kph in under 4 seconds! Even 2 years ago, that was the exclusive arena of the Supercar. BMW's M, Audi RS and Mercedes's AMG divisions, had better take a serious look at what Alfa Romeo have been up to these last few years, as sleeping they have not been. Though I can no longer enjoy the ownership/driving of these beasts, I really love hearing all about them, as they are for me the epitome of the all encompassing driving experience, and why a sizeable number of people quiet simply love cars. There is nothing like the bark of a high performance 6, and the shriek it makes at high RPM's. Just listening to the music of a Porsche 911, or an (old) E46 BMW M3 make when been given a heavy foot on a responsive throttle.....Well it is enough to bring a wistful smile to the face of a old Petrol/Gear Head. Thankyou Thomas and the team at Autogefuehl for this brief preview. I always look forward to your next video, this is especially true when you take a close and in depth look at the worlds true Sports Cars. Sincerely, M.
Thomas, a great review as always, thank you. In Europe, how common are Alfa dealers? Here in the USA, not very common at all. It's one of the reasons why I chose Porsche Cayman GTS instead of Alfa 4C.
This is the car that meets all your needs. One car for all seasons, best of all. Now the question is, who in a right mind would swap this beauty for an soulless, sterilised, dull and colourless Audi, Mercedes or BMW??
Not sure on this. Hints of 3 series BMW look. Particularly its size. However, it might be a bit of a grower. Sounds good and I like the back diffuser/exhaust layout which reminds me of a 155 touring car. Front is pretty too.

The newer alfas are very reliable. Just ask owners of 159's, Breras, Giulettas.. I know the 4C has had some issues with the manual transmission, but if you choose the Giulia with the ZF auto transmission you are set (not sure if the manual in the Giulia is of the same make as the 4C).
I'm glad that you're not only very good car journalist (morover, you've got your own style which is not so common in your business) but a good person as well :) Respect, Thomas! Keep it that way :)
Hi :) Chris Harris described it in his TopGear video as more comfortable and relaxing on the road than an M3, so it is perhaps a better daily. On track he said that the German cars are a bit more engaging, he felt more connected in an M3, as the Giulia felt a little bit more inert, but only by a little bit. The positives of the Giulia as stated by Harris is a more diverse chassis, comfortable on the road and capable of a good thrashing on the track, an engine that loves to revv, which made it feel more exciting than the competition, and it being by far the fastest car in its class, as quoted "at least 10% faster that an M3". The negatives was that the Giulia was not quite as sharp as the competition in terms of feeling and connectivity. So objectively he said that it was not better than an M3. But subjectively, its looks are fantastic, and the fact that it is a RWD Alfa Romeo with 500 bhp just made a brilliant combination, or as he ended his article in the TopGear magazine "Look at that stance, look at that badge. Think I want one." As always, the brain goes for the M3, but the heart longs for an Alfa Hope I could help give you a good image, the Alfa community needs some fresh blood :)
+Don Pedro did you know Harris drives and loves huis BMW M5!! Harris loves huis Beamers. Objectivity in car journalism is something very subjective. I think BMW and alfa are both great cars with a different look and feel. Both are very fast on the nurnburgring. So I think they are both very Sharp.

