    The oil in that vehicle should br checked when the engines is warm as the dipstick handle is red.

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  3 роки тому +2

      Great point. The dip stick is red so it stands out to the operator who may not be mechanically minded. The only reason they say warm oil is when the viscosity of the oil is higher it will flow more easily thus it will flow into the sump pan more quickly we say cold because if the engine is cold there is less chance of burns and the oil will be drained into the sump pan.

    Isn't the hazard lights and indicators different fuses? Hazards might be working, but the fuse for the indicators might be gone and you suddenly find yourself with working hazards, but no Indicators.

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  3 роки тому

      A very good point🧐🧐. Very unusual to have a fuse for the hazard light circuit this is normally a relay or surge protection circuit. This is why you can have your hazards on with no ignition key, or a primary circuit failure. You would not pick up faults for doing it both ways.

    What does Keith mean "springs are smiling not frowning"?

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  2 роки тому +1

      When the vehicle has no load in it the leaf spring that supports the vehicle bends in a way that it looks like it is smiling. When the vehicle has a substantial load in it the leaf spring will then bend the other way and look like it is frowning.👍

    Running your bare hand along things to check for sharpe edges??? Running your bare hand around tyres??? Constantly putting your hand under wheel arches, what would happen if the vehicle suspension failed....trapping your hand?
    Good idea of video, however blaintant disregard for health and safety. Use the required PPE, its there for YOUR safety.

    Can I fail my c1 road test if I get all the questions wrong or do they just go down as minors if I get them wrong like on a normal driving test?

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  8 місяців тому

      If you get all the Show me tell questions wrong this will result in a fail (from the start). I have know for this to happen with a student that did not want to take the test but there company was making them.
      Very unusual. Go through the questions with your instructor before hand and you will be fine. best of luck 🤞🤞👍👍👍👍

    I would apply for a c1 license but I’m very short sighted ( like -12 and -9 prescription). Is there any way around this, could I still apply for a C1 license? I have no other medical conditions or anything.

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  Рік тому +1

      The best thing to do is go for an eye test with your medical professional or optician and then contact the DVLA with your results. They will then inform you of any restrictions that may need to be applied to your license. 👍👍

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  2 роки тому +1

      Once you get to a certain age you will then need to carry out a medical D4 assessment this will be on the back of your driving license and will tell you the date this will need to be carried out. DVLA will normally send you a reminder when this is due.👍

    Isn’t that a Luton van as 7.5 ton is a bit bigger ?

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  3 роки тому

      It’s a Iveco Daily. To qualify to be a C1 for a DVSA driving test it needs to be over 3.5 MAM and not exceeding 7.5 MAM. So this vehicle works perfectly.

    • @NationalDrivingCentre
      @NationalDrivingCentre  3 роки тому

      Very true, it's not the law to wear steel toe cap boots. It comes down to the risk assessment and safe systems of work for the company, because these instructors are not carrying on manoeuvring any boxes or anything that could damage their feet the risk assessment is not requiring them to wear steel toe cap boots.

      Unfortunately not this vehicle is plated at 5.5MAM and there for over 3.5MAM, this makes it a C1. It's got nothing to do with "what the vehicle looks like" it's the plated weight. 👍
