I can relate to how that makes you feel. I played this song while I’m sitting in a lawn chair at the Cemetery my Uncle Joe is at. He’s a Korean War Vet, never married (Cut the Cake) or had kids. Passed away at 60 years old, then only after that I come to find out his time over there probably influenced his lifestyle & reasons why he never ended up with a family. When this song first came out it was like instantaneously I thought of Uncle Joe.

I used to, but now he's allowed them to be so commercial they are watered down and mostly ruined for me. Not the "sell out" factor, but it just makes me cringe when I hear some of his best works used like that when clearly he never needed it. There are better ways to use songs than the way he ended up using them. This would be an exception, as is Hollywood nights, main street, but it's disappointing at minimum.

"I DO!!" My father & mother split just before my 4th bday. My father was a Union man/ biker & loved to travel. We lived in Phoenix AZ, where I was born & my when our folks split, my older brothers told me NOT to go with pop, cause " DAD'S going to the Mountains where THE DEVIL LIVES"( He was headed for Colorado...the Rockies🤔😒😆, & we were ALREADY surrounded by mountains. Kids...lol). Any what's...their ploy to avert my leaving with my father FAILED, & we traveled ALL OVER the country before we got to ' The Devil's Rockies'. Point of the story( sorry)..We took our 1978 Lincoln Continental the whole trip, usually blasting his 8 tracks, & THIS PARTICULAR song freaked me out at first....until He & I began chanting " I DO" ..meaning WE wanted to go to ' Fire Lake' or WHEREVER we were told NOT to go cause dammit...this was OUR ADVENTURE & DEVIL BE DAMMED, BUT WE WEREN'T GOIN BACK!!!😆😂😁🤣 My father was a Mountain man & a MAN AMONG MEN, & I actually feel his loss in my SOUL if that makes any sense. While riding north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, I met a fellow biker when we came within inches of colliding with a black bear. We stopped, chatted and he invited me to his home for the night (I spent three) and we have been friends ever since. I was born in '72, so Bob Seger was the soundtrack of my life. However, I was too young to fully appreciate his music. I liked some of his songs because they were catchy. As I get older, I can fully understand what he was saying, and have come to appreciate them so much more. Their meaning, and the nostalgia for my youth when I hear them, is painful sometimes. Yet, the music is too beautiful to not listen to it, so I am drawn back to his songs. As he so eloquently put it, I wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then. Time marches on, but we still have the memories.

Actually, It took just a quick call to get Don And Timothy to our tiny airport. Glenn was already down here producing Lou Ann Barton and beginning work on his debut album at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios. Glenn provided the guitar solo on, Till It Shines. Then Glenn and the other Eagles put out their patented cowboy harmonies for Fire Lake as the ever-adapting Swampers became an old west band!. I never heard if they traveled down to Montgomery to see the REAL 7 bridges Road they made so famous with the moss in the trees.

Great Bob song, with back up vocals and accompanying chords from the harmonist in the Eagles, Henley, Schmidt, and Frey.
