If they launch the campaign a day early that would be a good compromise. But still, I'll play the campaign first cuz it sets the tone for me on how much enthusiasm I'll put in the game.
I always gotta play campaign so in multiplayer I can be like "oh, that's why we're here, that's why they're shooting at us, this is when blah-blah-blah in that one mission" and it's cool to connect it in your mind. The only times I haven't done that was BO4 (obvious reasons), Vanguard (didn't like the med kit thing they tried to do), and MW3 (open world mission was kinda cool the first time, then the second one right after, i just dropped it). really unfortunate that there's no early access, I've played almost every year since the original black ops and these early access campaigns are the only ones I've ever played lol
Totally agree. If you don’t start immediately in multiplayer, you fall behind quick and will be using default guns with no attachments against super soldiers. The early access gave regular players a chance to actually play campaign
I like the old school feeling of campaign, multiplayer, and zombies all launching day 1 with no early access but I also agree with you and never really played campaigns before until recently because I feel like I could use that time grinding MP.
>Remove EXP tokens to gimp MP progression on launch. >Remove campaign early access to force you into MP so you arent playing with default guns against level 60's on the 5th day of launch. Yar.. Gudj
I usually start every call of duty by playing the campaign mode first seeing as it helps me get a feel for how the rest of the game modes will be I play 1-4 missions then hop into multiplayer and go ham
I think that there could be multiple reasons for no campaign early access aside from the MWIII's receptions, like having the always-on texture streaming and not allowing early servers access, or having the XGP day one access and they want to boost the day one player counts as they're losing some sales on the typical sale chart and they want to include those who would only play the campaign.
This game in particular would be nice to have early access because of how much variety there will be in the campaign. I might want to play it more than once and I doubt I'll do that when I have the option of MP or zombies
I always play the COD campaign before multiplayer. I just feel like I get to get a feel of the weapons mechanics before hopping into multiplayer. Staggering single player/multiplayer is the best thing to do. Also it would get more people that otherwise would ignore the single player campaign to play it. I hope they bring it back next year.
Every single Cod since Black Ops 1, I have always played the campaign first. This early access idea was just great all around. So not having it now is really lame honestly.
Not having campaign early access is a huge L and will massively lower the number of people who actually play it. I agree last year is probably the reason because two years ago the reviews were mostly positive but it's classic Activision. Rather than holding their hands up and admitting they made a poor and short campaign, they bury their heads in the sand and just take away the early access.
No early access campaign doesn’t matter too much for me, it’s the 1st thing I’ll play anyway. But it’s weird, seeing how hyped this campaign is, and it could’ve had even more with it
It’s great there’s multiple blueprint rewards for completing the campaign but it’s so annoying they’re the exact same guns as the vault edition, want to see some for guns we haven’t seen yet
I only really played the AW campaign before the last 2 years. The last 2 years I played the campaign since it launched early. I mean, I’m not super invested in the story or anything but it was nice to be able to play early and get settings nailed down and things like that. I won’t be playing the campaign this year since I’d rather grind multiplayer camos first. It’s a shame because this years campaign looks much better than last years. Ah well.
I was admittedly hoping bit more variety of weapons rather than one to one with the vault edition mastercrafts. I don't mind, there was lots of weapons where I may use one blueprint one day, a different the next. But I do understand in consideration of how blueprints are with the prestige system. Could have been nice for not so much overlap right off the bat, but no big deal, still like them. Overall, looking forward to the campaign and rewards from it. Not sure I'll finish it right away, but think I intend to start there personally.
Totally agree. I rarely played the campaign mode even when I heard that some of them were one of the best. I’ll probably skip this year’s as well because I already got the vault edition. 😂 Thanks for the confirmation.
You forgot to mention that with MWII and MWIII there have been bugs that allowed players into the firing range and multiplayer private matches which could be a reason why
Whenever there’s a new COD coming out year after year, my priority is to always play through the campaign before going into zombies and then multiplayer after grinding my favorite mastery camo in zombies. But as for the campaign rewards other than weapon blueprints along with the Marshall skin, loading screen, etc., Treyarch would’ve took a step further and added double xp and double weapon xp tokens as additional rewards like we had in the previous two Modern Warfares. In my opinion with the OG prestige system returning with the new game in two weeks from Friday, I’ll be using permanent unlock tokens on other guns alongside equipment, perks, scorestreaks, etc. since the weapon blueprints that are earned through campaign missions will permanently be available for me to use in zombies that I could fully level up and do camos on.
