when i try to create a dummy for politics (I have 1=Rep, 2=Dem, 3=Ind) i get the error---- returned a result with an exception set. I am running version 30 grad pack. help
Hello, thanks for a nice video! I just have one question for you. Isn't it a matter that if my categorical variable is nominal or scale when I wanna change it into a dummy variable? For example, I can see your polid is a scale variable not nominal. If it is nominal then you need to select "do not create dummies for scale variable values?" rather choosing "create dummies for all variables"? Look forward to your answer :)
Hello again, Thanks so much for this video. But I have a question. I've seen videos where it was suggested that when you create dummy variables from an original variable, you make one of the dummies a baseline or reference. For instance, the PolId in your video has 5 different categories. My understanding is that when you add them to a multiple regression model, you should only include 4 categories. Please can you help clarify this assumption? Thanks so much!
Thank you so much!!!
Glad you found this useful!

I created a dummy variavles as explained and the Spss created five gruops while I was coding only four groups. Why is that? or in other words, why?
