I agree. I bought an ex Boyfriend the Nine Tonight Album in 84. I listened to it for the first time during lockdown and was blown away by how talented Bob Segar is.
I was born in '72, so Bob Seger was the soundtrack of my life. However, I was too young to fully appreciate his music. I liked some of his songs because they were catchy. As I get older, I can fully understand what he was saying, and have come to appreciate them so much more. Their meaning, and the nostalgia for my youth when I hear them, is painful sometimes. Yet, the music is too beautiful to not listen to it, so I am drawn back to his songs. As he so eloquently put it, I wish I didn't know now, what I didn't know then. Time marches on, but we still have the memories.
Good music, beer and time. Man the 70s was the best time. I always say, wish I could go back for a day. One day would never be enough for me. Shout Out to: Chuck "The Painter" I Miss You Brother... All the Runs we made to Pymatuning Lake Ohio/Pennsylvania... Brother Uncle Jimbo
Imagine riding your Harley high up in the BlueRidge mountains. It's a crisp fall evening and the sun is starting to set and the sky is a golden orange. As you look out over the horizon this song is playing. Absolutely priceless.
I play this song just about every time I take off and go for a ride on my FXD 👍
roberta miranda…..Been there and done that about five years ago....and came within inches of plowing into a black bear who chose an inopportune time to cross the Blue Ridge Parkway! With binders on both wheels making the tires scream and closing fast, that bear looked a lot bigger than it probably was, but six years later, that vision is still burned into my brain.
roberta miranda i did that! This year: The whole Skyline Drive 👍🏻
I've run that on a 74 Glide...nothing better.
@@Leeson54 I live on the coast in central CA. Six years ago, at the age of 74, I took off on my bike on a mission to 'bag' the 16 states I hadn't yet been in....all of them east of the Mississippi. First stop...Key West, FL. While riding north on the Blue Ridge Parkway, I met a fellow biker when we came within inches of colliding with a black bear. We stopped, chatted and he invited me to his home for the night (I spent three) and we have been friends ever since. We have gotten together a couple of times since for rides and lunch in Seattle's Space Needle, but it's really tough when we live 3500 miles apart.
My wife has never seen Niagara Falls, which I think is awesome and want to take her there, so we will probably get together with our friends, who live about 300 miles from the falls.
But first, my Australian wife has a brother who has a birthday five days before mine, so we plan to fly there so he and I can celebrate our 80th together. BHE
Magnificent !!!!!! .. and those backing vocals by some of "The Eagles" themselves !!!!!!!!!!!
I just found out that Don Henley came down to Sheffield, Alabama with Glenn in 1971 as well. That's when they started the concept of the Eagles began.
Bob Seger was the man! The Eagles were the Band! Seger made history in the hearts of all of us who grew up with his music! And thank god he and Glenn Frey headed west to make some of the best Music ever made in my time.....I love Bob Seger!
did you know Bob Seger did the sound track for Holiwood nights and Glenn Fry stuck the cassette in in car and listened to it a he headed up the California coast and was driving faster and faster with the rythm of the music till he realized he was doing about a 100 mph.that night he wrote the Lyrics
cg505able
ozzy black rain
cg505able you got that right!!!!
Seger and Frey are two of the best musical legends in my lifetime (62). My other legends are Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Jeff Lynne, Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Fogerty.
Bob's a Michigan boy...the great lake state.
One of my favorite Bob Seger songs.
Marilyn Snider me too. Little underrated. The underlying vocals and the women's vocals in the chorus are amazing.
That's The Eagles singing the chorus--very recognizable especially at the end.
That's The Eagles all right!!!
Marilyn Snider this is my second favourite by Seger. Only topped by Night Moves
Me
I love all of Bob Seger, but this is my all time favorite!
A gentleman below said this : Boy this brings back the free days when we still had freedom. And youth.
Days of pure air and water, the good days !......The man was right ! 60's 70's and 80's were great days and i'm BLESSED to have lived them.