Super car - Italian on the outside, German on the inside. Agree absolutely about the use of leather in cars. I don't like it -- let the animal keep its own skin. The only animal content of my crummy little car is in its name (Panda). Great review - closest I'm likely to get to a car like that!
Saludos.
Even though I don't speak Spanish & I used Google translate, I really want to thank you for your comment. It's very valuable. I'll be honest manual Alfa Romeo Giulia QV is my dream car as it is the essence of what an Alfa supposed to be. After reading your comment my head says the ZF automatic but my heart still says the manual. I think I'll go for the manual & try that first since they're more rare & special
Does anyone know by chance if it possible to fit the Quadrifoglio Version with roofbars? My information so far is a definitve yes but can anyone confirm this? I am a mountainbiker and skier, I am highly dependent on a way of transporting my equipment so thx in advance for any help.
ua-cam.com/video/fDcRdu3kHG0/v-deo.html our review to the Giulia in general. You can also always look for "Autogefuehl" and brand + model name - that's the easiest way to find the review you are looking for
Autogefühl Thomas it's not what I meant by full reviwe. You mention in the video there would be a full review of Giulia Q. Btw. I drove both Q and 180bph diesel today. Great car!!! Absolutely amzing to drive and also very happy with the ergonomic interior. Don't like the options list tho. Alfas used to be well equipped as standard. Now 10-20 KEUR is needed to make the car great
I get the appeal of the Giulia. What's not to like about a sexy Italian sedan that's affordable (relatively speaking), has great performance, and offers a Ferrari-developed engine. However, having seen this car up close and in-person recently, I must say that the 'wow' factor dissipates very quickly. The build quality, inside and out, left a lot to be desired with poorly aligned body panels and an overall cheapness of the interior materials. The interior felt quite dated when compared to something like the new C63 AMG. Thomas, how would you compare the build of the Quadrifoglio vs the C63 AMG or the M3?
+autogefühl do you know what price this will be? I am unsure if this car will be worth a premium price due to Alfa's reputation of poor build and unreliable cars, is this the same in Europe? If it costs the same as a m3 or s4 I would definitely go for those even if this car has a better looking exterior. I guess it would be silly to ask for this car car in a wagon/estate :-)
It would help if we start it out with the correct HP being shown at 505HP, not 510HP. Per the window sticker of a certain car ........ALFA GIULIA QUADRIFOGLIO RWD....Exterior Color: Alfa Rosso (Red) Exterior Paint Interior Color: Black Accent Stitching Interior Colors Interior: Leather and Alcantara® Seats Engine: 2.9L 505HP V6 Twin-Turbo Engine Transmission: 8-Speed Automatic Transmission. Not sure why people cannot get this right in various reviews but it is 505HP not 510HP or 515HP.
+Vincent Vanetti did you know that every single vehicle can vary in horse power at about 10 to 20 HP? The customer just wouldn't know. Also, the very exact hp figures are different from market to market according to the specific Homologation
Well, they do not vary on ANY Quadrifoglio made for the US market, it states 505 on every single one. Sure, there can be variations of horsepower here and there among cars made on the same assembly line, but it is not a 510HP engine, it states 505HP on the window and the vin designation, sorry. This is like arguing if the sky is blue or bluer than blue, but I get your point, just making mine. You are not the only reviewer to state this, but it is factory incorrect. When you own one, rather than review one, you might be more wary.
With italian cars, people ALWAYS have to pick on something. Lol. People ALWAYS have to find a defect. Well, italian car lovers are used to that and all the time we see a review done to an italian car, we think :"Let me see what he's going to pick about". Lol. That knob in other makers does not wobble much cuz it only moves clock wise and anti clock wise. In the Alfa its like a joy stick and it is supposed to move like that. I also do like when people talk about the built quality of italian cars... For sure they never seen the quality of german cars then. Lol. My ex boss has a porsche cayenne and it has some very shitty plastics. Glued together like a 5 year old glues 2 pieces of paper together in kinder garden. Loads of problems with that car but "it is german". VW amarok...I have never seen a car that is all plastic inside. I think people should look at other cars before talking about the italians. It a german car is built in the exact same way and with the exact same plastics as an italian, wow...its perfection but in the italian its lack of quality. And the best thing of the Quadrifoglio is being manual!!! Wow. But apart from that, I, do like your reviews in general.
This new Giulia is one of the most beautiful sport sedans I have ever seen. She is like a sculpture with perfect proportions. If I had some 85k lying around for the one I'd choose, she'd be mine in a heartbeat.

Think I want one."
As always, the brain goes for the M3, but the heart longs for an Alfa
Hope I could help give you a good image, the Alfa community needs some fresh blood :)
+Don Pedro can you post a link from the video of Harris!? Thanks
+aam voor i can't right now, but it's on top gear. just search "alfa giulia chris harris top gear" and you'll probably find it :)

6:00 Thomas rockstar version (side mirror)
i would sell my body for this car.😂😂😂
Opel Diplomat in the background !
Ahahhahahahahahah
Super car - Italian on the outside, German on the inside. Agree absolutely about the use of leather in cars. I don't like it -- let the animal keep its own skin. The only animal content of my crummy little car is in its name (Panda). Great review - closest I'm likely to get to a car like that!
thanks and great to hear you think so too !
The gauge cluster kinda sucks. Urgh why couldn't we get the manual in the US?!
I think I missed it but what is the name of the color of this car?
nice care i like it, i need to know the colour code of this car please.
I am a mountainbiker and skier, I am highly dependent on a way of transporting my equipment so thx in advance for any help.
the monster alfa 512 bhp !!!!!
Where's the full review, Tomas?
ua-cam.com/video/fDcRdu3kHG0/v-deo.html our review to the Giulia in general.
+Ankit Maloney the german cars have better build quality, but alfa has improved a lot. Bmw interior is quite boring tbh
Great looking car and sounds fantastic. However, will the Fiat build quality stand up to its rivals? I think you like this car Thomas!
+Rob Trust thats exactly the question. We will
Know in 3 years :)
Alfa Romeo back in DTM Please!!
I love so much that pure German accent 👍😁👉🇩🇪
=)
...bei mir merkt Mann auch, das ich ein akzent hab' (Ungarisch) ..Am sonst, alle deine Reviews sind einfach TOP 👍😉
goodbye M3 lol
Alfa Romeo old school for many italian's factory s as the Ferrari and Lamborghini.
I love this car so much
It's really cool
Beautiful color
+autogefühl do you know what price this will be? I am unsure if this car will be worth a premium price due to Alfa's reputation of poor build and unreliable cars, is this the same in Europe? If it costs the same as a m3 or s4 I would definitely go for those even if this car has a better looking exterior. I guess it would be silly to ask for this car car in a wagon/estate :-)
depends on the market
What a beauty
bye bye M3 , Sorry but that rocks my soul !!!
Beautiful all over.
Are your reviews becoming shorter Thomas?
Check the video description!
what color is it?
I think rosso Alfa
They are hypocrites just parroting what they were brainwashed to believe with the billions that the Germans spend on advertising and buying reviews.

Best car in the market is Alfa Romeo Giulia
L'Alfa Romeo wear out those who don't.