I actively try to play the campaign when I do buy COD. I don’t buy every year, but I do enjoy having the campaign mode, and makes me feel like I get more moneys worth
I'm a campaign first player, then multiplayer. It helps set the mood. Plus i really love the story in Black Ops series, way more than even Modern Warfare.
I wish they would let me buy only the story mode and nothing else, I enjoy the story but I won't be playing another CoD again unless they give me an option to turn off the skins and outrageous cosmetics. I don't want to pay full price to have ads in my game (every other event and bundle has to do with advertisement for another product).
Also, I agree with Ace on the point of MO vs campaign. I don’t want to miss out on MP so will hold off playing the campaign and may not play it until next October. Shame there’s no early access this year 😔
Haven't played a CoD campaign since MW 2019. Barely finished that one. CoD just does not have room for good story telling. Everybody is either a "good guy" or a "bad guy", the villains are too flat and obvious, the ends are largely predictable. "Bad thing happens, the boys(and girls now) get together through circumstances, we figure out who the bad guy is, we turn the tables and go after the bad guy. The last confrontation has a 'surprise' twist of fate, to be continued". I think Blops4's complete lack of campaign was a blessing. The 'story telling' they used instead was honestly far more enjoyable.
As a consumer, i generally try to play Zombies first while the easter egg hunt is happening, and then i play campaign. I guess it doesn't bother me either way if early access is there.
Like you, I'm a multiplayer guy. No way would I take time away from that in the first weeks after launch. I've missed many campaigns and haven't actually played one since MW2019.
I am actually really excited for every mode this year, but I'll probably play zombies first bc the friends that will be on early on launch day want to play zombies, and then I'll play with my MP friends later that night or maybe the next day. I'll play campaign eventually when no one is on
It's crazy to me people will spend 70$+ for a game and make the conscious decision to ignore 1/3 of its content because they feel the need to grind to max level before everyone else. Like i get it, MP is where most time is spent in COD but the same people that grind the game and ignore Campaign are the first to complain "there's nothing to do in the game" when they literally ignored 1/3 of its content available to them.
I have been playing COD since 2007 but this will be the first game that I'll be playing on day one so I don't care if I won't play the multiplayer immediately. I loved the CW story and I can't wait to continue it in BO6. After that I'll have plenty of time to do the guns and camos
Treyarch usually has good campaigns (When they decide to have one, looking at you Black Ops 4) aside from Black ops 3 which was a massive gamble which they lost. (The camo unlocks for weapons and the calling cards and emblems were a very nice touch they kept tho). Cold war in 2020 was a massive upgrade at is a top 5 campaign for me. Looking forward to this one.
Lately, Preseason has been the period of time where I play CoD like I used to before seasonal updates was a thing (Campaign first, zombies second, multiplayer when I felt like it). So campaign early access not coming back isn’t a huge deal for me, personally.
It would be nice to have the early access. I can’t remember if it was the 2nd or 3rd MW but I did all the achievements for the campaign before the multiplayer came out and it was really satisfying. I’ll probably still play the campaign first, just a habit I’ve always had.
8:20 I do understand the logic, but I also feel like that's exactly why it's important to design the game with care. It wasn't long after MWIII's release that articles came out alleging the campaign was a 16-month rush job. I was kinda hoping early access would be a thing this year since B06 has had way more time in the oven. Either way, I'm still going to play the campaign. I'm thankfully in a position where I can afford to not play MP right away.
I usually play Zombies first, then Multiplayer and save Campaign for after a few hours when I want a break since it's been many many years since I've had enough fun to play one mode all day Also with the exception of BO3, Treyarch Campaigns are always amazing so I look forward to it The rewards for playing don't seem crazy like I have to have them but I do love the look of the Camos on the blueprints, especially Sniper blueprint
I will be playing the campaign first. CoD Campaigns have never missed. Well. Except Black Ops 4 and MWIII not having a campaign. But when CoD has a campaign, it's good.
All the blue print unlocks and bundles that are inevitably coming to the shop make the prestige useless, I can see paying for something then having it permanently unlocked but the rewards should be locked until you unlock that weapon
I'm fine without having the early access campaign. Either way, I level up faster than most people so I never feel like I'm "falling behind" when switching between campaign and multiplayer. I might even play zombies this year 🤷
same as you. I'd love to play the campaign. If it were in early access. After mp drops, I'm way too hyped to play something else instead of it. And after I've had my share of the mp, I no longer feel like I wanna spend time playing the part of the game I was less excited to play to begin with, so.. even though I'd love to, I might never actually end up playing it this way.