Far away in a small village in the Peloponnese (Greece) a 75 year old ex hippie is listening with a heart full of Love.
BOB SEGER awesome voice. Takes me back to visiting with friends around bonfire ,having fun.
actually…. i skipped over this song as a teen, and only played his laundry list of top hits….but…years ago when i actually went back and listened to this song….. i said to myself…. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ??? but it quickly became apparent, that i was too young back then to appreciate it. this is a Man’s song … i love it now. a simple masterpiece.
I m so glad I wad a teenager , of the 70s. The greatest music ever made...
Debbie Patrie second that👍🏾
Right there with you,Deb..............
So am I! Greatest music EVER!!!
Late 60's early 70's was the best.
absolute truth !!!
Love Don, Glenn, and Timothy's voices. It makes me appreciate the song even more.
Wish we still had Glenn!
@@darylrudick Wish we still have Randy in the Eagles
Hello Laura, I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it?
Glenn also helped with his version of shame on the moon
Each time I hear this song I feel like driving all night across the rockies to wake up at dawn somewhere in north Arizona
John Well
Couldn't have said it better
Benn there done that It was a sweet ride
Let's go
Same. Except on a chromed-out Harley knucklehead or panhead trike with an early 70s custom esthetic, while wearing vintage fringed leathers...
You know you're a bad ass when the Eagles sing back up for you
Facts!💯
TRUE THAT
As a matter of fact, they wanted him to replace glen frey. he very appreciatedly declined. he had escaped the entanglements of fame and fortune and did not want to get caught up again.
Glenn and henley also sang backnups in " Against the Wind" sonf.
They believe in bob seger
The lyrics of this song are haunting. I loved this song since the first time I heard it.
Kim
IM 56 AND HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO BOB SINCE I WAS LITTLE!
1968
I played this song at my dad's funeral because Bob Seger was my dad's favorite musician
nice touch,Jason..................
@@dwightdodd3734 Hopefully your uncle didn't go to fire lake, although he might of rode the chrome 3 wheeler
It was once said that Bob Seger could open a phone book page and turn it into a song. Brilliant talent.
Great Bob song, with back up vocals and accompanying chords from the harmonist in the Eagles, Henley, Schmidt, and Frey.
Thanks...never knew that. Wasn't Frey from Michigan as well ?
chad7206 Yes, Glen Frey and Bob are from Detroit. Oh, (where are my manners?) you are very welcome. Now that you know, you can obviously tell it's them can't you?
Rusty Martell glen hung out with seger before the eagles were even a band. he learned a lot from bob. who wouldn't? thanks for reading.
onemorebrando I think I read somewhere like 398 years ago (lol) that Jackson Browne ran with those two for a while as well? Would you know anything about that?
yes
76 Still riding my Harley wearing my Black leathers Flying low‼️
Seger has a knack for writing upbeat and energized songs that really put you in a better place.
i remember he ended a show saying cat man do goodnight everybody
Ramblin gambling!
I grow up with this awesome music. We had the best life growing up ,now it's just ridiculous . What the heck happened.
Been binging on the band Journey recently.......DAMN they were phenomenal!!!!
Computers, that's what happened.
I Love this song. Never get tired of hearing it.
Hello Elaine, I see happiness all around you, can I please share from it?
Thank you UA-cam for the upload of this great song😊
Still riding my rigid Panhead bobber at 71. Never age that way. In the wind.
Growing up in Michigan, this man was as much a part of my summers, and falls, and winters as my own family. Makin' Thunderbirds, Horzontial Bop, Katmandoo, need I say more? A driv'in beat like the assembly line, and good honest Rock n' Roll! Detroit Rock city.............
When I hear about the Detroit sound, I think of Bob Seger. I know there are many others up there who are top notch, but Seger is it for me.
He is most definitely PURE MICHIGAN
Who wants to take that long-shot gamble, and head out to Fire Lake? Love this tune!
I love this song 🎵 ❤️ and this video. This song takes me back to my teenage years when I was young and free and just having fun.
