    European basketball = team tactics > individual talent
    NBA = individual talent > team tactics.
    Both are at their peak of their respective approaches, and I think that’s beautiful.

    • @remulsive9558

      While in general your statement is true, the actions you see in this clip are used by many NBA teams. i think the difference between Euroleague offense and NBA offense is not as big as people believe it is. The Utah Jazz for example use all the actions mentioned in this clip most of the time.

    • @georgetsapekis
      @georgetsapekis 7 місяців тому +6

      @@liekegerritsen1620 True, however the approach is totally different. Also, the main difference is, NBA players (most of the time) have a creative liberty to play as they see fit, especially in transition, fast paced games and/or blow out games. In Europe more players get involved in the action, in general, and 80% of the plays are directed by the coach. In the NBA, traditionally, teams that showcase the most ball movement and switches, tend to win championships. You can look at the Spurs and the dominant Warriors as an example, they had some of the highest per possession passes in NBA history. Especially 2014 Spurs, are arguably the best basketball team ever, statistically. Another differentiating factor are the rules, making it very difficult to play a more American style under FIBA rules. It could be possible, if the court was larger and the 3pt line further back, that europeans would try to iso a bit more often. Lastly, I'd just want to point out, that in Europe, when two teams clash it's not Super Star player agains Super Star, it's more like one coach's tactic against the other's, and their presence is very much highlighted. Which still happens in the NBA, but it's not the standard case.

    • @spicykaraage641

    What a great breakdown! I love how they play, everything is lined up: their aggressive team defense, relentless transition game, advantage creation, off ball movement, play against the closeout, the tagging on the offensive glass leading to aggressive full court pressure, and then we start over again. Just a never ending 40 minute circle of aggressiveness and pressure! And subbing players after 3 minutes to keep everyone fresh.

    Hey Augis, make an analysis of Paris' defense too. Iisalo has said multpile times that while their offense gets the most attention, he himself considers defense to be the cornerstone of their success.

    • @AugustasSuliauskas
      @AugustasSuliauskas 7 місяців тому

      That's true. They have some great defensive concepts that are quite new in Europe and have been working efficiently. Those transition opportunities don't come alone

  • @michaelvanallen6400
    @michaelvanallen6400 3 місяці тому +2

    Coach Iisalo also worked with 6 main players in Paris, with whom he worked closely together 2-4 years before in Bonn&Crailsheim.
    That's why these players worked extremely well together offensively AND defensively. Individually, no one is a superstar. But as a team they are outstanding.
    *For fans, the style of play is extremely attractive: extremely fast offense, fast finishes - and very good defense.*
    With Paris and previously Bonn, he won two international club titles and two vice-championships in two years - despite a comparatively small budget!
    Iisalo accepted a job offer with the Grizzlies as an assistant coach. I suspect this was primarily because of his family - he has three children. As a Euroleague coach, the likelihood of being fired after 1-2 years would be extremely high. As an NBA asst-coach, the likelihood of staying there for 3-4 years is much higher

    When they catch the ball each players push the ball as quickly as possible toward the other basket.
    All players are always in movement and they respect the space.
    Players respect the direct play line in face the basket and at 45° in each side.
    The problem of the others team is they do not organize their defense enough quickly. They do not press the guy who is in control of the ball.
    So Paris impose their rhythm.
    On the other way the opponents team incur instead of impose their defense style to paris.
    I would be curious to see one training of Paris.

      Don’t hate the player hate the game. If rules allow watching opponent timeouts then why not watch them? Also it’s been a year get over it..

    much weaker competition?? well i remember Lakers with Koby NBA champions traveled to europe to play against Euroleague champions and they lost twice. Last time i checked Jokic and Luka dominating the NBA and they was Euroleague players, so not so sure if it is much weaker competition anymore

    They played in Eurocup that is this year somehow weaker than FIBA Champions League. Not saying hes not great coach or they not good team, but u have to take everything into consideration.

    I don’t think so - Pini Garson winning in 2001-2004-and 2005 was 20-30 years a head in his mind that now every team adapted is ideology♟️🧠🎤

    Bro, comparing the team that isn't even the best in their country and isn't playing Euroleague is funny...
    That's like everyone followed Wemby's team last year but they weren't even a champion in France. Saša Obradović I the best coach in French league.
    Offensive rating is BS because what's 126ppg if you can't win it all