SBMM will be crazy in the beginning of the cycle. It's better to play campaign and zombies first and when the dust settles, move to MP. The sweats are burned out at that point :)
No, it's because it's a bad business practice. It takes advantage of FOMO and other companies have already been facing massive backlash for the same practice
@@TFAmbience Activision doesn't shy away from FOMO in the slightest. Their entire live service model is built on it and it's really scummy. There has to be other reasons.
@@peepsbates they're getting rid of it in favour of other, shadier tactics while doing this to seem like the good guy. One of the main reasons Ubisoft is crumbling right now is their handling of AC Shadows, a big part of that is gatekeeping Early Access behind an Ultimate Edition. I'm not defending them in the slightest, their tactics for nickel and dime-ing the playerbase are disgusting. But from a business standpoint, why wouldn't they cut early access to look like the good guys? The stats have probably proven to them it's more of a risk and liability to their profits than the potential gains
I believe Call of Duty should offer secret unlocks for completing the campaign on higher difficulty levels, similar to what Halo 3 did in the past. For instance, players could unlock the flaming helmet. This would provide better incentives, making me consider playing the story mode first.
I go after the campaigns, first all the time, to get a feel of weapons and an idea of map layouts. The pay to play part I do not like. Many of these packs are cartoonish to that of Fortnite. It gives an advantage to those who may have the luxury of buying these packs. I liked the early release. For the same reasons you stated.
I think they ditched early access campaign so gamepass users are getting the same day 1 experience as those who’s pre ordered. If that’s the case I think it’s a win for gamers.
I wish more people played campaign cause the people who dont are why bo4 had no campaign. When cods are under pressure by higher ups and/or dev time, they first thing they sacrifice is single player cause who plays campaign right? Its not like some of the most iconic fps characters come from cod campaigns
I played the campaign maybe once in my first 10 or 11 years of playing cod. Im just here for the multiplayer. But the years there waw early campaign access i actually played. Disappointed we wont have that this year
I don’t see why people are mad about no campaign early access? The people who usually play every cod campaign could care less playing the story on launch was normal for over a decade until the last 2 years, and the people complaining are the ones saying they won’t play it now because they’ll be too focused on multiple player so most of the people that are mad are simply mad that they can’t play the game early in some form if you don’t care much about the story to begin with you shouldn’t care if the campaign releases a week early or not
The last CoD campaign I played was Black Ops 1 and it's only because a friend wanted to watch me play it. I'm not buying this new one because I love MWIII so much and didn't love the beta for blops 6.
We have a Call of Duty game 365 days, and the campaign is 8 hours ? I mean come on, what can you miss in 8 hours ? 😉 I always loved the campaigns in Call of Duty, except 1 or two, so I will be playing the campaign first, and when I feel like after one or two missions I have enough, I simply switch to MP 😏
The last campaign I played was Ghosts lol. Although I do think this games campaign looks cool and having played BO1 & 2 which are relevant to this game, I’ve reinstalled Cold War to catch up at some point. Especially since I hear that game had a great campaign as well
I think they should have locked 2 operators to the campaign and a universal camo (thats actually good) as a unlock for completing it. Also some weapon/double xp even if its like 15 min tokens. This would give people an incentive to play complete the campaign during the time period where warzone isnt active as well as while Ranked isnt live. Rn the blueprints are fine but other than that - no real reason to not out off the campaign until later atleast. The goal should be to get people into the campaign asap not eventually.

Each year the multiplayer is more and more disconnected from the campaign so it doesn't feel much like it matters now
Hopefully you can customize woods wheelchair racing strips would be cool
really unfortunate that there's no early access, I've played almost every year since the original black ops and these early access campaigns are the only ones I've ever played lol
I like finishing campaign first, so I get the context of the multiplayer maps and stuff. Its the reason I liked the early access to campaign. Damn.
I used to jump into campaign first.
But since the game has gotten so competitive, I always jump right into multiplayer zombies to level up weapons.
Activision blaming early release campaign for negative reviews, is like blaming your hand for getting burned when you stick it into the fire.
I always play the campaign first. I love the action moments and it’s gets me used to how the guns work before jumping into a multiplayer game.
Every single Cod since Black Ops 1, I have always played the campaign first. This early access idea was just great all around. So not having it now is really lame honestly.
I like it, it’s like back in the day where everyone gets everything at the same time.
But it’s weird, seeing how hyped this campaign is, and it could’ve had even more with it
Going to get through the campaign, then hit up MP. Black Ops campaigns hit different
MWIII was also an extreme case because of the whole "$70 DLC" controversy
I play like I played in the first COD. No campaign, no zombies, no warzone. I’m here for multiplayer Call of Duty only.