Me too...😊
65 years old and still I love listening to this all the time. one of the best
One of my absolute favorite songs of his … the harmony with the Eagles is the best. Goosies every single time.
Every time Bob Sager sang his songs they turned platinum. Incredible singer and author to his music. Who wants to go to FIRE 🔥 LAKE . Thank you ♥️♥️🎼🎼
The 70's,80's,90's were the best ❤
The beginning of this video is just amazing to me because this is the way me and my husband first started off on our very first Chopper before we bought several Harleys he didn't have back foot pegs so I had to wrap my legs around him what an awesome video Bob Rocks!! rest in peace to my husband cancer bites
Cancer does suck. Took my wife away from me so I don't have anyone to wrap their legs around me on my bike anymore!!
@@stevewelsh3186 / Sorry for your loss butt she certainly lived my brother!
Hugs love!!! Hugs and more...you had a good one..bless him and you!!
Very true
Lost my love of 16 years to cancer
The best cruising the road song ever. I love everything he does. Keep on trucking, Bob!!
*¡still enjoying the songs by Bob Seger at 1:46 pm Pacific Standard Time on Thursday, 9 March 2023!*
Love the harmony of the Eagles on back up.
GREATEST SINGER OF ALL TIME!!! GOD BLESS BOB SEGER!!!! THANK YOU.
We passed Fire Lake on a canoe trip in Minnesota this year. We watched the first day the Greenwood fire started and smelled that smoke as we passed Fire Lake again on our way out. This song was stuck in my head .
I was in high school, I had an old cassette player in my hot rod SS camero ( truth be known it was a rolling breakdown once out of school it got to be a true hot rod) I had an extensive collection of music. During my senior year I put Bob Segar's double live in the player and the tape finally broke just before graduation. I never changed it all year long. I love his music.
Maybe one of Seger's best CLASSICs and to me personally YES one of the best
Boy this brings back the free days when we still had freedom. And youth.
Days of pure air and water. The good days.

My sister turned me on to Bob Seger 40 years ago. And Jim Beam. Thanks Jennifer
Fire Lake, Located in Upper Michigan, Iron County, Not far from Crystal Falls. (If you ever wanna go)
That's the Lake he's singing about.
Water and Michigan don't have the best stories together.
I'm there!
topfuel29 what’s there?
I was thinking of a different "Fire Lake", if you know what I mean.
Thanks i had no idea
This is my favorite song of his as I can play it for hours!
Anyone else remember when in Easy Rider Jack Nicholson rode on the back with football helmet on. You know Bob Seger has been putting out some of the greatest hits for over 5 decades. A true legend.
I so recall that movie when it was first released. Today, I still ride and am planning a major ride in about a month.
Yes..I remember
I remember. I remember crying my eyes out at the movie's end..much to my husband's disgust LOL
GREAT SONG, GREAT MEMORIES. I'M A FUCKING SURVIVOR. I' GRATEFUL EVERYDAY.
How could one forget
saw him in concert 3 times back in the day at the Hollywood Sportatorium in good ole South Florida with the love of my life Robyn... not a day passes by that I regret letting you go baby....
Underrated faded out song, like most Bob Seger's songs, like Rock & Roll Never Forget, Hollywood Nights, Still The Same, and You Accompanied Me.

I agree. I bought an ex Boyfriend the Nine Tonight Album in 84. I listened to it for the first time during lockdown and was blown away by how talented Bob Segar is.
One of the greatest artist of all time great music 😊
Very close friend of mine just passed away yesterday from a motorcycle accident. R.I.P Paul. Love you man. This one's for you

63 and i remember when this came out.. good music good beer good weed great women. Simple pleasures for simple times
I was stationed in Hawaii at the time. Great pakalolo.
Good music, beer and time. Man the 70s was the best time. I always say, wish I could go back for a day. One day would never be enough for me. Bob is the greatest, great concerts, awesome time with friends. That's something kids this day and time has no clue about living. The mist of them had it handed to them.
