What I admire about Bob Seger, he did the hard work on his own, no instant fame, hard work made Bob Seger. None of the kids of today, will ever be able to live up to Bob Seger. The kids of today are Instant's.

I can relate to how that makes you feel. I played this song while I’m sitting in a lawn chair at the Cemetery my Uncle Joe is at. He’s a Korean War Vet, never married (Cut the Cake) or had kids. Passed away at 60 years old, then only after that I come to find out his time over there probably influenced his lifestyle & reasons why he never ended up with a family. When this song first came out it was like instantaneously I thought of Uncle Joe.

I used to, but now he's allowed them to be so commercial they are watered down and mostly ruined for me. Not the "sell out" factor, but it just makes me cringe when I hear some of his best works used like that when clearly he never needed it. There are better ways to use songs than the way he ended up using them. This would be an exception, as is Hollywood nights, main street, but it's disappointing at minimum.

Six years ago, at the age of 74, I took off on my bike on a mission to 'bag' the 16 states I hadn't yet been in....all of them east of the Mississippi. First stop...Key West, FL. While riding north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, I met a fellow biker when we came within inches of colliding with a black bear. We stopped, chatted and he invited me to his home for the night (I spent three) and we have been friends ever since. We have gotten together a couple of times since for rides and lunch in Seattle's Space Needle, but it's really tough when we live 3500 miles apart.

We passed Fire Lake on a canoe trip in Minnesota this year. We watched the first day the Greenwood fire started and smelled that smoke as we passed Fire Lake again on our way out. This song was stuck in my head .

I was in high school, I had an old cassette player in my hot rod SS camero ( truth be known it was a rolling breakdown once out of school it got to be a true hot rod) I had an extensive collection of music. During my senior year I put Bob Segar's double live in the player and the tape finally broke just before graduation. I never changed it all year long. I love his music.

I was born in '72, so Bob Seger was the soundtrack of my life. However, I was too young to fully appreciate his music. I liked some of his songs because they were catchy. As I get older, I can fully understand what he was saying, and have come to appreciate them so much more. Their meaning, and the nostalgia for my youth when I hear them, is painful sometimes. Yet, the music is too beautiful to not listen to it, so I am drawn back to his songs. As he so eloquently put it, I wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then. Time marches on, but we still have the memories.