Shame there’s no early access this year 😔
I blame IW for no campaign early access. MWIII was IW story board and they ruined everything.
Cold War's campaign is awesome. Highly recommend it before going into BO6's
As a consumer, i generally try to play Zombies first while the easter egg hunt is happening, and then i play campaign. I guess it doesn't bother me either way if early access is there.
Campaign is a must. Esp in BO. Last Bo campaign was very fun, especially the ending where you…
Spoiler?
Kill all your team)
Like i get it, MP is where most time is spent in COD but the same people that grind the game and ignore Campaign are the first to complain "there's nothing to do in the game" when they literally ignored 1/3 of its content available to them.
when is the new warzone map/resurgence map starting, is that day-one when BO6 comes out ??
The MW3 campaign being trash definitely killed the early access. The game was getting terrible reviews before it even dropped.
You could try to beat the campaign live if there would be a lackluster season. I mean, you have enough subs that would tune in.
Ayo it's so dumb we're not getting the campaign early. I will literally never touch it otherwise.
Dude, you really should play the Black Ops 6 campaign. It's going to be amazing, just like Cold War. You'll really be missing out.
I usually play Zombies first, then Multiplayer and save Campaign for after a few hours when I want a break since it's been many many years since I've had enough fun to play one mode all day
Also with the exception of BO3, Treyarch Campaigns are always amazing so I look forward to it
The rewards for playing don't seem crazy like I have to have them but I do love the look of the Camos on the blueprints, especially Sniper blueprint
If I travel to New Zealand again… I’ll be playing the campaign first.
I will be playing the campaign first. CoD Campaigns have never missed. Well. Except Black Ops 4 and MWIII not having a campaign. But when CoD has a campaign, it's good.
MP camo grind, Zombie camo grind, then campaign.
I might even play zombies this year 🤷
Multiplayer on PC setup, campaign on XBox in the living room.
Definitely MP, will play campaign when the gaming cycle gets boring
same as you.
Removing preorder early access across all consoles was not an amazing move but removing earlier access for only PlayStation was a good move
You Xbox users are trash 😂
Personally Im happy with this change as I didnt spring for vault edition and would be playing campaign first anyways
SBMM will be crazy in the beginning of the cycle. It's better to play campaign and zombies first and when the dust settles, move to MP. The sweats are burned out at that point :)
I’ll play MP first just to grind Dark Matter camos then Zombies also grinding Nebula camo and then Campaign if I have spare time!
Even tho this time campagne and MP will be out at the same time , games review channel should still do a separate review about both of them
Pretty funny we’re losing campaign early access because IW made a trash campaign and got flamed for it with bad reviews.
yeah lol, they are afraid of this campaign failing as well or something? almost like they don't have confidence in their campaign that they made
No, it's because it's a bad business practice.
I loved the campaign ngl
I think BO6 looks great, campaign , zombies and MP .
Campaign first normally, but definitely multiplayer for recent call of duty games
3:26 the safe house isnt a new concept, it was in cold war and a different version existed in the bo3 campaign
I think they ditched early access campaign so gamepass users are getting the same day 1 experience as those who’s pre ordered. If that’s the case I think it’s a win for gamers.
Thank god there's no early access on the campaign. That was such a terrible way to take advanrage of FOMO
Disappointed we wont have that this year
Literally just make the blueprint unlock only that EXACT blueprint. No changing it until you unlock the base via level or token. Its common sense.
The percentage of people that buy COD just for the campaign these days can't be high at all.
I don’t see why people are mad about no campaign early access? The people who usually play every cod campaign could care less playing the story on launch was normal for over a decade until the last 2 years, and the people complaining are the ones saying they won’t play it now because they’ll be too focused on multiple player so most of the people that are mad are simply mad that they can’t play the game early in some form if you don’t care much about the story to begin with you shouldn’t care if the campaign releases a week early or not
Do you get all the attachments unlocked for a particular weapon if you have bought a blueprint of that weapon? Love the channel, Ace!
The pre order blueprints are better in every way the ones from campaign have camoes.
Lets face it, now this drops simultaneously the amount of people playing the campaign will be next to zero. Stupid.
Especially since I hear that game had a great campaign as well
It's funny I only play the campaign when I have no Internet but I won't even be able to do that now RIP.
Not a big campaign player. Usually have a go on Early Access to try out weapons etc., but if not available I'll stick to MP when it drops.
