OMG!! I literally called every doc that came by my ICU station one day looking for my damn pen!! No on fessed up (but every time they came by my desk and got the squirrel eye, docs threw their hand up saying "I still didn't take it!!")
This is GOLD. Previous nurse here, and current medical resident. All through med school I watched my pen like a hawk, because I knew how pen thievery in the hospital worked from my nursing days. My classmates would just let preceptors walk off with their pen, too scared to say anything, but my one area of undefeatable confidence was to never hesitate in saying "I'll need that pen back though" when a preceptor inevitably walked off with mine.

I wiped it clean and put it on top of the paper towel dispenser. About an hour later I overheard a nurse lamenting the loss of his favorite pen and when I told him where it was he was soooo grateful.
Love this!!! Im a retired RN, and one surgeon in particular was always stealing...(borrowing)....my FlexGrip ink pens!!! He claimed they were the best pens he ever used....thief!!!!!
Should have finished it with the nurse cleaning the pen with a Saniwipe! Otherwise, very accurately portrayed... I have had to snatch my pens from doctors several times!
Sad but true...'I work on a psych unit and was thinking of stealing my coworker's pen the other day because it was so awesome. Then a patient with a religious fixation randomly blurted out, "Have a good day and don't covet thy neighbor's goods!" LOL

And THEN I saw this video on FB and shared it to her!! What are the odds!? Best part was at the end of the day she found the pen! It had been in her pocket the whole time!!! Such a good laugh about it, timing was crazy perfect!
That’s hysterical and so true about healthcare people. I’ve been a pen thief my whole career. I end up with so many pens at the end of the day. Eventually I distribute them back but again I steal them back. It’s the circle of life 🤣🤣

As a doctor, I finish the shift and find a pen in my pocket for everytime I wrote that day, unless they came to me and said" hey, did you take my pen?". Its not intentional, must be my magnetic personality
That was hilarious! When I worked in the lab as a tech and in I.T as an analyst., I was also the office supply ordering person. Ha, ha, people were always asking for expensive pens, and I had to tell them no!
this reminds me of one of my favorite mentors that would only want to use my pen for some reason...he knew that i would watch him use it, and make him hand it right back to me. he made like 10 times what i did at the hospital, and could have any damn pen he wanted, but for some reason, i had the only pen he liked!?! keep innovating! i'm grateful!

I think there is a class in medical school that teaches doctors to steal we nurse's pens and stethoscopes! It is right after the class on how to write completely illegibly!
ROFLMAO! Pen theft is a reality in hospitals. And as a lab tech, I had more wards, more opportunity. I could leave the lab pen-less and return with several. :-) TIP: use cheap stick pens and REMOVE THE CAP. No one wants to put it into their pocket. Using clicky ballpoint pens is asking for theft.
I too use this solution. One of the managers wanted a nice black inky pen for some certificates and I had to teach her how to write with one of my fountain pens

This is so true, across many types of work everywhere. Our company has 3500 employees and bought over 30,000 pens last year.
