    You guys should do a video on how to get a job afterwards, it's easy to pass your test, getting the WORK is where the hard work begins especially for new drivers!

      Your comment mace me feel blessed. I stay driving monday, starter off as a cashier, then supervisor now I'm a driver. I just worked hard and when the position opened up asked my boss if I can apply.

      I know this comment is 2 years ol but things have really changed. I passed a few weeks ago and had multiple offers at £30,000 per year working 37 hours a week, not including over time. I was able to find this job due to the company I did my training with. There is a growing demand for Hgv drivers and the pay is only going to get better so of you're thinking about getting into it, I would seriously suggest it!

    Hmmm! It’s always better to pass Class C in a Manual truck over automatic. There is still plenty Class 2 manual vehicles out there and no use if you don’t know how to use your gears.

  • @mbk3game
    @mbk3game 7 років тому +3

    For me which I have done both, they are completely different jobs. One
    is haulage and the other is more or less distribution. Both are not the
    best jobs one can hold. Class 1 requires experience because it is more
    difficult to reverse, drive but mostly it is unforgiving. So, go to
    Class 2 first and then Class 1. But again, every job is different...
    Class 2 doesn't help in driving Class 1 later...

      I did my training last year with Scania Newbridge Edinburgh and I pay 1700£ for class2 +CPC than few months later class1 for about 1300£ but I failed first time this time as reversing artic can be a bit tricky in not stress free environment :-) and I extra pay 600£ for ree test.. Which also include 8h truck time plus 150£ test fee. Hope that helps. Now I am class1 driver on Ltd working between 8-12h a day earning about 650£/week.

    • @notoco1199
      @notoco1199 5 років тому +2

      Aaa wee update.... Now I am on about 750-900£/week on Ltd - every day at home. Don't work guys for less than 12£/h on class1 respect your time effort and hard work.

      @@theghost1920 if you newly pass. You just need to build an experience so driving and getting in to it is most important. My first job was for 10£/h on payee container work class1 7-4 mon-friday. Now I drive delivering groceries to shops 12£ weekdays 13.5£/h nights till 6am 14.50£/h Saturday's 15£/h Sundays in 6days work that's around 800-900£ Ltd per week for 5days if I make 700£ I am OK but its still not the money they should pay for your skills dealing with breakdowns, police, Vosa etc job can be quite stressful specially if you new. Plus many agencies are rubbish. My friend is a tramper 5days/nights in a truck his rates are 12£/h weekdays, 14£/h weekends 25£ night out allowance on Ltd as well he make so many hours to build around 900-1000£/per week by you can calculate how hard he work to make that money. Good luck!!!!!

    Hey is there any reason to why you chose auto over manual as you were going in there expecting to do manual??? Reason why im asking is im doing the same as you so id like your opinion on it please. Thanks

    • @commercialmotor
      @commercialmotor  7 років тому +1

      I wasn't actually given the option. Scania's training centre only has autos, as most modern trucks come with an auto 'box. The most important part is really getting the driving sorted and your spacial awareness, so to concentrate on doing gears is just an added confusion. I've since driven a manual truck and although it is harder, having already found the confidence to be able to drive (thanks to the auto) doing the manual gears became easier. I would plump for an auto if possible,but then try to gain some experience after you pass in a manual. Hope that helps.

      Did you find it easy finding work once you had passed your test? What sort of money can you expect to earn?

    • @johnnycage5565
      @johnnycage5565 7 років тому

      kingtyson999 best tip I can give you is, when picking a training centre make sure you ask them does the truck run a 4 over 4 gear box with switch, if it doesn't have one of those gear boxes init DONT go with them. You will not be able to drive most class 2 trucks because your head will be fucked if you get a job at a company that runs them style gear boxes witch MOST company's run. If you learn in a 4 over 4 box with switch then you will be able to drive any style truck thrown at you because it's the hardest one to learn. This guy here is going to be a very low level hgv driver because he learnt in an automatic. You wouldn't take your car driving lessons and test in a automatic would you.

    • @johnnycage5565

      Privileged White Rabbit finding work is very hard and chances of you walking into a £500 a week job is very very slim unless you know the boss or something.

    • @stuartcraigon2003
      @stuartcraigon2003 7 років тому +1

      That's simply not true. Trucks come as standard with auto gear boxes so a manual is rare!
