I'm on it! Just discovered golden palominos via my favorite band Drivin and Cryin. Been purchasing vinyl and CD. I will be looking for Syd straw War and Peace, thanks for posting.
Frog turned me on to Syd years ago. One of my favorite songs n from one of my favorite people on the planet. Im pretty sure he had cancer by the time he burned this cd for me. I only found out he'd passed when I called both of his phones and 2 people said "Wrong number." He shared his feelings through music he'd share with me. This one resounds with "Do you remember me? Hey! Remember me!" Yes, Frog, I will remember you always. Been missing you. And yes, just as you whispered to me, "Eventually, September. Frog" Then on equinox, I will make my own carrot cake with c ream cheese frosting, and toast to you on your birthday, cuz I will always love you... and carrot cake. ❤ xo xo
I used to watch her perform at CBGB's in the early 80's with a band called Schmoozebusters. She is an incredible talent and a sensitive, genuine caring person. I recall hanging out at her apt. on McDougal St. Salt of the earth!
I've always found this song so cathartic. I get the feeling that the specific details mentioned in the song have got to be personal, but the message is universal. It's about the disconnect between the person that you once hoped you'd be and the person you are, about the passage of time, about the way time and circumstances change you, and how even yet, it's still not too late for you. And those chiming guitars bring it all home. Just brilliant. This song is one of my personal desert island discs.
I heard this song playing for the first time in 1996 on WAVF 96 WAVE, at the time one of the greatest independent FM stations in the country. To this day, I absolutely revel in the image of hitting that guitar solo at 2:22 on stage at Wavefest, overlooking the banks of the Cooper River. Good times were had back then!!
@@gregfender2699 I thought so!! It's really weird that one of the things that helped make them so popular, Wavefest, is what ultimately killed them. They had to pay through the nose to settle lawsuits from incidents that occurred when they held the show at Brittlebank Park in 1994 and 1995. So, they moved to Wave Land, the former landfill on Romney Street (much, much more wide open than the park). Well, having to hire an engineering firm to construct access roads to the site, erect fencing around the vent pipes, test to see if the clay cap could support the weight of the stage, speakers, crowd, etc., cost the station over $100,000.00 which they could not recoup since the show was free. They held the show at the same site in 1997 and finally had to start charging admission, which did not prevent them from taking yet another bath on the show. So, the next year, they were sold to APEX, and it was a long, slow decline from there. Great things like Locals Only disappeared, independent acts like The The and The Cruel Sea were replaced by...a more generic sound. Yeah, I miss the glory days of 96 WAVE, before Apex screwed it up and before they eventually tried desperately to sound exactly like 98X.
I worked for Henry J Lee. The beer distributor that sponsored Wavefest. Great bands! 96 Wave Precursor to Alt. rock. I'm old now but still recall GREAT music from those days including The Music Farm and King St. Palace. Thanks to all who remember! Go Uncle Miles!!! lol
"I was married for a while. It ended in tragedy. Oh well, enough about me." '96. Sobered up, got divorced (#2) 3 years ago. Two year relationship on the skids. Man, I listened to this record a lot. Still one of my faves.
Thank you for this upload. The other one had all that stupidly predictable video stuff goin' ahn. This is nice. Straight up is the way to go. Syd's THE NAZZ. Thanks..
Thank You 💕 Jesus Christ My Lord And Saviour & Truman Capote ❤#❤
One of the best albums you've never heard. Go find it. Life Is Short.

I instantly loved this song since the first moment I heard it... and that was like 5 seconds ago.
Never heard this before. Immediate like.

WAVF was probably THE best radio station of the 90s. I miss their perfect programming.

Man, what a set of pipes. She hollers really loud, but it's beautiful

My sister has this album and I taped some of the songs onto a tape in my early twenties. Mid twenties?
